Thank you Mr. Fludas! I’ve always wondered how he played this; really inspiring to see and hear how he used really simple rudimental ideas to create a such wall of sound. Genius! Well played
Now we are talking. That is stuff I am looking for. And the explanation works so well for me. Big thank you for sharing and the quality content!
Man, you make a set of drums sound really good
thanks Dave!
Some fantastic playing. It's amazing how many variations there are within the same phrase and how much you can do with just a 4 piece kit. Thanks.
I’m here…. I’m baffled by jazz drumming but I’m here…. Watching in awe at the skills on display…..
Slow and steady!! 😁
I like that little set.
Thanks for this lesson !
Sounds like Mitch Mitchell was inspired by this lick and even the drum sound is similar to his early drumming with Jimi Hendrix
Exactly!
mitchell named Elvin Jones as his main influence😊
cool little nugget. thanks!
Thank you so much !
Thank you for thinking a Elvin frase through. Technical proficiency and drumming overview combined.
George, you sound like Elvin. This is a great video. I often wondered about what Elvin played, and now i know...thank you!
Very nice playing and very good sound too ! Thanks
Superb thanks 😊
so fire ! Great playing
Thank you George ❤️
Thanks George. That was a very cool drum lick, Elvin Jones is great. Nice solo work on that kit as well.

I keep coming back to this video. Can you elaborate on how you tune your kit ?
Thank you for this video
Keep ‘em coming!
Killer! Thanks for this!
thats really great !
Happy to see the Elvin analysis. As a rock drummer, I've always found his style to be a bit baffling.
3:50 hes human after all. thank you for this video, your playing is always inspiring.
Oh yeah!
Great playing and sound, Sir. I wonder how old is that Gretsch...regards
Thanks, it's a 69 or 70 kit
Well played, thanks for the lick ! Also good tuning and great sound. What microphone are you using ?
Thanks, Its the Zoom Q2N camera mic!
@ really? It’s not that mic we see in front of the drum kit? Great tuning on a great Gretsch !
@CharlesBeauregard Oh you're right!! Sorry. That's a Shure KSM 137. Its been a while.
What you play 1st, Starting (with the R-accenting first note) Paradiddle-L isn't that a variation on the 5 stroke roll?
I'm not really sure because I'm not playing a double stroke in the left hand. But it is five strokes
snappy fat sound, great!!!! extra punch instead of soft boppy tiny sound! but still jazzy
