I say that every time I watch this show . They pretend like that’s all take home. Income is about 65% of my gross for me and I’ve got bare minimum taxes coming out.
@@grantv2313that's tough I keep 80% of my paycheck after taxes in Nevada on 80k but there's also no state or local income taxes
I always wonder if that’s their gross or net income when they answer that question.
@@mad2msu They often say their GROSS income. Which is truly different from take home. Her take home may be $70,000 or less.
Unless the person says GROSS, they are asked by the call screener to give their net.

@@muradshawar Its not about the money; I know what place Courtney was in emotionally. One thing I realize; the employer does not give you the yearly salary upfront. Those big numbers does a psychology flip in your mind.
Yikes 60k is a lot in cc debt. Totally doable tho! I did it in two years, over $45k in debt and half the income 10 years ago. It felt great tackling the debt and taking full control of my finances, learned a valuable lesson in my 20s…never again will credit card debt own me! ✌️
That’s a lot of money. And then the interest adds to it especially if she’s only paying the minimum. It would take her decades to pay on cards that she’s not using. If she continues to use them the situation is even more dire. She obviously needs to change her outlook financially to secure a future for herself and her family.

I worked a second job and by the time the pay came it wasn’t worth it. It was £11 per hour but after tax because it was a second job I had like £5 😢

She makes $100k a year and with a low house payment there is no reason she can't live very well on this and pay off her debt.
I think she has other debt that probably wasn't mentioned like I can almost guarantee she has a car loan over 35k

Adversity introduced me to the brown rice and black beans diet. Not only did this diet help me get through financial difficulty, I also came out of the situation with big muscle 😃😃
And cut your electric expense, reduce your food budget, dont drive your car except in absolutely needed..
He was so nice to her, he asked if he could be mean… he wasn’t at all. That’s really nice and I hope it helps her. Sometimes people need tough love, but they also deserve compassion.

Dave needs to start asking for after tax and deduction income and not just plugging the 100K into the formula
I've always noticed he does this. He talks as if the gross is all available to tackle the debr being discussed. $100K = maybe $70K once the government gets their hands on it.
I always think the same runny, I made $64,000 but actualized income with deductions is $47,000, that makes a difference

Yes when I hear 100k it makes me think she’s not going to be the best at beans and rice. I make 40k...45 including my 2ndpart time job. Canadian. In expensive Canada. So I actually know why it’s like to budget and eat beans and rice. Cuz I’ve had to. But no debt. Because I’ve always lived frugally. Didn’t even get a cell phone til I was 40 because even tho I wanted one I didn’t need it. And it was an expense. Didn’t buy cable. Didn’t shop or go out much. It’s all possible...if u choose to just spend what u have to spend and not spend more. (This is typically...there are exceptions like tragedies and disasters that are out of our control and make sticking to the budget impossible...but those are rare). And of course I grew up with privilege like a decent brain and skills. And parents that loved me. Not money. But support. So I learned how to budget and sacrifice. I haven’t walked in others shoes. So I’m not trying to shame anyone...just suggesting that living simply with very little can be freeing and fun and fine.
No faking your death is never the answer!! You got to tackle it the old fashion way!! Knock it out while facing it!!

It’s always funny when this question comes up. What do you do? You pay your debt. You pay back the money you spent. And then stop spending money that isn’t yours. How hard is that

@@richthepup a lot of it is now interest because shes only paying the minimum each month. Purchases add up if you are living above your means. A couch is $5000 here . Maybe clothes for her and the kids. Electronics. Car Repairs. Eating out. the list goes on....

That really should have been mentioned in this video, but it's understandable that Dave can't cover all the aspects. My wife and I went through that for a while. Single folks wouldn't really understand. Since the kid is only three now, this lady has years of this to deal with.
I think after all these years of giving advice, he knows that possibility, but she has to overcome that. It doesn't take thousands of dollars a month to be a fun parent to a 3-year-old. Experiences and time spent count, too.

I have a friend who was raising her son with very little support from her ex because he worked under the table as much as possible.
He became the fun dad with UTVs and big televisions, and the kid went to live with him.
Once the dad got xoustody you bet your behind he went for all the support he could- and got it since legally it looked like he was low income.
He became “Disneyland Dad”.

I feel uncomfortable when I’m not in debt. I’ve gotten out so many times and jump right back in because life feels off when I’m out of it.

Maybe it feels unnatural to be a success? I know someone who was constantly told while they grew up that they were going to not amount to much in life. So, for a long while they lived up to that expectation, didn't try very hard in life. When they DID start to turn things around, set goals and reach them, it felt unnatural, undeserved. They would then self sabotage to feel "normal" again. Sad.
You need a hobby.
Watch some videos on self sabotage. That's what you are doing, it's because deep down you dont feel worthy of a good life so you subconsciously do things to destroy your own success.

What do you do when you're on disability, and can't work to pay debt down? I hate being in debt. Some of it is from buying decent food, and supplements to restore my health. Insurance doesn't cover supplements, and I'm allergic to a lot of meds.
Fasting can help with health issues and it is free, no spending on supplements or food.

I have about 74,000 in credit card debt since there are past due now and the interest charges each month. It’s just pushing them higher and higher. I’m not doing anything about it so I’m just gonna have to just keep pounding me. I just ignore him and I blocked her calls. Lol I am on a monthly fixed income. Social Security and I found out they cannot touch that anyway it’s protected. So just let him go. I don’t care what they do anymore. I just ignore it. Lol.

This lady might have refinanced her home and then got another credit card. Then within 6 months she would have put another 60 k on it.
