Superb work, and also really uncanny. I started the exact same kit about 3 weeks ago, with the exact same upgrade parts, eduard PE set, wooden deck and literally all of the AA guns replaced from Black Cat (which are superb, used them before on a tirpitz). Brilliant to see this come together and will be using this as a datum point whilst I am doing mine. Thank you!

Dave, many thanks for the kind comments on the KGV build. Fantastic that you’re starting the same kit with the same upgrade parts. If I wasn’t working on other things I would very much like to build ’Duke of York’ based on this kit as it would allow me to change things I got wrong on KGV. In case you’re interested, these would include:
      1. Stick with (pun intended) the wood veneer deck and maybe sink the supplied deck panels into the hull slightly so the wood deck would be flush with the gunwales
      2. Find a more convincing shade of grey for the vertical surfaces
      3. Create a more complete set of rigging
      4. For the Admiral’s bridge windows, use a lighter shade of translucent green (or maybe blue) acrylic
      5. Do a better job on applying decals and weathering
I would also tackle some work in a different order based on what I learned on KGV. This would include things like when to apply/paint railings etc. A bit vague I know but I can be more specific if you’re interested. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy building your model of this fantastic ship as much as I did, best regards, Bill.

You did an incredible job on this realistic model. Thank you for share it with us. You must have an incredible amount of patience to all that detailed work.

Rick, many thanks for the kind comments, they are really appreciated. I don't consider myself a skilled modeller and I think patience (which you mentioned) can maybe make up for that to a large extent. Best regards, Bill.
