Good gosh! I guess it could of been worse so, you were lucky...in a way. At least you got all your important stuff/documents back. It's hard to say if the hotel is at fault for not having better security/door lock, this type of crime could happen anywhere....even at the best of hotels. Always put a chair in front of the door, I always do that when staying at a hotel, in the least....it will slow the intruder down and hopefully it will make noise so, that it may alert you. I've never been a victim but, I do this due to other people's stories/bad experience and I still do this even if the door has a dead bolt type lock/security. Also, I noticed in the past, any hotel that also offers a Hostel tend to draw in some of the bad element individuals so, avoiding hotel/hostel establishments is a good idea.....just a thought? Good luck in the future!
Thanks Daredevil, I know that it could have been much, much worse - yes my wife suggested the chair idea when I got home...and I've been doing it ever since :)
Thanks for the tip Micha, I'll have a look at that. I'm in Dresden next month, but I believe that the people who I am working for are putting me up in a luxury apartment near the Frauenkirche. I'll keep the Radisson in mind though for future trips after that.
Sounds like an inside job. Perhaps someone 'clocked' you at reception as you were checking in and may have seen you putting all your documents and wallet back into your jacket pocket and took their chances and paid you a visit at 5.40am!!
I can honestly say, that I have never had any problems when travelling around Europe, apart from having to be aware of pickpockets loitering around tourists spots. I look forward to seeing more video's from you in the future.
Robert Mansfield in all honesty I’ve had virtually no problems at all anywhere. This was hopefully a one off. It certainly won’t stop me travelling and making films!
Moss Travel TV Ah ok, ta. Didn't see that review. Was just hoping it wasn't where I'm staying in Berlin next. Anyway, thanks for the channel. I love it - especially all the Germany vids.
All good in Berlin. I didn't like the Meininger in Summer as it has no air con, just air recycling which is ineffective when it's 30 degrees! Enjoy Berlin, it's a great city.
I stayed here some years ago and found the staff to be very weird and dodgy. Australian checking in here, very nostalgic seeing this place again.

My tip for your next Dresden trip, Radison Park Inn Neustadt. Very good Hotel!

Moss Travel TV Ok. I was there about 30 times in the last 7 years and it was allways everything fine.

Robert Mansfield I’m pretty sure it was an inside job to be honest. Never again will I stay there.

I am so sorry to hear of your terrible adventures....as you say, you will not stay there again in a hurry!!
Thanks for the comment Bruce, once bitten twice shy!
...and this makes two hotels you'll never visit again. Both German.
Yes true! I think overall, considering how many places that I do stay that I've been fairly lucky - it could have been worse.
What was the other one?
@Carl Ludwig It was Hotel Acon in Dusseldorf, which was awful.

Your robbery sounds very much like a inside job to me
As much as I would wish others, I can't help but feel in agreement with that sentiment.
