Obj 907 with its tracer shell mechanic "should" be in the list. Coupled with its 300m view range or camo values, it excels in this role. Plus it has the additional armor compared to lights and can bounce the odd shell.
I play the role of spotting in my 907 if my team has no lights.

I have seen some people play Sheridans like glass TDs rather than light spotters. Actually it is not a bad strategy because they have a punch like a TD and can quickly move to a different location.
