Good video!!! It is much more comfortable to be able to see the news this way.
Regarding the new releases, I have been saying for a long time that Herpa Wings has raised the prices too much for the 1:500 scale, which is my favorite. But I think that Herpa hardly releases really surprising news. They are almost always the same airlines. I am happy with the A 320 Edelweiss.

36-38 euros for 727s? That is insane

Bulls-eye! Absolute favorite is the Hawaiian 787, directly followed by the Atlas Air 747-8
Edelweiss 320 and KLM 777 is a nice option
And eventually Air France 727 and KLM 767
For me personally a very good release!
Mr Bongoplane you are very fast with your videos, very nice by the way 😊

Prices of 1:400 have also been increasing rapidly in recent years. Before a narrow-body would have been around 30-40 euros, and wide-body 40-55€.
Nowadays prices are at least 45€, usually over 50. And usually 55€+ for twin-aisle aircraft, some times even reaching over 70€.
Basically, prices of 1:500 are almost the same as 1:400 few years back.

only Hawaiian 789 was worth having for me.
Although customers may have got aged, there are so many aircrafts that are needed to be produced; Alaska 737 normal livery, Asian narrow bodies(AirChina, China southern, ANA, JAL, Malaysia, SQ, Cathay,Vietjet etc), A350-1000 of VS, AirIndia New livery, etc

I'm a big fan of the retro planes and particularly the 727. I am not a fan of Herpa's joke prices.

Sweet video. But I am done collecting 1-500. It is just way too expensive.

What exactly does this have to do with 1/500? Gemini Jets also announced further drastic price increases last week and a Boeing 737-800 now costs just under 54 euros according to the recommended retail price.
If you consider that the Herpa Airbus A320 from Air Canada has a recommended retail price of 37 euros, then I personally think that you can't say that only 1/500 is overpriced, but that the same also applies to 1/400.
Fortunately, you never actually pay the recommended retail price for Herpa models, a 10%-15% discount is almost always possible

I don’t find $46 a bad price for the Atlas 747-8F. I had to have a fella in England make mine for me because nobody had an Atlas in 1/500.

47€ is a lot for a 1/500 Scale model. I can totally understand that, compared to a custom one, a standard factory model seems reasonable for 47€, but you cannot compare these two models.
Of course a 1 mil dollar private jet seems cheap when you have private 747 😅
You need to compare the 47€ retail with the old ~ 15-20 retail prices, and when you do that then 47€ does not look so reasonable anymore.
Especially since Starjets models from the early 2000‘s still offer more printed detailes and the same physical quality as Herpa in 2024.
Inflation alone can‘t justify those prices.
Herpa models, and yes also 747’s, back then when we started collecting were at roughly 15€ . Adjust that in todays 2024 money and you‘ll get 23€ for a 747 :-)
Fun fact: my first models was an Airbus House colors A319 NG. That retailed at 8,70€.
      Adjust that to 2024 and you‘ll get ~ 13€
      Nowadays an A319 is 35€
Still think 47€ is reasonable ?👀
