This guy is the only guy with a real review on this bike. I went to go look at this bike. It is a lot smaller in person. One thing immediately I do not like, the foot pegs are right where your legs are when you're at a standstill. The ergos are great, quality seems good but dealers where I live will not allow any test demos because of insurance reasons. That sucks. But oh well I hear good things & I like the look and I like to feel. Good job Yamaha bringing it to the US like I told you to. Here's the problem though the ongoing problem with dealerships. I went to buy this bike. This $6990 turned into almost $9k otd WTF! $300 for assembly? Theres nothing to assemble out of the crate. I have to pay for tire and battery disposal when I'm not disposing of any tires and batteries? More wtf. $500 doc fee? Documenting what? To who? $175 administration fee? It goes on & on at every dealer within an hour radius. Dumb. Let's not play any games. You want to sell this f****** bike!? $6990 otd & put the winscreen on. ABS should be standard! No more bullshit used car salesman mentality! And don't tell me it's not doable because a dealership 10 hours away will do it! $6990 + tax & tag. ALL DEALERS SHOULD BE THIS WAY!
I am picking up a MT07 on Wednesday. I test rode for a few miles last Wednesday or Thursday. The smaller size, quickness, and willingness to wheelie reminds of the old Yamaha RD350 two stroke from the days of my youth.
Dude thank you very much, great review, I just bought one few weeks ago and drove it home today. Couldn't agree with you more in all the points you made, fantastic bike.
Hey Cager! Sorry, for the late comments, but you made this 7 months before I bought my NC700X DCT. I also bought Michelin Pilot 3 & 4s for my bike and they are totally worth it. I did look into this naked bike, but the NC700 had the helmet compartment and the DCT automatic option, so it went to the top of my list. My next bike might be a Yamaha or Kawasaki or Triumph.
Finally a proper review for this machine!! Every day I went to your channel to see if the review was there, today was the day...!! And I loved it! Nice work ;)
This model has just been launched here in Australia. It has a slightly smaller capacity 655cc engine unique to the Aust market - maximum torque is 57.5Nm at just 4000rpm, and power tops out at 51.3hp (38.3kW) at 8000rpm. This is so the bike falls into the "learner approved (LAMS)" category here. The LAMS category is a big deal with even some experienced riders buying them due to significantly reduced insurance costs, and higher resale values. Unfortunately no ABS here on the MT-07/09/03 bikes.
Great review cager, love your videos. I just got this bike as my first motorcycle, and I absolutely love it. Be safe out there and keep posting great videos.
Hi mate,I have the restricted Australian version 655cc,just bought this,I really like it ,very learner friendly.I like ur vlogs mate, keep up great work.
I remember watching this for the first time when i got my crush on the MT07, years ago. Last week i got the Night Fluo, Thanks man.. Im 5'5, theres time like i wanna fall when i get the steering lock in slow turn but ill keep learning
Nice review. I love your enthusiasm. I had never heard of the MT-07 (or in Canada, the FZ-07). Just learned we're getting them sometime this year. I've been out of biking for a while and this might be a good fit fo me. Sounds like a fun bike. Thanks!
I'm learning to ride on this bike. My school just bought these. Very easy to handle and good fun. I do get a sore butt though when riding over 1 hour. Not sure about the seat but I have nothing to compare it against :).
This is a very nice test ride and very fun to watch. While watching the video, I hardly keep myself under control so as not to buy the bike immediately. :) Thanks for your effort and your positive attitude.
This looks like such a fun bike. I don't know exactly where you live, but it looks like a fun place to ride. Where I live it takes 4 hours (north) or 4 to 6 hours (south) before I get some elevation changes, other than that it is mostly flat.
Cager this is a great review. Can't wait for you to ride the sfv650 from suzuki. I might prefer the proven reliability of the sfv over the newness, power and weight advantage of the mt-07.
I bought mine this week but ill have two wait untill march because the MT-09 and the MT-07 are sold out in Germany. And the red version is sold out untill September because they didnt expect that red would be the most wanted colour. I'll get mine in White. If anyone wants to get a new bike for small money you should wait untill you get one of these because u wont be disappointed!
Great video! I stayed in cascais during euro 2004, I recognised the Jumbo supermarket. This bike looks incredible. I'm torn between this, the nc750x and the diversion f. Really don't know which One to go for.
Good review, more so than others. All I've heard is praise for the MT07, seems a sensible solid buy. Shame no higher speed cruising comments or cornering etc but ur in the city so little chance of that.
Advice please. I've been riding a 600 for over a year now. Starting to get back pain and im getting tired of the riding position. I dont want to give up the power the 600 has. Im looking into trading it in for either the fz-07 or fz-09. I love the looks and feel of the fz-07 but the fz-09 has more power. Your opinion?
Nice review (as always), but you've made me doubt again... was planing to get a NC750s, but seeing this... I'm not sure... I'm not limited to 35kW, but would this one be a better choice as a first bike, of just stick with my first thought and get the NC750s?
I tried the MT-07 and what a rush... Fun and easy bike to ride, even for a tall guy like myself. For the price tag, it delivers a lot of 'bikeness' B-)
You are wrong about the nc700 being the primary target for this Yamaha. It is the Kawasaki Er-6n. At least it is in france, these two bikes have very similar specs. Apart from that detail your review is fun and informative.
CagerOnTwoWheels I Thought the NC700 success was a particularity of Portugal. Apparently I was wrong, France is the only country where the Honda is not even is the top 50 of 2013. ER-6 is first here. (3 809 ER-6 sold and less than 600 NC700 apparently) But you see what I mean, MT-07 share the same spirit as the ER-6. NC700 is more like a practical bike with an engine designed with A2 restrictions in mind. And you are right, the low price of this yamaha will probably affect NC700 sales, or any cheap bike for that matter since it is available in A2.
Very nice Review! But can you answer me an urgent question? Are you sure that you can take of the middle from the license plate holder to get a shorter look? Some guys told me, that the screw holes not similar... CagerOnTwoWheels
Thanks for the best review on youtube, I sold my fz 09 and want to buy this bike, I didn't like fz 09 jerky throttle and I'm hoping this new fz-07 have smoother throttle than it's bigger brother :)))
You know Yamaha was doing a big recall on the 2014 fz-09 and if you got yours recalled, then Yamaha would have changed the throttle response ecu, and made the throttle smoother.
CockatooDude Yes I know and I went back to Yamaha dealer and bought a 2015 FZ09 again and the throttle is very smooth compared to last year model, here it is my new FZ09 ruclips.net/video/qSQjCRgyKME/видео.html
it's the best rewiev i've ever seen and heard. it's a great bike and a great rider. thank you very much for the best video rewiev ;) cheers from poland
I'm a first time rider (I've got my permit in the US)... I have narrowed my bike choice down between this and the NC700X.... I am having a really tough time deciding which to choose. I love them both! I really want to go on small/long distance trips with my bike as well... Thoughts?
Honda's are very reliable (I had a fireblade) but very boring (that is a matter of opinion, obviously). It does everything very well, but after the first couple of weeks, after you get used to the power, it gets boring. I'd recommend getting the MT-07 and then a good screen with a tank bag (large enough that you can rest your helmet on it when you are riding (if you need to)). That way no wind blastage on the highway.
Cager, Nice reviews of this bike and MT-09(FZ-09 here in the USA). I just sold my DRZ-400S dual sport and having come off of a Ninja 650R(Inline twin) prior to that, do you think the FZ-09 is too much bike for me. I've been riding motorcycles since I was a teenager, but never a bike with the kind of power that the 09 has. I get the impression that the FZ-07 is a little more tame, but as torquey as the 09. As you seem to say in the video on the 09, I think it is much easier to get into trouble with that bike versus the 07'. My question is, provided you respect the throttle in the A mode on the 09, is the bike still controllable or does it surprise you often? Thanks. Be safe!

"My ass is rambling", this may sound strange, but I want to feel that :D
I dont know how many times I have watched both this and the part 2. But one question though, what's your height? And how is the riding position compared to the NC700? Im asking because im in love with this bike but I dont want anything too small (im 185cm high) and I have tried a NC700 and that have a great good size..
Hi Cager, Can you please shine your opinion on the XJ6 diversion, MT07 and the Kawasaki ninja 650? You seem enthusiastic about the MT07 but did go for the XJ6 diversion. Look forward to hear why.
+CagerOnTwoWheels Thanks for your swift reply. So if Yamaha would introduce a faired version of the MT07 you would trade in again? Have a look at this;) www.benl.ebay.be/itm/Yamaha-MT-07-2014-GIVI-PLX2118-pannier-RACK-for-Givi-V35-side-cases-IN-STOCK-new-/221519409879
Well to add a comparison, i had a nc700s and handling in corners was a lot better with nc.Like, A LOT.On the mt i just felt like someone was pulling the front wheel in the curve.Even in tight gymkhana tracks in low speeds rear shocks uselessness almost made me crash.
cager thanks for your reviews. Is the restricted version of this bike good for someone who just got their licence ? No prior experience in bikes. Thanks in advance
Awesome review cager! I'm undecided between the 07 and 09. I've been riding a drz400sm for the past 3 years, and have tones of experience off-road. I like the smoothness and $$$ of the 07, the looks & 'wow' factor of the 09. Seeing as you've ridden both, what would you recommend?
Hi cager, This is a bike I really like. And it comes out in the Netherlands also for the A2 licence. I am a tall guy 1,95m is it comfortable on this bike to be tall ? Grtz
Dear Cager, I had a CBF125, then NC700X. I sold the NC 4 months ago, as it had 83k kms. I cannot find a bike to replace it :( Any advice? Sport-touring, around 100hp.
Hey Cager! I'm looking to buy my first big bike very soon.. Been on a 125 for half a year, I can't decide between CB500F and MT-07 restricted.. Can you give me some advice please? :D
Cager, is the sound really that awesome with stock exhaust? I can't really tell from the video :( Here in Finland the bike is 7250€ + 200€ shipping and another 300€ for the restriction set so it's a little under 8000€ altogether. At the moment my Yamaha dealership said that they can get me Akrapovic exhaust system for 1100€, which in my mind is a bit too expensive. Do you know if there are other cheaper aftermarket exhausts available to MT 07 (f.e. Yoshimura, GPR, LeoVince, Arrow)? However, I'm getting it restricted to 35kW (47hp) until I get my full license.
Insect graveyard haha seems to be true . I would love it with a little windscreen ... There are windscreens but it sucks that I have to pay for one ...
@9:28 The whole reducing the fender without a kit: I have not found a single how to guide on it just fender eliminator kits. Do you have any links or a bike to demonstrate?
This guy is the only guy with a real review on this bike. I went to go look at this bike. It is a lot smaller in person. I skip watching your channel for 1 week and it's right when you test the one bike I've been waiting for. Serves me right.
I love how chill all the cagers are over there with the way your are weaving around them. Here in Australia, driver freak out on the horn like crazy.
Exactly! its common sense isn't it.
***** Hahah You! Seen your vids...proper hooligan you are on your bike :P
More wankers here in Sydney I guess compared to Melbourne
I am picking up a MT07 on Wednesday. I test rode for a few miles last Wednesday or Thursday. The smaller size, quickness, and willingness to wheelie reminds of the old Yamaha RD350 two stroke from the days of my youth.

Portugal looks amazing!
+jordub It's beautiful. Lovely towns.
Loved your review of the MT 07. Watched it almost daily while waiting for my own MT 07 would be ready (still waiting on the plates).... thanks....
Finally a proper review for this machine!!
Every day I went to your channel to see if the review was there, today was the day...!! And I loved it! Nice work ;)
bought one last week.i have 300km on it now.its a great bike.very powerful ,very light.iam so happy .
thank a lot for your video.
I love the scenery. Cool looking place you have there.

Its eventually arrived at the dealers after 3 months !!! Pick it up after xmas, now thats what I call a christmas present

Cager, again that pidgeon. Love it.
I wish you'd compare this bike with the 650 Versys, a bike I think you will enjoy. Keep up the good stuff.

Loved the review that much I'm trading in my cbf 600 for one, shame I have to wait till July to pick it up, very popular in uk
Hey Cgaer, how would you compere the Honda CB650F vs the MT-07 in terms of a bike to have fun on. Like acceleration and so on :)
I love your review man, keep it up!
If only they would make an MT-09 with good ergo's and some wind protection, I'd buy it

I really like your review. Was already planning to buy this mt-07 but no i really have to! :)
Really good job you did here m8
I was wonder what you thought of the Kawasaki ER-6n. The bike seems even better to me from sitting on them at a bike show over the weekend.
Nice review (as always), but you've made me doubt again... was planing to get a NC750s, but seeing this... I'm not sure...
I'm not limited to 35kW, but would this one be a better choice as a first bike, of just stick with my first thought and get the NC750s?

it's the best rewiev i've ever seen and heard. it's a great bike and a great rider. thank you very much for the best video rewiev ;) cheers from poland
If you had to choose between the MT-07 or the Honda CB650F which would it be?
I got one, last month:) The weather's been shitty, but I'm calmly awaiting the right time to befriend the new creature:)
I'm a first time rider (I've got my permit in the US)... I have narrowed my bike choice down between this and the NC700X.... I am having a really tough time deciding which to choose. I love them both! I really want to go on small/long distance trips with my bike as well... Thoughts?

Jeeps4life97TJ sv650 or Vstrom.
would you recommend this bike for a rider who is NOT new but upgrading from 250cc bike (ninja, cbr, duke) to something stronger?
Cager,
Nice reviews of this bike and MT-09(FZ-09 here in the USA).
Thanks. Be safe!
Excelente review! Deve ser uma excelente mota para umas curvas, leve e com potencia suficiente.
Love your reviews! Always interesting to watch! :)
No one ever talk about passenger comfort or how it is 2 up.
Nice to know before buying a bike if you plan on doing rides with your love one 😉
Great work cager! But your nc750x video convinced me to buy a honda. Don't stop testing bikes m8!
Great bike, and it seems to be great fun !
What a beautiful bike... I'm jealous.

best review for mt-07 . thanks
Great review! Now it would be interesting to make a comparison with the 4-cylinder Yamaha FZ8. Could you try the 2014 model? Now it has new suspension ;)
I love the look os the Headlight!
I think it would look ugly with a screen...
Which one between MT-07 and XJ6 for beginners?
Cager onde viste a info relativamente ao guarda-lamas traseiro? Não encontro nada que diga que o braço é removível para ficar mais curto
So if Yamaha would introduce a faired version of the MT07 you would trade in again?

algum stand em particular para venda desta moto que tenhas confiança ?
cager thanks for your reviews.
Mt09 tracer
Hope you bought the 09
A quick question....would you prefer this bike or the duke 390? Cheers.
BTW, thoes tyres are the best in wet, but I read a magazine that gave them one of the lowest score in dry riding. Do you agree?
My friend you have to test the Kawa z800e!!
Could you do the fazer 800 please your reviews are the best
It is a nice bike I pass my bike test on the MT-07
I've been waiting for this! Awesome bike!
Hi cager,
This is a bike I really like. And it comes out in the Netherlands also for the A2 licence. I am a tall guy 1,95m is it comfortable on this bike to be tall ?
Grtz
optima review. la para o verao estou a pensar em adquirir esta mota. onde fica este stand?
Na marginal, em Cascais, perto da linha. abr
Awesome review, I have to ask, how do you record your voice so clear?
Dear Cager, I had a CBF125, then NC700X. I sold the NC 4 months ago, as it had 83k kms. I cannot find a bike to replace it :( Any advice? Sport-touring, around 100hp.
Nice little bike!
I want it so badly!!!
You would look real good on a 2009 GSXR 600
The was just a pink and white o e
One*
New face photo brown...looking good!
Better get a bike soon!
How tall are you, Cager? I'm 5 feet 11 inches tall. Really like this bike, but I am afraid I'll be too cramped.
Hey Cager! I'm looking to buy my first big bike very soon.. Been on a 125 for half a year, I can't decide between CB500F and MT-07 restricted.. Can you give me some advice please? :D
Any chance you've ridden a Gladius as well and can advise as to the comparison with this?
Is it possible to use this bike on a daily basis? Commuting with a backpack / laptop?
cager , podesme disser se é legal em portugal passar no meio de dois carros parados e fazer filtering?

After your Video, i've bought my own MT 07. Could you please make a video about the MT 09 Tracer? :D
Qual o teu veredicto? Esta ou a NC750s ?
Insect graveyard haha seems to be true . I would love it with a little windscreen ... There are windscreens but it sucks that I have to pay for one ...
In my country MT-07 costs 5990 (wthout abs) , ~6450 with abs and nc 750x 8.100 (with abs) ...
you made me buy this bike already.

@9:28 The whole reducing the fender without a kit: I have not found a single how to guide on it just fender eliminator kits. Do you have any links or a bike to demonstrate?
Cager, would it be comfortable for 30mins city ride everyday? (meaning the riding position and the seat mostly)
You make the best reviews, by the way, I have already ordered mine :-)
