Cheers, Walter. You've been incredibly helpful and continue to be so for the past two years for a now 25yo fella in Dublin. Your crypto advice were insightful and helpful too. Please keep these up.Take care and all the best.
Great video walter, i recently had a consultation with ask paul. They were charging 1.5% per year to invest in their zurich fund. Also told me i could get a 1.25% rate if i invested 20k upfront. Absolutely scandalous charges in my opinion. Safe to say i decided to go with a passive fund on de giro instead
Very good video. We have an approved retirement fund (ARF) with New Ireland where the annual managment fees are 1.2%. (Goodbody Dividend Income 3) Fees were similar when we were saving with AVCs. Is it possible to invest an ARF with funds with low management fees of 0.07% or similar?
Thanks - very handy calculator. What I don't find clear and still don't know (despite having bought a few ETF's) is when exactly the fees are deducted, is it on exit or does it differ per platform?
Hey walter could you do a video on that new mandatory retirement fund released by the government for people in the private sector if you know anything about it? Also if it's worth staying in it or pulling out
What is the alternative to these funds ? Is it the likes of vanguard funds on DEGIRO and the likes where you manage the tax end of things yourself? Again it boils down to confidence, knowledge and the tax end of things . My husband would rather overpay the mortgage than invest and st times thst seems easier and safer ! Thank you for the content . I really enjoy your perspective.

Good video as always - Thanks Walter. And all this before we start dealing with the tax on ETF's compared to shares!!

Jesus 1.5% is huge, I was looking for that last night to see what they charged. Very difficult to see them quote that anywhere

Its built in to the returns on the fund, so it get deducted daily in most cases
@@walterdunphy294 I appreciate the response, thankyou. That's good to know that there won't be any unexpected surprises.
Thank you Walter, I am thinking of setting up a fund for my kids, noting serious just a couple of k... ETFs seem to be the best option... any tips?
Thanks William, definitely worth doing a bit of research on bare trusts for kids too
@@walterdunphy294 Thx Walter, Ill have a look into it.
I'm have invested in to EIMI for emerging markets and can't figure out if it pays divides it's a accumulative etf is this why I see no dividend ?
If it says it's Acc (Accumulative) then it re-invests the dividends

What about taxes? If invest money on a fund with an Irish broker see such as Zurich or Irish Life, how am I taxed?
If it is a regular investment fund rather than for your retirement its 41% exit tax

Hey Sean, I'll actually have to look into this. Not up to speed with it at the moment
@@walterdunphy294 cheers 👌
So this is the likes of Zurich funds ? This is a real eye opener
Yeah exactly, a lot of those funds charge 1% so over the long term they make a killing off every investor
