  • Nicole and Wes had some great music choices and let me play some really awesome music. We were able to get the family rocking to the classics too. Everything was going super smooth but of course I left my records in the sun and ruined them. Overall the night went great and I got to see some manatees!

Homie DJing on a pair of TOSTITOS Baked SCOOPS! At that point I would've just DJed with just the slipmats. Good for you on persevering.

Weddings are rough!! 5 off big ups for doing your best even though you had some gear malfunction. Big lesson learned, bring back up, my brother!!! To me there wasn't a crowd to begin with so to get one person dancing when that many people is awesome. And just like i did people left but at the end of the night people came back and freaking partied. So good job for killing it!! I have a Wedding in naples in 2 weeks at a nice venue im looking forward to.

    Just did a Wedding outside
In nyc in the 80s no tent used a towel to cover my gear till I had to play , heat is deadly to our gear.

The control records can be replaced. But how do you get the array grill repaired?

If I were at this wedding and the DJ played that music I would leave.😢

Yea music is subjective. I thought this couple had some really awesome and unique choices but they aren't everyone's taste. At the end of the day it's about celebrating the couple and who they are.

I get it. You can't please everyone! Reading a crowd and switching up styles / genres would be my plan. That crowd was not feeling that music! Be "prepared" to adapt. I hate hearing the same droll music that you hear on Top 40 Radio. There's so many good songs out there. Listen to the music and ask yourself, "is this a good dance track". It may be a nice song but is it a good dancable song. Critical listening! Help your clients make their playlist for a party, not a doctor office visit.

@@gsonn18 I think you are trying to help so I appreciate that but you are misreading the crowd from the video. I literally got tipped $50 mid set by a guest because they enjoyed the music I played while also honoring all the unique music personally picked out by the bride and groom.

@gsonn18 solid advice but I'm pretty sure he did switch up the genres a LOT. A lot of the go to classics were played which would work normally but sometimes you just don't get the crowd who are gonna go crazy on the dancefloor all night.

I hear you both! I just hate the Classics and every Wedding Video that I watch plays Classic Shit and it just kills me. I really am trying to be helpful because I've been listening to a lot of music for the past 3 years. I've been putting together sets for Country, Dance, Pop, House, Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Afrobeat & more. I make sure the tracks are at least a 7 out of 10 or they don't make the cut. I've trained myself to learn to pick tracks based on the genre - you're original/main music foundation mentality has to morph into a different musical understanding. If I happen to watch someones DJ video, I may or may not comment. I may be impressed or I may be dissapointed. My opinion is only my opinion! There are many things (songs) that I don't like that are very popular. I won't tell you I like your set if I don't like your set. Some will impress me - some won't. I'm not easily impressed. I see DJ's on RUclips that are really good at Scratching. If I put out a Scratching Video, those DJ's would not be impressed! Some might leave a critical reply! When I see a really good DJ, they make me step up my game! I have a high standard so I know that if I impress myself, then I'll be ready. And even if I don't impress the best DJ; as long as I impress myself - no one elses critical opinion will matter. If my comments make someone step up their game then that's good. If it pisses them off then Welcome to Social Media.
