After being out for 33 years I'm still broken and my greatest regret was letting mum my rock see me broken when I didn't even know I was broken. Sorry mum for putting u thru this, love u and still miss u. Wish I could change this. Your the best mum ever xoxo
I am the proud son of a WWII and grandson of a WWI veterans. Both broken men in different ways. Their sacrifice allowed me to grow into the man I now am. Thank you. And thank you Beccy for the beautiful songs.
Beccy, you really have got this correct. As a Vietnam Veteran I found I could relate so easily. My wife just said "oh your home are you, well I'm going to a party, you can please yourself. We divorced soon after. My sister told me I left part of me over there and my mother told me she prayed for me every night. I later found out I was so dead inside and couldn't even cry. I know this is a late comment, but I had to add it
I hope you are doing well. I had to find a therapist who was willing to look past all my tattoos and scars now this took time lam a better man now good luck
Aloha Miss Beccy!!! We met in Iraq when you entertained us in Basrah (and got stuck overnight) with "Angry" :D. I've always remembered your wonderful self and how much I enjoyed meeting you, dancing to your singing, and watching you slay all the instruments at our impromptu concert. Hope to see you again in person! All my blessings, a US female soldier! ;)
As an old vet from an older war First heard Beccy Cole about 3 years ago.She is amazing and this wonderful song pays tribute to the mothers of all generations who saw their sons leave and return changed .A timeless song as the mothers of broken soldiers from todays conflicts carry on caring and fighting for their sons. Bravo Beccy Cole and thank you for the recognition shown to these wonderful women.
All I can say is simply amazing. Thank you so much for writing this beautiful song and remembering our dear son, CAPT Paul McKay. He was a very private person but I think he would have been completely amazed, slightly embarrassed but immensely proud of this song. He always believed that the Australian Diggers were the best soldiers in the world - bar none! Again, thank you, Beccy.
Do you know a person with so much pain inside, Or the feeling of loneliness when no one hears their cries. Maybe when the tears are gone and I can clearly see, The only question left will be....."DO YOU KNOW ME ANYMORE". "LEST WE FORGET" 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Just like Poster Girl, Broken Soldiers is destined to be played the world over in honour of Australian Soldiers and their families. This is a poignant and beautiful tribute to those who can no longer fight. Love your work Beccy.
Awesome U nailed this song thanks Beccy U are best thanks for your wonderful music awesome Aussie talent proud to be a Aussie listening to wonderful music 😁😁👍👍💖💖
Wow! Beautiful song and what a surprise to find a photo of my son and I on the video. I remember the day this was taken, he was leaving on his first deployment
Beccy why do you bring tears to my eyes.. because you sing it as it was. Poster Girl was brilliant and this song is a follow on from that. I may shed a tear in private as I watch you video and I am not ashamed and do it for all the Mothers and families they have left behind. We must remember them. Lest we forget. Thankyou A Vietnam vet
Keep on Hanging in There John I like You Served in Vietnam am simply Trying Day by Day To Survive but sometimes it Just gets Harder to Pretend but That is Really what The World Expects if Us Veterans From The Vietnamese Jungle. Paul
To me I am the son of a broken soldier who sadly lost his battle with the black dog last new years day and I could tell how hard it was for him when I saw him last but he would try and stay strong for my sake
Matthew I am sorry Your Dad could not Hang on any Longer for His and your Sake but do Try and Understand He Never wanted tomHurtmYou or Himself Really He Just wanted to stop The Pain and The Demons of War Try and Remember The Good Times with Your Dad Paul a Vietnam Medic and a Broken Soldier who has been quite all to long
A wonderful song, and being Anzac Day an incredible tribute to our service men and women and their families and a reminder that it doesn't end when they come home for many of our heroes. Your can be very proud of this song and your Sweet Rebecca album. What a year! Your book Poster Girl is an incredible read as you said in your ABC radio interviews - you did lay it all out and it makes those who have followed your career from the beginning, even more proud of you and your achievements. Your are an incredible entertainer but more than that, an incredible person. Looking forward so much to the Hallam Hotel gig.
cant believe I've never heard this song till today,.. i always knew you were a great writer Beccy, but this has to be my favourite! (lots of tears!!) karen lynne
That would have to be the most beautiful song I have ever heard about people who served our country and the challenges of trying to fit back in. Definitely broken with little support.
I Like You Mate am a Broken Soldier Battling Daily The Horrors of War and it Just goes on Doesn't It Never ever Give Up we have endured so much We MusMust Prevail and Continue to Survive for Us and Those That Never Returned Death Before Dishonour. An Australian Medic Who Served in Vietnam all those Years ago It Never Really Ends. Paul
He didn't say a word today He just sat there in his chair And every hour I bought a tray But he never broke his stare If I try too hard he pushes me away My heart forgives a bruise or two Sometimes he cried like a baby in my arms And I rock him like I used to do Do broken soldiers ever mend? Is anybody on their side? In a war without an end, another hero is denied And all the battle weary mothers are the bravest of them all 'Cause they'll fight the war alone before they'll Let their broken soldiers fall They took his uniform away He's no good to them like this And his wife, she didn't stay And he couldn't face the kids A year of waiting for his safe return A year of not so silent prayers He came back but I don't recognize the man He's still missing over there Do broken soldiers ever mend? Is anybody on their side? In a war without an end, another hero is denied And all the battle weary mothers are the bravest of them all 'Cause they'll fight the war alone before they'll Let their broken soldiers fall He wore Australia's flag with pride He did what he did was born to do And now my son is dead in side What a mother supposed to do Do broken soldiers ever mend? Is anybody on their side? In a war without an end, another hero is denied And I'm a battle weary mother wants someone hear my call 'Cause I fight the war alone before I Let my broken soldiers fall We will fight the war alone before we Let our broken soldiers fall

Broken Soldiers is destined to be played the world over in honour of Australian Soldiers and their families.
He didn't say a word today
He just sat there in his chair
And every hour I bought a tray
But he never broke his stare
If I try too hard he pushes me away
My heart forgives a bruise or two
Sometimes he cried like a baby in my arms
And I rock him like I used to do
Do broken soldiers ever mend?
Is anybody on their side?
In a war without an end, another hero is denied
And all the battle weary mothers are the bravest of them all
'Cause they'll fight the war alone before they'll
Let their broken soldiers fall
They took his uniform away
He's no good to them like this
And his wife, she didn't stay
And he couldn't face the kids
A year of waiting for his safe return
A year of not so silent prayers
He came back but I don't recognize the man
He's still missing over there
Do broken soldiers ever mend?
Is anybody on their side?
In a war without an end, another hero is denied
And all the battle weary mothers are the bravest of them all
'Cause they'll fight the war alone before they'll
Let their broken soldiers fall
He wore Australia's flag with pride
He did what he did was born to do
And now my son is dead in side
What a mother supposed to do
Do broken soldiers ever mend?
Is anybody on their side?
In a war without an end, another hero is denied
And I'm a battle weary mother wants someone hear my call
'Cause I fight the war alone before I
Let my broken soldiers fall
We will fight the war alone before we
Let our broken soldiers fall
Just a perfect song sung so good
Beccy gets right to the core of it
Love it and Bec you’re glowing.
