I'm a fan of Laura but I agree with the judging. Her second round was the best but the final round lacked energy, when it's a very energetic song. She could have went ham on that song. Doyah wasn't super energetic either but I felt his energy matched the song better. I feel guilty writing this comment but my pointless criticism would be that Laura's moves always look really clumsy - kind of how toddlers dance? As if she is doing moves that her body doesn't have the range and flexibility for. I could be totally off on this but my impression is that she is doing a style that doesn't quite suit her natural movement. Her style in 2012 was perfect for her body and just needed development but I think this elastic band type movement suits somebody with longer limbs, who is flexible. A good example of this is Kyoka and D Soraki - they have the gangly body type and flexibility for this type of movement. I always felt that she actually would excel in popping, waacking or house dance.
i think her first and second round were great. her style is good, but you are comparing stamina and athleticism. her tiebreaker round lacked energy because yeah she was already tired. honestly, laura's main issue in this battle is the lack of variety of leg concepts or glides in her repertoire or at least not in this battle. Hats off to her for taking him to a tie break. She should get more credit for that. He did go on to win the entire battle. So she's a much better dancer than you are critiquing. She lost to the eventual champion of the battle. That makes her on pair with everyone else that battled Doyah after her battle with him. She absolutely could've done better. And to me, the last round was a TIE. It was a tie, because for Doyah to be very much a beat killing machine, he does it on the beat, and also on the lyrics. He did not know the lyrics very well of the last song. Thats why his last round wasn't as good. He wasn't a familiar with it. Neither was Laura. But stamina and athleticism in physical movement as far as energy and projection matter to how your performance is judged.....the edge goes to the gentleman.
