- In a conversation with Barkha Dutt, former Finance Minister & senior Congress leader P Chidambaram says that Operation Parakram, a military standoff between India & Pakistan that saw massive troop build-up after the December 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament, was a terrible mistake and a wasteful exercise. He also reveals that troop build-up was considered again in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, but that India 'didn't want to repeat an Operation Parakram'.

Chidambaram's speaking skill is beyond "perfect"
Thank God the interviewer is not a TV anchor. He allowed the one being interviewed to make her view without being interrupted. Hope TV anchors would take a cue from Chidambaram. It is such a dignified interview. Bravo!

Mr Chidambram has such a bad reputation. It is bizarre that only in this country such character facing corrupt charges is given prominence of some sort.

When Congress was in Power, such issue regarding jobs did not arise. Same propaganda was lunched during Bajpai Government by Cong. That was a false narrative. Because there is no reliable mechanism available in India till date. Subsequently when Bajpai Government lost and after three to four years when the actual figure arrived from experience, it was found that Bajpai's NDA Government did much better and based on that performance UPA Government thrived without doing any substantial labour . Jobs created during Bajpai Government was 6 crore and that during UPA government of 10 yrs was 1.5 crore. Congress ruled for 55 years and specially during the period when some one from Gandhi Family was at the helm the situation was very myassmic . Rate of growth was 2-3 percent. When they are out of power the party suddenly remembered the word jobs. It is a party of corrupts.

Without knowing how to administer the economy (as you claim), how did the current government achieve: (a) A steady reduction in budget deficit as a % of GDP every year since 2014 to about 50% of where you left in 2014? (b) A dramatic growth in foreign exchange reserves and FDI (Foreign Domestic Investment) since 2014? (c) A reduction in inflation and unemployment rates? (d) Such vastly improved foreign relations as well as stronger national defence? You have been foolishly predicting a "decline" and "collapse" in the Indian economy for the past 18 months ... but what we have witnessed is growth in every quarter during the same period. Looks like either you have lost touch with the economy or your views and analysis are tainted by your own corrupt self and political prejudice. In the end, Congress - a national party once upon a time - has now been reduced to a regional party running only two states one of which you may lose soon. What does that say about your economic and/or political prowess? In this situation, why should we take you seriously man?
