Professor Yuan Sha of the China Central Music Conservatory is truly fabulous, isn't she? I love the way she interprets every piece of ancient instrumental music, and even edit some of it that stuns.....I absolutely love most of every piece of her playing...she keeps me on the edge of my seat everytime....

However, this word together with 石shi, or 泉石 means Spring Stone or Tanzanite. So 临泉 actual means Spring Stone of the Forest. The composer, Mr. Ye XiaoGang, of the above piece was played by Yuansha in its debut in 2001. Mr. Ye combined both Chinese classical form with modern musical technique to create this piece, based on inspiration from a famous painting called 林泉高之基 by Song Dynasty painter Guo Xi. The latter loves to follow his father into the forest and greatly enjoyed being with nature. Most of his paintings reflects the sceneries of that time. Therefore, one can expect this piece of music to be in tune with nature. Incidentally, Ms. Yuan played this piece in 2005 at the China Music Golden Bell Award and won 1st prize for it.
The title translation is a bit confusing, The context suggests 春 spring not the 水 spring. "a spring in the woods" or "a forest spring" would suggest the water spring English is a strange language but you probably know that,. BTW thanks for another Yuan Sha masterpiece.
I'm sure this piece is difficult to play, and Yuan Sha did a great job on it, but I just don't like the melody very much. It's weird and hard to follow.
