I took a painting class from him at the University of Minnesota, many years ago now. He was an excellent professor, and very encouraging and attentive to his students, including myself. He would go out of his way to help guide students. I've taken many art classes, and I would say that he would be in the top five best art professors I have studied with. He made a positive impact on me as an artist.
If you are in a situation to learn from this man- prepare to be transformed as an artist- He was Teacher/Dean when I was in art school, I imagine he has become an even better educator since then.
