The new style boxes stack easier because you can slide in one side first and then click down the other side - kinda similar to the new Systainers. The old style requires exact vertical alignment to click together.
The inlay tray I received with a new GOP 18 V-28 Oscillating multitool will not fit within the old style L-boxx. 😖. Would it have killed Sortimo just to maintain the same internal dims!!? Also the inlay trays Bosch provide with their tools are just nasty; flimsy and Ill fitting.
I didn't know i could open the new ones while another box was on top. But i never missed that possibility. I like the old ones because they are more rigid. Especially the type 4 a plunge saw comes in feels quite weak.
They look almost the same except for the older one the Plastics more rigid especially on the sides in front I have the older style and I liked it I don't know if I'd like to newer one.
@@DonQLE I only have the older type box & have managed to break a small part off it although overall it seems strong enough. The new one does look flimsier at the sides. The plastic is much harder & more brittle than the old Makita boxes I had which seemed unbreakable but were not stacking. I prefer the Makita material but not the fixed blow moulded interiors where you can barely get the cable back in to shut the lid. I suppose it depends on how you look after your tools. Some folk stand on them & just throw them about or chuck materials on top of them in the van etc. The standard L-boxx tray is very annoying as small tools, screws, drill bits etc can fall down the sides & get stuck. A right pain & the worst bit about the system. But you can make your own custom interior with foam or similar material.
Very useful video many thank you. I was gong to update mt 2x 102 boxes but I have cancelled the order after seeing your video. The quality is really degraded on the new boxes. Older ones are rock solid.
U haveing a laugh the catches are terrible u can bend them the plastic is that thin they just feel awfull quality. Only upside to the older box is stronger side walls thats about it.
I bought the new ones as well, they are not that flimsy as they look. I liked the possiblity to open the bottom one when stacked. I am happy with them👍
Systainers (T-loc) are designed better. They are strong and very easy to stack and lock together with one hand. I feel comfortable to stand on a systainer with my 75kg, not on an L-boxx. The downside is that they are more expensive and Bosch is using L-boxx. They are both great systems though!
Thanks for posting this video, I'm interested in going with the new l-boxx's, mainly because being able to access boxes that are stacked below. The new boxes look a bit flimsy when the lids are open, are you still using them and what are your thoughts? Cheets
The problem with the new system is that all the weight from the box hangs off the lid and therefor the clips that hold the lid. If you have further boxes hung below they too hang of the clips for the lid. The old boxes the boxes clipped together and all the weight was taken through the box structure.
@@titaniumjones Not as bad as systainers, where all the weight is off one catch (rather than two) and that has little camming action. All modern systems clamp by lid to allow clamped access. If you want a lot stronger, go ToughSystem (4mm thick) or PackOut.
I have new boxes, they are not more fragile than the old model, the new ones are more flexible, when you lift two boxes together in the old model the side locks of the upper box supported all the weight of the two, now as a lock in the cover, the bottom cover flexes a bit and distributes the weight more between the two, and a great advantage is that the top cover on the new model covers everything and makes them really waterproof, which the old model was not, and those of us who move expensive tools outdoors is very important, greetings!

you can also open an l boxx with another l boxx attached on top without removing it
Hi, the lid insert template in the background at 4:34. Where did you get that? Is it possible to get a pdf of that please?
which one is new?
The new one is on the left. And then on the top.
Same question. SMH

New is better just for the feature for been able to access a certain box without removeing the others.
What are the little white clips (on the bottom) for?
They're spacers to stop the boxes locking together. If you want to stack the boxes loose without them locking, leave the spacers attached.
"WHO EVER GAVE THE GO AHEAD FOR THE NEW STYLE ..NEEDS TO LEAVE BOSCH " !
Thank you, exactly what I wanted to see!

The newer one is of rather poor quality. And, above all, it is less durable.

The silent review.
Weird ass silent review. Kreepy with the weirdo hand gestures.
I’m very tempted to switch from Systainers to Lboxx. I’m not too deep into the ecosystem that the cost would be dramatic.
Decisions decisions.
Do it. Systainers allow you to get into the items of a stacked set. Alas, I'm in way too deep to make the change.
@@boxsterman77 Doesn't the new version of the L-Boxx allow you to do that?

@@titaniumjonessorry but the old box had all the weight carried by the lid the top one anyway. The latches were terrible.

You misunderstood. He meant while lifting, all weight is hanging on clips
