This series is set in the perspective of the zeon which are the "bad guy's" who started the war trying to claim the earth because they were driven away and sent into space with the gundam being a horror factor
this series was made by former warhammer animators, rendered in unreal engine 5, it takes place in the same timeline as the original 1979 gundam show during what was called the "one year war" where the principality of zeon and to that extent the humans from space(spacenoids) declared war against the earth federation representing those who live on the earth, the invasion of the spacenoids was so effective it drove back the earth federation back to earth because of their new state of the art mech or mobile suit known as the zaku. That was early on the war but eventually the federation was secretly developing their own mobile suit which is called the gundam albeit it took a while before it was finally mass produced therefore it only came about late into the war which is why its just now pushing back zeon into space in this story and eventually they will defeat zeon. The gundam unlike the zaku was made specifically to fight against other mobile suits and not just against ships and people hence why its got superior armor and weaponry, zeon didn't take this matter into account considering they underestimated the federations ability to develop their own mobile suits not knowing the only pupil of Minovsky the developer for the zaku is currently working for the federation. Anyways late in the war the Gundam is mass produced and its mass production counterpart the one with no face and just a visor is caller a GM which is short for Gundam Mass production since it is a simplified version of the gundam, nonetheless the gundam also had its own limited production line albeit usually it is only given to ace pilots like in the original show with Amuro Ray who is a newtype, newtypes are like humans who evolved a sixth sense due to being raised in space in order to adapt to the conditions, basically they are space espers.
Minor correction, only its director is a 40K fan animator, the studio that's making the animation itself is Safehouse, a Japanese CG animation studio, in collaboration with Sunrise, the studio that animates all other Gundam content. Nothing important obviously I'm just saying
One problem with war is not every soldier is going to be a raging single-minded fanatic. Some are just trying to do what’s right when they enlist, even if they’re completely naive to the greedy, selfish, destructive whims of their leaders.
The Zeon( the ones with the Zakus(the one eyed ones with axes) are simply the Space Nazi's with a Malcolm X mentality. The Gundams are USUALLY fighting for the federation BUT sometimes Zeon gets lucky and steal one or re-purpose one to their liking

Drop a colony on people, bully those they consider inferior to do what they want, steal tech from someone who made it to help people and turn it into a weapon that forced our enemies to make something to fight that now. @MoreReggieWolf This takes place 1 day prior to operation Oddesa were the federation push zeon back into space and month later the war ends. If you want a neutral perspective, watch first gundam thunderbolt movie. Tragic characters on both sides.
This real deal if this work we might fet more 3d gundam more in future if you want in gundam uv i think you should go for Witch from Mercury first because it kinda new gundam anime because most gundam are at least be 2010 anime
just watched it. OK production, people moans about DIE and poor CGI, but the real big problem is this new series is making space Nazis seem like victims. They INVADED EARTH and got beaten up by Earth Federation, which is what a invader usually deserve but in this they are painting the Zeons to be nice guys, unacceptable.
