Instead of the sad story from the manga, they choose the American super hero genre, making him fight a monster every week, his attacks where translate to English to sound awesome. The first Devilman anime is an American superhero inspiration.

Davi Long If you like Devilman but the netflix version is a lil too rough, read some of the original manga. It's still rough, but less, and I find there are more wacky antics sprinkled in which help lessen some of the super crazy stuff. It's actually releasing in book form later this year!

Did you watch the anime? Devilman Crybaby is Netflix’s horniest, most shockingly violent show yet.
The songs lyrics are from the original Devilman from 1972, where Devilman was more of a superhero type of character. That's why the lyrics don't talk about how in the new anime he literally rips people to shreds

@@aidangough9293 The manga is violent from the start to finish, just like all mangas from the 70s. The stuff we see in today's manga can't compare to the thing in the past. A lot of the old stuff incorporate stuff that are very controversial and inappropriate.

Considering that the Crybaby version is an update of the original theme, from like the 80's, I think it makes sense that the lyrics are cheesy.
