I was 14 years old in 1989 and still remember watching this song on Headbanger's Ball late at night...Now, 35 years later, it was pretty emotional watching this again and the song still rocks and has held up the test of time.
I saw this band open for Guns N Roses at Perkins Palace in Pasadena in 1987. I was 17 and in town visiting relatives for Christmas and my cousins took me. Best show ever. Never forgot it or this band.
I loved these guys , Theres nothin more powerfull than simple heavy rock , played loud with an attitude , no digital modern bullshit , like a garage band from anywhere across the USA ....True Rock & Roll
Junkyard were amazing. They had a former member of Minor Threat in the band (Brian Baker) and pro skater Tony Alva was in the band. They were basically punk rock skateboarders making a blues album.
I’m 54. I’m a metal man. I listen to music from the sixties to current day tho few bands these days are putting out my kinda music. Junkyard is way up there for me. I do t think they’d ever came this far north. Can’t say I blame them.
I remember that time when me and my friends got to party with the guitar player, the guy in the Hat and sunglasses, at a little club in Detroit when these guys were hitting it big. Good times man! They had the Black Crowes open for them. Some of the guys in Junkyard we're out there watching the Crowes, and we were partying and drinking with them I mean these guys did party, but the Black Crowes were a hell of a show
I remember this song and talking to you guys after the gig. I was pretty drunk but I was in LA in 2019 and the club is gone now. It was by the school they shot "Fast times at Ridgemont high".
Hilarious. I literally just bought that book 2 hours ago and right in the intro it talks about Junkyard, and here I am. I knew this song and Simple Man from back in the day, though.
I loved these guys back in the day, but didn't hear too of their music after the 1989. Come to find out my son loves some of the bands they are associated with...Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. I'm glad I found your post!!!
I'd give anything to go back to these days in the 80s. I used to crank this up and drive the neighbors crazy. Yeah, pack of Camels, Six pack of Bud and songs like this.....no internet no cell phones...those were the days !
@barryjohnson3682 you are absolutely not bullshitting one bit. Three Chords, and SNOT,with a Dash of No fucks given,on the Side,of Course. Thank GOD we didn't have the Internet and lived REAL LIFE,both good n bad.Besides,do you know how many of us pre Internet Kids would of got death penalties or at least prison sentences for some of the shit we gotta way with NOT having computers know our very existence, and doings??? Ewwww Weeeee BUNCHES! MYSELF INCLUDED.
@barryjohnson3682 here's one for you.....RECORD STORES!!!! The Hangout of all Hangouts until my band started the Pizza stores Touring for two large pizzas, and 60 bux for five dudes to split!Lol. Good times. Lol
I saw this band at the Cat Club in NYC in 1991, I came from Italy with 3 friends, we were a Metal band looking for our Big Break, the first night we went out to clubs we happened to see Junkyard, I knew who they were, I knew of Brian Baker's Hardcore Punk past in Minor Threat. The first thing that struck me was that the club was full of girls, I would say about 80% of the audience, all dressed as Rock bitches, I thought I was dead and in heaven, coming from Italy at the time it was the opposite ,the Rock and Metal scene was a very male club , good old USA ,good memories.
One of the best bands around. Tremendous live band too. We rank their top songs on our channel. Maybe the most underrated hard rock band out there right now.
This song was filmed at , was it the beautiful Garden Courts Hotel on Hollywood Blvd? Across from the Roosevelt? Theres the Screen Actors Guild there now. . .Im just curious if this was the last filming done before it was torn down. Right by Highland and Hollywood/catty corner to Orange Ave. Slimy location. Murdered runaways were found in its basement a couple times, dead OD's teen runaways a few more. Crazy era in Hollywood. Not at all cleaned up like now in 2021. . . hahahaha
I clearly remember this song being significant from the Headbanger's Ball standpoint, though it never did hold exactly mainstream, you see! But, I really liked them!
You're all going to get a kick out of this. But I saw these guys in a club with about 500 people tops, near Detroit, and they were actually the headline act. The opening act was the Black Crowes believe it or not
Hey! The bass player got a whole 2 seconds of camera time. That's not what Junkyard is about. Edit that shit. ..And still coming back. Let's face it, by '89, '90 the 3rd wave hair metal scene was just so saturated by by the Wingers, firehouse, and a hundred no hit wonders they didn't really stand a chance. If this had come out even 3 years earlier with the full Geffen push, they would have been huge. But hey, I'm glad they released what they did and a few were able to appreciate a rocking good time when presented.
One of the coolest rock songs of the 80s in my opinion that some bitch is a rocker and don’t forget Axl Rose used to wear these dudes shirt out on stage
Axl Rose had mad respect for these dudes axl wore their shirt JUNKYARD on stage back during the appetite for destruction tour daze. I always thought Axl would have helped these guys out with a push on tour with GNR he never did.
Um, no... many of the hairbands lead singers were trying to BE Vince Neal and try to imitate his style of singing. He raised the bar to unreachable levels.. But these guys along with the lead singer, are badass in their own right..
What's funny AF regarding your comment is I only heard this song once in my life on MTV. But loved it and the song stuck in my head for decades and I kept looking for it. I always thought it was Vince Neal on a solo album. Blew me away when I finally found it on RUclips somehow. Many years after giving up the search. I'm like THAT'S not Vince. Wtf was i thinking?! Lol All that to say, yeah you got my vote.
@@stormrising2623 weird thing man..i heard this once on the radio too..this video is the second time ive heard it..but i always knew it was a band called junkyard..never looked then up.
0ne of the best damn overlooked bands in the 80s era. Their debut rocked!!
No doubt! And they still sound amazing today
Not overlooked
Definitely not overlooked.
Agree 🤘
And Dangerous Toys
Still sounds great to this day! Junkyard was one of the most underrated bands from that time. Real rock & blues with a whole lot of attitude!
Agreed. They probably took too much coke at a party, or some other faux pàs that made some record ìndustfy idiot not want to sign them.
I was 14 years old in 1989 and still remember watching this song on Headbanger's Ball late at night...Now, 35 years later, it was pretty emotional watching this again and the song still rocks and has held up the test of time.
I was 17 in 1989. I remember this song and how they rocked
Man those two first records were AMAZING. Real no frills R&R. I'll keep returning there for the rest of my life!
I saw this band open for Guns N Roses at Perkins Palace in Pasadena in 1987.
I was 17 and in town visiting relatives for Christmas and my cousins took me. Best show ever. Never forgot it or this band.
I was at that show. Junkyard was an unexpected treasure to discover
Here because of my dad.. rest in peace man! I'll always remember what you taught me, and what real rock n roll is all about! 2024 to oblivion
Every song you hear that he played know he's with you at that time.. every time those sings play.
Anyone here in 2020? Music like this needs to come back, in a big way!! Let the good times roll.......baby!!
I HEAR YA!!!!
@@beachbum6460 You have class!!! Hats off!! :)
Hell Yeah..Cheers 🍻
I love u
Unfortunately the only thing from this video that has made a comeback is the ripped jeans.
I got this song on a single cassette or something back then. Then the video came out and I thought they were gonna be huge. I love this song!
I loved these guys , Theres nothin more powerfull than simple heavy rock , played loud with an attitude , no digital modern bullshit , like a garage band from anywhere across the USA ....True Rock & Roll
It's 2023 and I'm living in the 80s when things rocked!
Junkyard were amazing. They had a former member of Minor Threat in the band (Brian Baker) and pro skater Tony Alva was in the band. They were basically punk rock skateboarders making a blues album.
Clay jefferson (Anthony) was my roommate back in the day. So, I get it. Great stuff.
Great Song! These guys are so good. "Live like I want to, not like I should" such a badass line

Junkyard: thanks for posting. Found out about this song through the new book "Nothin But A Good Time". Thanks for your insights and this song. Cheers!
Hilarious. I literally just bought that book 2 hours ago and right in the intro it talks about Junkyard, and here I am. I knew this song and Simple Man from back in the day, though.
Love the guitars in this song.
And to think both of them were/are Hardcore/Punk icons.
One of the most under rated bands ever. Junkyard was a badass band!!
It's amazing to see Roach like this, from 89/90. Now he looks normal.
Junkyard #1.. Love Cyndi
I loved these guys back in the day, but didn't hear too of their music after the 1989. Come to find out my son loves some of the bands they are associated with...Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. I'm glad I found your post!!!

Haha right
One of these dudes was in the punk band minor threat??, I dig some minor threat and I remember these guys but I didnt know that
@@kristoferbatdorf2873 Yes Brian Baker. Also Chris gates from Big Boys.

LA sleaxe with texas swagger, only hot to see them once in the uk
this guys singing style kind of reminds me of the lead singer for the band Angel way back in the late 70s
Roach is awesome, his voice still sounds amazing today
It's not how you start its how you show back up again
Favorite line of all time if my love shifty that's my neighborhood
♥️💃🏻🎶🔥🤘🏼
And to think just five years after this video, one of the guys in this band would become a member of Bad Religion...
Still so fucking good !
Axl Rose had mad respect for these dudes axl wore their shirt JUNKYARD on stage back during the appetite for destruction tour daze. I always thought Axl would have helped these guys out with a push on tour with GNR he never did.
Cause he is a douchebag. Talented back then yes . But absolutely an asshole .
They were both Geffen bands. That's why.
