  • Its not an easy life when you are the Chief Gardener's Assistant. Helper. Second Class.
As one day you are trimming the bushes, and the next a Demon shows up and kidnaps the princess Leila!
And to cap if all of the guards think you had something todo with it, and throw you in jail.
So lets join Sinbad Jr and he breaks out and goes to save the Princess.

Great review, thanks for it. I loved playing Arabian Nights a lot. The music fits also perfect to the great gameplay. I wished there where more like this.

Thanks, and yeah the music was lovely.
I do wish they had made more games in this style with a mix of platforming and puzzling.

What a lovely, charming game. My favourite part is the music on the first level. It perfectly captures the theme of Arabian Nights.

I can’t help feeling the guards just unceremoniously dropped you in to the dungeon through a hidden trapdoor so they didn’t have to carry you across all the traps & platforms? 😄
Arabian Nights is beautifully presented, looks great & I personally think the sound track’s great for it’s day.
I actually learned about it from your cover disk face off episode I think? I wouldn’t mind picking up an original copy to play on ‘real metal’.
    Great review, thanks.

I played this games so many times. It had so much more charm then a lot of other platformers and the puzzle elements made it a bit more interesting.

I've heard this game get brought up a fair few times, typically in regards to the Amiga CD32. Such mentions are typically positive, often highlighting Arabian Nights as one of the strongest platformers on the system.
0:24 - Quite the conclusion to jump too, but hey, a prison escape sequence is always cool.
1:15 - Always nice when they have fun the manual. An aww, got to love the old school large boxes for these Amiga games.
2:10 - Also, wow; that's quite a challenge from the get-go. An optional room and specific time floating platforms with hazards below. Not much space to get used to the controls or physics. Impressive jumps on your part and the game looks great visually.
5:14 - Nicely flowing adventure elements. Typically when this game is shown off, it's just the prison level and the flying carpet level, so it's nice seeing this forest level get demonstrated. Funny enough, it seems less hazardous and more easy going than the introductory stage.
8:04 - Loving the sense of humour both to this game and to your video here.
8:39 - The amount of options for the difficulty is very much appreciated. The range of challenge seemed all over the place in level design but these options here certainly help.
12:21 - To be fair, it is the final level, so coping with ice physics seems a befitting challenge and they do utilise it for some level design and puzzles here quite effectively from what I can see on screen. Again, I've heard good things about this game and everything you're showing confirms the high praise.

Awesome game, hard, but also very fun at some parts :) creating flying carpet always put smile on my face. I wonder did anybody finished levels with 100% score.

I can't even imagine what you would need to do to 100% the carpet levels, the amount of shots it takes for some of those baddies are way too high!

@GouldFishOnGames After getting 86% on the first level I give up, I got every gem, every secret room, defeat every guard and step on every platform. I wonder how game calculate that % of level complete.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was it looks like Soccer Kid and surprise surprise its the same dev :D

From what I've read they made this game, and then used the basic engine with a bit of the Man United football game they also made. To create Soccer Kid, so it shares a lot of the same movement.
It also has the same sound effects!

@2:03 You'd think their kingdom would be more advanced given their gravity defying platform tech. Just think of the endless applications. Travel, logistics, agriculture, manufacturing. The best they could come up with was replacing a bridge.
