He probably has no money to look after himself, given that he's on drugs: the money goes straight to his dealer, no doubt.
It's three years later and the thief has:
a. Repented, changed his ways and become a credit to his community.
b. Not learned a thing and will probably be beaten to death by a home owner.

same exact thing happened to me. and i live in a middle class neighborhood. the scumbag stole 10 dollar fish heaters . I wish I had a camera to catch him or her stealing it. I've had many packages delivered over the years and never had any stolen. that was a first and i will never forget it

In Los Angeles they don't even wait until the package is delivered. They follow the delivery truck around then raid it. Which stops traffic, so those people raid the truck also.

Mail a tracking device to yourself. After thief takes the box, follow the signal with GPS. Then you'll find them.

not for criminals. they don't care about him and they will throw him back on the streets in a couple months so he can keep stealing from people. but if you are a good citizen, have money and make a mistake they will go after you to make a name for themselves.

There was a package thief in the nhood here. Until I loaded up an Amazon box with literally 15 lbs of pitbull craaap and water. Whoever that was that took it hasn't been back since.

Get a USPS P.O. Box and send your packages there. It's not a federal crime if they steal your packages from UPS or FEDEX. But if they steal a USPS package, that's federal prison time.

You need to change the heading of your video and add his full name and make sure it stays posted. This way if anyone ever needs to do a background check on him he can't hide from his past.

Note to people with security cameras, don't place Christmas decorations and other things in the view area of the camera. That small blocked area could reveal something you missed because something was in the way of the very thing you need to see.
Nothing should get in the way of that camera's view.
Put their picture EVERYWHERE all over the area!!

After one theft (after more than ten years of no thefts at all),
I now have all of my Amazon packages sent to the nearest Amazon Hub.
It’s a little inconvenient, but I ALWAYS receive my packages now.
Certainly, the perp is "connected" to other thefts. A thief does not just steal once and then lead an exemplary life. Stealing IS the way of life for a thief. When one thief is stopped and jailed it prevents dozens and possibly hundreds of additional thefts.
He should have followed him to see where he was going and once there call the cops. The cops would have found a package with his name on it and that would be all she wrote

Its crazy that they just leave the packages on the porch. Even in 3th world countries you have to sign for it and if there is no one home they leave a note to go pick it up at the post office or some were
Now, during the "pandemic", some carriers simply photograph it on the porch rather than even ringing the bell to let you know its there! So if it's stolen they'll claim "Well, we DID deliver it!". We had DHL try that, and went back through our door camera and THEY HAD LIED ABOUT EVEN HAVING DELIVERED IT! NO TRUCK EVER SHOWED UP!

You can atache a metal box with an open padlock to the concrete in your driveway and leave a note for the ups guy.when nobody answers the door, He puts the parcel in the box and closes the padlock.

With the high volume of internet shopping it is a good idea to place a large planter or decoration on the steps for the package to be placed behind and out of the view of the thieves.
Many thieves actually follow the mailman on his route, so its not completely safe.

Iam surprised they leave a pkg on the doorstep, here in Germany they ring your bell if no answer they leave a notice with instructions of where and at what time you can retrieve it mostly at there facility during normal business hours.

Real idiotic system you have over there in the states! Here in Sweden you have no such problem due to our system is that the one getting the package is getting from the post office or if it is delivered it has to be received by the one addressed on the package or the package goes back to the post office and they send a notification that they have tried to deliver it and no one was answering at the door, so then you have to go to the post office to get it! No stolen packages that way!
I just say it is the situation that makes the thief in this case! Better change the situation to get rid of the problem!
I solved this problem. I put out boxes containing feces (human crap from the toilet) to be decoys. The boxes look like they came from the various places I order from on line. After a few boxes got stolen the thief never came back! In case a new thief shows up I have the boxes outside waiting!

Great detective work! You got this man busted. Stealing should have consequences. Sounds like the police were more concerned about charging him with drug charges. Was he charged with theft? Neighbor watch people! If the bad guy/gale happens to get a boo boo stealing just remember : Saying OPPS! fixes anything. Maybe they might fall into a trunk, go on a short 45 minute ride to some where and be dropped off. They might even accidently fall into a blind fold, with their hands nylon tied behind their back. Accidents happen all the time, don't ya know.

I have lost several bottles of liquid fertilizer over the years so I put round up salt in a half empty bottle and left it in the garden. After a couple of days it was gone and one of the houses in the next street has lots of its plants dying off. I also left a fuel tin with a quarter of it filled with sugar. I'm sure someone's whipper sniper isn't working after the fuel tin went missung

From what I've seen these thieves don't actually use the stolen items.
They keep it in storage as souvenirs. They actually pay money to store them.
So not only the victims lose money, the thieves lose money too. No one wins.
