To receive a gift in mailbox, your have to give pets to santa and you have to be active player in game playing for couple of hours. You will not receive gift from Santa if you leave game,this is what ive been told.
There is a big chance you should save your gold huges because it might be a new huge / Titanic then the next update come and then sell it over 10m gems it only work if your pet/buy golden huges around 25m to 40m gems

I went out this morning and spent all my gems I saved up. Bought 25 huges to enter and nothing lol. Weeks worth of grinding down the drain..

If you use small pets and make 30 points you get usually ornament i have hundreds of them doing that. It takes time but worth it.
