My sister said this a few years ago about how you really KNOW that you're SAVED. She asked: Q) What's the difference between a live baby and a dead baby? A) A live baby is HUNGRY! If you are TRULY BORN AGAIN, you are HUNGRY for the things of God! You have new LIFE! You have Jesus living within you! You have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you! You belong to God! YOU ARE SPIRITUALLY ALIVE!!
Mr. Hinn, I saw your name and am sorry to say I quickly moved on, but your videos kept popping up. After some research and listening to you, I believe you are a true man of God. To walk away from everything you walked away from took courage and conviction, and I thank you for sharing the Truth. I pray God continues to bless and use you.
This was EXCELLENT. We found ourselves often times, abused by others in NAR churches, who seem to always have a “word from the Lord“ for us. We never bought this foolishness and yet were branded the “agents of Satan” when we challenged these alleged “words” and experiences. You provided life-giving clarity on this!!
I believe God spoke audible to me 3 times, once when I was a youth and 2 more times during my conversion. I fell on my knees and asked for forgiveness and He said "You're clean" and I said "I don't believe you", because I was so filthy, then I heard it a second time "You're clean" and I rose up, forgiven and the happiest man in the world. I had a smile for months because I couldn't believe that God could forgive me, a wicked man.
@@paulwells4372you know when God speaks lol. If you haven’t ever received a word form the Lord I would recommend going all out. Fast, pray, never ceasing until God speaks and you know without a doubt. Once you get a taste of Gods word and presence that’s all you will ever want. I feel sad that there is this whole side of Christianity that has never experienced the Lord strongly ask they think those wacky charismatics or whatever must be making things up. So sad..the unbelief within certain circles/denominations ect is wild…
If anyone reads the Old Testament, when anyone heard the voice of God, even seeing an angel, ALL fell down in fear. Remember the Israelites hearing God speaking and they were so afraid that they asked Moses to speak only for God. Why do we need to actually hear God’s voice to tell us His will? Those that claim that God spoke to them through a dream, I believe you thought you did, wanting to hear, but it wasn’t truly God.
The Lord speaks through the scriptures of course, but I do strongly believe that God does speak through people, dreams, and many other ways. The main thing God uses is his word but we cannot deny that he doesn't speak through other things either.
@ItsAndy_ definitely! and we should not allow people like Costi Hinn, as well intentioned as he is to dampen, or even extinguish the desire to not only know about God, but know him, more and more each day.
12:35 this “Bible thumb game” hit me hard 😂.. I did this when I was 17 years old. That’s the time when I really wanted to know how to study the Bible. I started like that. Sometimes it made sense, most of the time, I still couldn’t understand the message. Then God sent friends after 4 years. They were Christians who introduced me to the faith. I praise God for making a way for me!
I still think God directly gives us impressions, "speaks" though not audibly to our hearts, directly guides our steps in addition to speaking to us in scripture. These impressions though should always be checked with scripture to be certain they align with the written word.
In my most intimate times ive heard God say sweet things that I just wouldnt and couldnt say to myself. It always was a scriptural truth. My favorite was when I heard Him audibly say His name. I Am, I was floored. My legs gave way. To this day ive never experienced anything of that magnitude. But God definitely spoke. Love you guys!
This was SO very helpful. Will help me and a sister in Christ use terms we can both understand while we grow, without stepping on one another's toes, and to give glory to God! Thank you, Costi!
I believe that GOD SPEAKS through scripture....but I've also been given dreams...my cousin, who lives thousands of miles away..who I rarely speak with...I dreampt that he was with another woman. I called him the next day and he was floored that I knew his sin from the night before and he repented on the phone. I know dreams aren't authoritative but I'll never say what GOD cant do!
Yes, I've done that sort of thing too. I once congratulated a man I worked with on the pregnancy of his wife. He freak out because they had not told anyone yet. Not even their own family. To me this is The Holy Spirit, because the Bible says The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of all truth. It brings all things into the light.
He can but because He is omniscient but just like healing God heals only if He wills and for His glory alone. Most important thing is that we don't don't go beyond what the scripture is given to us.
Amen @MintLeeMajors For me GOD and I believe almost everyone GOD speaks to them through Scripture, and also for me , worship music and sermons and I’ve had dreams as well, but yes we know GOD don’t speak to us audibly, I love the way Justin Peters puts it “if you wanna hear God speak, then read your Bible, if you want to hear God speak audibly, then read your Bible aloud” LoL 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼✝️✝️
I fully agree that the language has become confusing. People say, "God spoke to me" so freely when they mean other things. And it hurt me so much that I wasn't hearing from God directly.
Perhaps they mean God spoke to me THROUGH this. And are just asserting their faith that it is from Him. Sorry to hear that you were hurt ❤ I understand.
I was trying to hear God when I was a teenager. I was still a Catholic charismatic at that time, and I really wanted to learn how to study the Bible. But no one can teach me. I tried to write God’s messages to me in my journal. Some of those were from familiar verses, majority were unbiblical, of course. Then I told that to my friend who was courting me at that time. He was a Baptist. The next thing I knew, he left and never had another conversation with me. After 5 years, I got saved and became a born again Christian. I wish my friend told me I was listening to God the wrong way. I’m glad he left me because I never knew I was doing a bad habit of “listening” to God.
I am sad to hear this and truly hope that wasn't the only reason that he left you, and if it is, I am sorry for that. Maybe he knew/thought it was wrong, but didn't know how to articulate it? Of course regardless though, if he was born again himself he should've tried to show you and learn with you Biblical truths. I'm glad to hear that your walk with God is now seemingly in the right path. ❤
I believe we always need to be in line with the word of God but do you if you think we can always get SPECIFIC GUIDANCE from the written text of scripture you are wrong unless you play "scripture roulette" or if you think it is no longer necessary Jesus told the Pharisees: You pore over the Scriptures because you presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that testify about Me (John 5:39) The Reformers poured over the scriptures and rediscovered some precious truths. Then their revelation was corrupted by the Gnostic infected doctrines of Augustine and they began to murder the Jews and even fellow Christians
How did you possibly get that from the video? The Holy Spirit dwells in all true believers and will help guide you. He should be convicting people of faking Apostolic gifts and making them feel that it's wrong.@@JimiSurvivor
You do realize that the scriptures that Jesus is referencing on John 5:39 were the OT, and not the NT, dont you? The OT is the foundation upon which the NT is built, but it was incomplete as it was only the foundation. Read Galations, Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Hebrews, etc...the Law did not have the power to save, but was a mirror to show the sinfulness of man to himself. The Pharisees believed that the Law DID have the power to save, apart from Christ. @@JimiSurvivor
To the cessationists out there: I’ve been walking with the Lord over 30 years. I’ve been reformed for 25. Prior to six months ago, I would’ve agreed Holy with what Hinn is saying. However, I had a life-changing experience six months ago where God did something to me spiritually. The experience has grown my faith, enhanced my personal devotions, and multiplied my prayer life; all of these are not anything compared to where I was. It’s a long story and testimony, and won’t go into it here, but, how is a cessationist supposed to handle the situation of supernatural power that happens to him? I don’t really know what to call it, second filling, second blessing, again baptized in the Holy Spirit. I don’t know. I do know that the Westminster confession of faith talks about the Holy Spirit withdrawing from believers for particular seasons, for particular reasons. It’s in two places in the WCF. The point of this response is that, I cannot deny the obvious . I know that’s a bit off point and the point of this video is to address whether the Holy Spirit speaks today to people. I don’t see anywhere in the Bible, where we see an abrogation of God speaking . Don’t even try to use Hebrews one on me because I’m taken it apart at the seams and that has no relationship. There are many things at the Reformed hang their hat on in regards to abrogation. In this case, they don’t even address abrogation of God speaking to his people. The last thing I would say is that the Bible was never put together as a canon for hundreds of years . If Hebrews one is so true, what did the church use for those first hundred years before the Bible was canonized, to speak to them? When you’re out and about and you find yourself in a situation that requires prayer, can you ask God for an answer, mind you this answer is needed right then; do you take your Bible out and sit on the side of the road and wait? You may respond to me and say, ‘ I have hidden in my heart, your word, Lord’. That those scriptures that you’ve hidden in your heart will provide you an answer. I wouldn’t disagree with this, but I believe it takes the supernatural out of our faith and creates an anemic Faith, whereas we don’t even allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in a still small voice. There’s so much I could say on the subject, but I’m going to end here .
That's the problem I'm currently having, I didn't even know the experience I had was possible 2 years ago, and it lead me down great confusion, which I'm still grappling with. So I understand you.
I had an experience where I was at church in worship and the H.S. spoke to me to go and witness to a retired gentleman that I had met while delivering mail. This wasn’t an audible voice but it was very clear and obvious what He said. I obeyed, and when this guy saw me walk up he said he had been thinking about me lately. We went to go sit down in his garage and visit and as soon as he sat down he said to me “Wes, I just don’t think it’s by chance that you showed up today” and I heard in my spirit again “tell him about me”. I shared the gospel with him and was able to pray with him as he accepted what Christ did on the cross for him and all of us. Don’t tell me that the H.S. doesn’t speak today. He does, He’s a person, He loves us, don’t put Him in a box.
@@Westo19 God Bless You! Remember... According to Your Faith... So Be It !! Jesus went to Heaven, So we could have the Holy Spirit... To LEAD us, To TEACH us, To COMFORT us, To Bring Things to Remembrance What God has Spoken to us... And So God Speaks to us... If Our Heart is in RIGHT RELATIONSHIP With HIM... And We Are BELIEVING IN FAITH !!!
I had an experience that has changed my life completely too! I had no idea other people were experiencing the same. I don’t care what anyone says, I know what God did in me and no one will take that away.
I believe God speaks through the scriptures, Holy Spirit will not use flip-top or rap sounding words cannot be understood by hearers. We understand English and our native tongue nothing else. Thanks for your content brother Costi!
I'm coming from watching about half of it so I don't know if you employ more nuance later. But I don't think discounting God's voice completely outside of scripture is the right move. We know, for example, that Paul was forbidden by the holy spirit to preach in Asia. Jesus was clearly led by the holy spirit into the wilderness to fast. Peter in a vision was shown by God that he could go to the house of the roman centurion. Paul was caught up to the 3rd heaven and used this vision in part to prove his apostolic authority. It's possible to be reactionary and go the complete opposite way. God does speak to people in an inner voice but this needs to be measured with the word. God does reach unbelievers, the mother of the evangelist Brother Yun, was saved by suicide when heard the voice of God. Others hear internally such as a man in prison who was told to plant a church. There are many examples of abuse of the spirit yes, but to discount God's voice outside of the word is to quench the spirit. These things should be tested with the word, we're called to test every spirit, to test prophecy, but not to despise it.
Thank you soo much for this sound teaching on this, it is much needed. I hear so much of this and definitely have to be careful with our words. Thank you Costi for biblical truth.
Not only must we walk in the wisdom and obedience of Gods written word, but we must also allow for his very real and supernatural presence, God speaks today, God is still in the business of the supernatural today. I've learned that its not a position, title, or studies, a social media/ you tube platform with many 'followers' that makes an authority on the supernatural of God today; rather its the humble man/woman who is prepared to seek him with all their heart and put full unwavering trust in him- the Father, the Living God of all creation. The sad thing today is platforms like this, where the speaker is limited( my opinion) in his own experience of God, limits others who place themselves under his influence for directly or indirectly.
I've watched several of Costi's videos anow (and I'm done) it seems to me that he is just processing through the excesses of his uncle. His uncle does not represent all charismatic leaders or charismatics in general who love God with all their hearts and live to serve Jesus.
I love this man of God and his passion for Christ. I watched Costi in his early days and was so encouraged that he came out of the prosperity gospel movement. I have to say I agree with some of what your saying here Costi. I know it is coming from a very sincere place of wanting to be walking in truth and being biblically based 100%. I understand that there is so much false teaching and error out there.I also understand your concern for TRUTH and not wanting to walk in error or lead anyone astray. But I would like to know how you would explain the many muslims in the Middle East who are coming to Christ in droves and are having visions of Christ and are seeing Jesus in dreams and hearing the Lord tell them direct words about himself from the scripture. The Lord says you will know them by their fruit most of these Christian’s who have come out of Islam live in danger daily facing death, imprisonment, torture and separation from their loved ones. These Christian’s would put us Christians here in the West to shame. They are totally sold out to Jesus 500%. So if their visions are false and they really didn’t hear from Jesus why would they risk death and pain and sorrow like they do and have? What about the Jewish people that are also coming to know their Messiah and are experiencing the same thing? The Bible says we are to test the spirit up against the Lords word. I could go on about the countless people in persecuted countries that don’t have the written word of God but they have the word of God ( Jesus) living inside them and the Holy Spirit is their teacher. I understand dear brother why you think like you do but I truely hope you can come to see that you can not box God or throw the baby out with the bath water. May God keep you walking in Spirit and in truth and keep you ever so close by his side dear brother.
Excellent teaching Pastor Costi ! This is what we need ! The great thing about Holy Scripture and the Holy Spirit is this. For a time, we can have an incorrect understanding of a certain passage. Then by the providence of God, we hear someone explaining that passage. All of sudden a light goes on in our head and we exclaim to ourselves : "that's what it means! Now I understand ". This is one powerful way that God talks to us. This happened to me concerning 1 Corinthians 2:4 "my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power" which I previously thought was talking about miracles - basically saying we need to persuade people with miracles. Then I heard one of James White's "Dividing Lines" where he was teaching on 1 Corinthians 1. And I realised that the apostle Paul had earlier defined "power" as meaning "the preaching of the cross". It suddenly all made sense
Miracles simply don’t change hearts on their own. Which seems strange, but think of the Pharisees literally looking a blind man in the face and arguing with him. Also the ten lepers and only one giving thanks and being made whole.
This is beautiful absolutely beautiful thank you for your humbleness and truth in scripture everything you said I've been exactly through point to point. I was that way until I started to read the living word of God. Bless you and your ministry brother you are a great testimony.
God says his sheep will know his voice if you can't hear it then are you his sheep? God called me out at 40 years old he said it is time! After that he walked me through a process and healed me from alcohol cussing p*** sexual deviants nasty nasty things so I still believe hear God's voice!!!
Good basic teaching on our need to be fed by the writen word of God. Now if we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and allow the spiritual gifts to be used in our life, we will see 100 fold fruit in our life in Christ. Paul pleaded with the church to be led by the Spirit, and operate in the spiritual gifts. This is so clearly and plainly written in the Bible. The Holy Spirit is always in agreement with scripture and the principles of God. But words of knowledge, prophetic words, praying for people and seeing miracles only comes by hearing and understanding the spoken word of the Spirit. Unfortunately this teaching is only half of the way we should be living and led by God.
It is refreshing to hear a Scripture-centered teaching approach that does not fall into the trap of denying the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives or in our conversions. The Fundamentalism I grew up in did just that, and it was very, very, very dry stuff. A living God who sees us, who not only forgives us but also comes and indwells us is so much more than the Fundamentalist's rather distant God who handed out a book a couple of thousand years ago and said 'read it'. The Word of God is rich, and contain the words of Life, and it clearly speaks of a God who joins you in life, that you submit to, and Who does not abandon you, and Who brings power and transformation into your very soul, and who indwells us as a church as well to build a community of faith. Yeah, I'll take that.
So, long story short. I've had a friend call me with messages from the Lord that were always spot on. Every time it was only myself that knew about those things, and every time it got me back in line and always lined up with scripture. Every time it brought me to repentance again and/or brought great encouragement. The way the Lord spoke those messages(for me) to my friend, was through dreams and "hearing His voice." ...but you wouldn't agree with that now would you?.... I'm sorry but i know what i've been through and I don't know how you can sit there and preach such a message.. it is misleading and I'm glad it is... I love Jesus and I would love to hear His voice"His sheep know His voice...." God Bless
Good stuff Costi. Any believer will benefit by putting the advice you offer in this video into practice. The Scriptures are absolutely our standard and obeying thier clear teaching, not guessing as to what "God's voice," is telling us should be our central focus. Thing is: 1 Corintians 12:1-11 teaches that the gift of prophesy is very much alive in the Church today. And no, chapter 13 in no way teaches that all the gifts have ceased - not until the end of the age when we see Christ. We need to accept the whole counsel of scripture on the issue of prophecy and other gifts in the church, as challenging as it might be.
We would have to humbly weigh today's version of "prophecy" against the whole counsel of scripture. 1. We see from the word that one false erroneous prophecy, is enough to write off a prophet. 2. Prophecy is literally speaking for God, therefore "thus says the Lord" is a weighty phrase. 3. Today's version of prophecy does not live up to the standard of the biblical gift. 4. A generic "word from God", to pet the arrogance and ego of people is destructive. 5. If the prophecy is according to scripture... we are to observe it as the word of God, and should indeed write it down.... oh wait the cannon is closed. That is highly dangerous, if there were new revelation.
@@david8252 I agree it's a very high standard, but the Bible istelf alludes to other prophets whose prophecies we do not have written down! More importantly, you avoided the issue I raised brother. They were doing "prophecy" in Corinth, so there is precident for prophets in the New Coventant.
@@jonathanfischer5292 Must look at the context brother. They did not have the full canon and counsel of scripture, so anything they prophecied had to be weighed against the Torah, the prophets, and the letters that they had that were circulating the churches. We have the whole counsel of God today, and the bible itself claims that it is sufficient for righteousness, and godly living. The prophecies we do have written down, we know are inerrant and full authority. You also did not answer the flaws i brought up of modern "prophecy".
Yes true, YAHWEH will speak through us through His Word The Bible. Also I believe God can speak through dreams and vision mentioned in Acts 2:17 but these dreams must always align to The Word of God and never contradict Bible Scriptures. So in a nutshell God speaks through His Word the Canon The Bible..
As a Fellow brother and Romanian pentecostal I do agree with alot of what you say people want to hear from God but don't read the Bible they want to bypass it and just hear something that will encourage them or seek someone with the gift of prophecy. Can't wait for AG 3
This truly is such blessing truth!! This doctrine comes down to whether or not we believe, as Christians, if the word of God is sufficient in itself! Versus, for example, Catholics who believe in the need for an infallible interpreter. And if we don’t have one, then we NEED sources that are separate from Scripture. But the Holy Spirit HIMSELF, tells us in His own inspired word, that He has said what He needs to say in order to save a human soul. Him telling us that the entire Bible is sufficient to equip us for EVERY SINGLE good work! Thats a bold statement! From God Himself, through Paul. The great commission is for every single Christian. Jesus Himself called every single Christian to go to the nations and SPEAK (with our mouths may I add) the gospel and the things that He has taught. He doesn’t tell us that some of us are called to share it and He will cover the rest in dreams. This is very important to appeal. He also did not ever tell us in the same breath of our job to share the gospel, that He will sometimes visit people. This is hard to navigate don’t get me wrong. But why on earth or in heaven would he COMMAND us to go to the nations to share the gospel if he could just go visit everyone himself. If that was his will, the elect would be saved and He would come back. There would be no need for Him to tarry in coming back for His bride if he is the one responsible for VISITING people. Instead of us. You who believe God speaks and we must just “test it up against the scriptures”, I ask you, is the word of God just a spell check to you? I reiterate my initial point, is the word of God completely sufficient in itself? Or is the Bible just a spell check manual for the things He speaks audibly to you? And if He speaks audibly, where are we taught HOW to discern between His voice, our voice, Satan’s voice, and other’s voice? And where are we warned against disobeying these scriptures??
Thanks for validating so much for me. However, I believe the Holy Spirit can speak to us when we least expect it. True, we don't sit and wait. My father , may he RIP, was awakened in the night several times by Gods voice telling him to read a specific scripture. He even argued saying, he's so tired and will do it later. But God didn't leave him be so he jumped up and read it. The same thing has happened to me. God does speak. He walks with us and talks with us. I wouldn't dream of limiting Gods voice. It's how we form our relationship with him. Why else would Jesus say, in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; Like I said, it can happen. Too many people have literally heard a literal voice out of nowhere tell them where to turn, to duck and roll, or whatnot just before disaster strikes. Plus, God gave us the ability to sense danger, when there's no obvious sign of it. To me that's the Holy Spirit. When we ask God with faith, we will be giving wisdom by the Holy Spirit. We don't know how it will come. But it comes when we ask and when we need it. James 1:5-7.. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. God wouldn't be telling us to ask HIM unless we are expected to be be answered nor be told as his sheep, we will hear his voice. I know he won't tell us anything that isn't already validated by scripture. Its always best to Look it up. However listen to God because scripture cannot tell us to not take that plane because its going to crash. God expects us to listen to his warnings. How? His voice.
I thought you were a sessationist at first and denying the gifts of the Spirit for today but as you went on the teaching made sense, practical. I did always wonder about people feeling that they heard something from God
I believe God does speak to us, including through signs. But external signs must always we examined with scripture. That way no one is quenching the spirit but you are also not letting yourself be possibly decieved. I see this as a balanced approach because there are just too many cases in my own life and the lives of those around me that I know the Lord has spoken to people. Entire ministries have been started by a vision or internal voice that was unmistakeable. So while we should search in the word first, and use it to validate any encounters. I won't take the approach of God only speaking in the word, cause it's just not the case.
@MatthewMurraycogswoth I tentatively agree with you …. ? But in the very, very few times I have heard God speak to me clearly and verbally (though not audibly) 1) it was not through any effort on my part - I wasn’t trying to make it happen, and 2) it was unmistakeable - I was not left wondering if that was God speaking. Would you agree that when God speaks, it is not on demand and it is not ambiguous? Costi Hinn, maybe you’re right and I was just being led by the Holy Spirit. But - unlike your description where a Spirit-filled Christian would expect to have the mind of Christ - on some of the occasions I have heard God verbally, I was actively thinking something different, when the Holy Spirit suddenly interrupted me forcefully with a clear (and contrary) message. ie, one time I ran into somebody I didn’t want to get trapped in a conversation with right then, and I was actively brainstorming what excuse I might come up with to get away without actually lying. The Holy Spirit suddenly interrupted my concentrated scheming as forcefully as if He had actually poked me in the ribs, and conveyed the exact words “remember a few days ago when you prayed for opportunities to have spiritual conversations with somebody new?” What do you make of that?
@@tatiakey2735 I have felt the same. Unmistakably many times the spirit has interrupted the desires of my flesh when I wanted to say or do something wrong. I remember one time at a church event actually there was a girl with like a crop top who was very attractive, and I was fighting against my flesh at that point, recovering from porn addiction. The spirit spoke so clearly in my mind "turn away my son" that it actually shocked me, and so I turned away. I think of Ananais and Saphira, accused by Peter of lying to the holy spirit. They felt conviction for their deeds, likely strong conviction considering the Lord's punishment, and went against it. Or look at Romans 8:16, the spirit himself testifies to us that we are God's children. The holy spirit definitely does speak to us, it's very easy to become reactionary and quench the holy spirit
Question about Acts 8:29. “Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”” Acts 8:29 NKJV. Is this direct communication from the Holy Spirit reserved for the first generation Apostles?
God told the prophet Jeremiah: Ezek.. I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jeremiah 31:33). 2 Corinthians 3:3 KJV forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. Ezekiel 11:19 19 And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh zand give them a heart of flesh, Ezekiel 36 26? 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. ***its all living evidence
I need clarity please: the Holy Spirit spoke to the Apostles when they wrote scriptures. The Holy Spirit spoke to Paul and several others in Acts 13. 1 Cor 14 talks about prophecy, which is inspired utterance. Have those things changed? Are you saying the Holy Spirit no longer speaks to us that way? What I’ve been taught and experienced is the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, which means He leads us through our conscience but He also speaks to our spirits. In rare occasions, we might hear an audible voice when God decides to speak that way, but it’s not something we can ask for (that is what opens us to demonic voices). I guess we can also argue that if demons speak to people, why won’t the Holy Spirit speak to us? How do you explain the gifts of the Spirit: tongues and interpretation, prophecy, word of knowledge and word of wisdom?
You asked about the inspired scriptures the Apostles wrote: no, God doesn't speak to us so that He inspires us to write scripture. But He speaks to us through His already written scripture. God is so succinct and direct, the only reason the Bible is as long as it is, is because we need repetition to learn. That doesn't mean we cut out anything. It just means God has given us everything we need to live a godly life in His already-written scripture. For your questions about tongues and interpretation, prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, check out the videos Costi Hinn has done on this subject. Better yet, get his new book, which I'm sure covers all of this.
My book is coming tomorrow! Thank you for what has been the most practical, helpful and balanced explanation I’ve ever heard on how God leads us. Can’t wait to read it too!
God still speak today. I am a charismatic i love god’s word, i read it Every day and i try by the grâce of God to live by thé standards of the Bible. Every expérience i have with the voice of the Holy Spirit inside me i look for confirmation in the Bible and i pray. A number of thing could have gone bad in my personnal’life if i didn’t listen to the voice of God inside me. There are abuses but the Bible say that God is the same yesterday today and forever. The true is the Bible not the word of m’en even of we respect them. We only need discernement and we can have it only to a diligent study and méditation of the Bible with the help of the Holy spirit
of course its mystical. Yes God does whisper to your inner man. And yes there is a still small voice. Holy Spirit does speak in specific words. He has spoken to me many times and corrected me. So yes I enjoy the fellowship of Holy Spirit.
Love the content! Your voice is very satisfying to listen to but my only feedback would be to cut the low end in your mic. My subs are hitting harder than a dr Dre song. Much love ✌🏼
Yes, the Holy Spirit speaks today! How can we say we are in a personal relationship with Jesus otherwise? Not everyone is called to preach the gospel ! It’s self limiting to say we Only hear from the bible. Why would Jesus die for our sins and to send us a helper, the Holy Spirit, and say he wants a personal relationship with us when He really doesn’t. We are all different that is the beauty of a personal relationship with the Lord. I have heard from the Lord many times and I’m not going to deny the Holy Spirit working in my life.
Olga do you believe the Lord wants to speak to you? He does! He is amazing! You will know it is Him when he speaks! It won’t be guess work! Not everything that God says is in scripture but it will be in line with scripture. Believe in the blood of Jesus it is the foundation of Christianity: Through it God provided our freedom, redemption, healing!
@@yvonnecopithorne8451wrong! Read your Bible, we hear by the word of God, the word is in the Bible, not in your dreams, your feelings or Magic signs. Romans 10:17 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word [a]of Christ.
Olga, God speaks into the minds of His children, He gives words of knowledge, incites, ideas. Yes the Bible is our foundational tool as it were. God spoke to Elijah 1 Kings 18:20-40; 19:12. Sometimes Jesus or angels have appeared to certain people. Muslims lately are having many visions of Jesus and thus becoming Christians. When we repent and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour the Holy Spirit comes and resides in us. This is not some wishy washy satanic magic new age thing as you suggested. I don’t understand why you have not experienced it? What kind of church do you go to? Do they believe in laying on of hands, being filled with the Holy Spirit, water baptism, prophesy etc?
@@yvonnecopithorne8451 lying hands?! Of course not sister!!! I do believe in the Holy Spirit, He indwells us God’s children. We do have ideas, wisdom but not coming from a “voice” but from the word that we read, study and meditate on. The prophecies ceased in the apostolic era. I am member of a local Baptist church. I believe in reformed theology.
Hello, I am trying to locate the first episode of this podcast but I can’t seem to find it. Can anyone help me get the first episode? I want to make my own Playlist of this Podcast from Ep 1 up to the latest Thanks in advance!
This was a huge conformation for me thankyou! And I appreciate your message, I do have one question when and how we are baptized in the Holy Spirit what does that look like?
The only baptism of the Spirit is found in 1 Corinthians 12:13 -- "For also by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." This baptism occurs the moment the Spirit regenerates you, you believe the Gospel, you are justified by faith, you are baptized into the Body of Christ. This is a one-time occurrence. As you walk with Christ, however, you want to be filled _with_ the Spirit, which is not the same as being baptized _by_ the Spirit. To keep being kept filled by the Spirit, you must be yielded to the Spirit, walking in obedience to His written Word. You have all of the Spirit you'll ever get (which you received when you believed the Gospel), but the question is, does the Spirit have all of you? If He does, then you are filled with the Spirit.
As to actually hearing the voice of the HS, let me tell you a little story. I come from a Bible Presbyterian background. Not too favorable to a charismatic "belief". After marrying and moving to the Sacramento area years ago, my young wife and I went hunting for a church home and happened to visit a 4 Square Gospel gathering one Sunday. All sounded pretty orthodox until all of a sudden it was announced it was time to speak in tongues. Insanity broke out in a cacophony of scrambled voices saying nothing intelligible. Costi, I kid you not: Both my wife and I would swear that at that instant we both clearly heard a voice speak in English. It wasn't a "still, small voice", it was a loud, sharp command and it said "GET OUT NOW!" with the urgency of "Run for your lives". I don't attach much theological value to the experience doctrinally, but maybe sometimes the Spirit within us DOES speak in instances like this. Oh, we instantly ran for our lives and never looked back...
I can follow what you're saying. Honest question, though: What about acts 1:24-26? Should they not have sought guidance from God by asking Him to in the moment divinely speak by influencing the lot? Should they have done it by applying general biblical wisdom to such a direct urgent situation?
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: *if any man hear my voice,* and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22¶He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; *and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.* 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: *for they know his voice.* 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: *for they know not the voice of strangers.*
Roman's 8.16 for example says The Spirit speaks to our spirit that we are His.....so why would He speak like that and not in anything else. God still speaks to us thru His Word primarily, but there are also signs, wonders, and His speaking thru The Spirit directly to our spirit.....gifts are for today! We must be discerning but I've witnessed way too many coincidences in my Christian walk to agree with this testimony.
That is superstitious brethren, the Spirit speaks to our spirit that we are His, refers to the assurance the Holy Spirit gives to believers of their salvation. When we ask for wisdom, we seek for answers in the Bible, we may apply biblical history to current circumstances, we make decisions after praying and reading, asking God to lead us and making sure that we are not contradicting the word with our actions, signs, wonders, etc are pure deceive.
@OlgaSmirnova1 the God I worship still speaks to those who are His......learn to look and listen and you will soon see that this is true. Obedience will follow.
Here's a hypothetical, a Christian wants to hear the voice of God and they listen to you and go to the word. They see clearly here are moments of the spirit speaking to Christians. They then...ignore those verses because you say the only way the spirit speaks is with the word. You see why that's a problem? In acts 13:2, the Lord told the church in antioch to set aside Barnabus and Saul. In Acts 16:6-8, Paul and his companions were prevented by the spirit from preaching the word in Asia. . In Acts 20:22, Paul explains how he was drawn to Jerusalem irresistibly by the spirit, ((Also Paul would mention the spirit warned him there was danger waiting for him in the cities he would be going to). "Do not quench the Spirit, 20 do not utterly reject [a]prophecies, 21 but examine everything; hold firmly to that which is good, 22 abstain from every [b]form of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22
How do we be biblical Christians?? We don't go too much one way or the other. We hold ourselves to a high standard so that we're above reproach, but still remain compassionate and grace filled as help others get there. We are firmly rooted in the word of God, examining and testing everything that comes to us, but we don't simply reject everything because some have abused that trust. It's possible that in an attempt to guard against false teaching and abuse of scripture, we can lean too much into everything is false. ex: people lie with false visions? None are true. People abuse spiritual gifts? They no longer exist. I mean in my personal life I've seen God move through people, and the scripture attests to that. But regardless, let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater so to speak.
Easy. I am not Paul. I am not Jesus. I am not an apostle. I am not a Prophet. I am not to read myself into the text of historical descriptive passages. Just because the Apostles heard God speak (because they were laying the foundation of the church) does not mean that is what I should expect. Nowhere in scripture are we taught how to hear Gods voice. Its not something that is expected.
What would you say to Orthodox Christians who claim their Church’s traditions are a higher authority because at a point in time there was no canonized scripture? Basically what came first, the Church or the Bible.
For as much weight is put on the Holy Spirit speaking through the scriptures, it’s ironic that there isn’t any scripture that says that’s the way the spirit will speak to us..
God is always speaking to us. Please read Romans. If you feel God's peace and have denied yourself. You've entered into God's rest. John 14 is a good place to see where Jesus Christ says if you love him. Then obey his commandments and he will give you another Helper. To teach you forever.
God leads our ways when we trust him, but He does not speak to us as He did to the prophets of the Bible, He chose that way to communicate with them, the Bible is written for us to “ hear” God.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 10:27 NKJV
My sister said this a few years ago about how you really KNOW that you're SAVED. She asked: Q) What's the difference between a live baby and a dead baby? A) A live baby is HUNGRY! If you are TRULY BORN AGAIN, you are HUNGRY for the things of God! You have new LIFE! You have Jesus living within you! You have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you! You belong to God! YOU ARE SPIRITUALLY ALIVE!!
And that spiritual hunger longs for and seeks out God's Word like a baby craves milk!
I love this analogy.❤

I'm glad God pulled him out of his uncle's crazy prosperity gospel
@tomtemple69 yes! The Lord can, and does use the words of Satin for His glory.
Yes his videos keep popping up, amazing!
Thank you. I use to stress out trying to "hear" from God. Reading the Bible is so much easier!
Amen!!! The very reasons I won't read "Jesus Calling" or watch "The Chosen"!
Totally agree!!
You may believe it was God? But how do you know? Or is it a case of you want it to be God, when really it could be from anyone? ie demons?
@@paulwells4372 Would demons say that someone was clean.......
@paulwells4372 Can’t be demons. If Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
🤔
@ItsAndy_ definitely! and we should not allow people like Costi Hinn, as well intentioned as he is to dampen, or even extinguish the desire to not only know about God, but know him, more and more each day.

Such a blessing, thank you Pastor Costi. Warm greetings to you from South Africa.
I really appreciate you pastor hinn God is using you but only those with spiritual ears will hear.
I still think God directly gives us impressions, "speaks" though not audibly to our hearts, directly guides our steps in addition to speaking to us in scripture. These impressions though should always be checked with scripture to be certain they align with the written word.
Thank you guys for exposing and staying biblical!!!!!May our good Lord bless you in your ministries and may you go from strength to strength.

I sometimes gets scriptures into my remembrance when I’m praying , that’s definitely the Holy Spirit! I always check with the Word!🙏🏼
I will say what God won’t do-contradict himself. He won’t betray His word. He CAN’T!
Wow I pray that there was a full reconciliation with his wife and kids if they had kids. 🙏🏻
Listening. What an awesome teaching. I am praying my charismatic friends will be willing to hear the truths you are sharing. ❤️
I guess the conclusion of this is: quit asking for guidance. You will not get it. That ended with the completion of the NT
I believe we always need to be in line with the word of God but do you if you think we can always get SPECIFIC GUIDANCE from the written text of scripture you are wrong unless you play "scripture roulette" or if you think it is no longer necessary
Jesus told the Pharisees:
You pore over the Scriptures because you presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that testify about Me (John 5:39)
The Reformers poured over the scriptures and rediscovered some precious truths.

Wow. I’ve got a lot to thank about. Yes, thank. Prayer closet is my thank tank.

Solid! Thank you brother
I believe God speaks through the scriptures, Holy Spirit will not use flip-top or rap sounding words cannot be understood by hearers. We understand English and our native tongue nothing else. Thanks for your content brother Costi!
...pray for our pastors...
I couldn’t have said it better myself so I don’t add or subtract I say Amen to your statement because it is true
Amen
Thank you for this message.
How many times do we try to “ help” God out in making decisions in our lives and following his direction
Fantastic, Word 📖
Thank you soo much for this sound teaching on this, it is much needed. I hear so much of this and definitely have to be careful with our words. Thank you Costi for biblical truth.
I appreciate that Costi gives credit to Justin’s coined phrase, “if you want to hear the spirit speak out loud, read the Bible out loud”.
It is not completely true. There are times when we need more specific guidance.
Would you give me an example of God speaking directly to you?
Amen!
Miracles simply don’t change hearts on their own. Which seems strange, but think of the Pharisees literally looking a blind man in the face and arguing with him. Also the ten lepers and only one giving thanks and being made whole.
Thank you. Wonderful teaching.
This is beautiful absolutely beautiful thank you for your humbleness and truth in scripture everything you said I've been exactly through point to point. I was that way until I started to read the living word of God. Bless you and your ministry brother you are a great testimony.

AMEN Brother!! And thank you for this video.❤
Wilkerson had me listening for voices, etc. It's possible the very elect. I'm glad God protected me from this
It is refreshing to hear a Scripture-centered teaching approach that does not fall into the trap of denying the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives or in our conversions.
Amen!
@@jonathanfischer5292 Thank you Jonathan, For Declaring the Whole Truth.. Thank you for Being Faithful !!!
Great video, Costi! Thank you so much! ❤
Why else would Jesus say, in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;
Like I said, it can happen.
How? His voice.
I can't wait to receive mine!!!
Costi thank you so much. Awesomely explained. So helpful❤
SO GOOD, Bro!!
Great teaching! This is filled with biblical truths ❤
Thankyou from QLD Australia.😊
Thanks. It's so good and Blessed teaching. ❤
The spirit is God so God is speaking to us
I thought you were a sessationist at first and denying the gifts of the Spirit for today but as you went on the teaching made sense, practical.
The Holy Spirit suddenly interrupted my concentrated scheming as forcefully as if He had actually poked me in the ribs, and conveyed the exact words “remember a few days ago when you prayed for opportunities to have spiritual conversations with somebody new?”
What do you make of that?
I think that Christians should be careful of visions, because they could be demonic.......
Thank you Costi for teaching the true word of God. Really help me.
This was excellent! This teaching helped me tremendously! Thankful.😊
Awesome video!
Question about Acts 8:29. “Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”” Acts 8:29 NKJV.
Is this direct communication from the Holy Spirit reserved for the first generation Apostles?
Great stuff. !!!!❤
The tumb game was my go to
I understand what he means thank you.
God told the prophet Jeremiah:
Ezek..
I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jeremiah 31:33).
2 Corinthians 3:3 KJV
forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
Ezekiel 11:19
19 And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh zand give them a heart of flesh,
Ezekiel 36 26?
If the Holy Spirit did not speak, no one would be saved.
You heard from the Lord? What did he tell you?
Olga do you believe the Lord wants to speak to you? He does! He is amazing! You will know it is Him when he speaks! It won’t be guess work! Not everything that God says is in scripture but it will be in line with scripture. Believe in the blood of Jesus it is the foundation of Christianity: Through it God provided our freedom, redemption, healing!
@@yvonnecopithorne8451wrong! Read your Bible, we hear by the word of God, the word is in the Bible, not in your dreams, your feelings or Magic signs.
Romans 10:17
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word [a]of Christ.
This guy is a Calvinist. Run people.
Hello, I am trying to locate the first episode of this podcast but I can’t seem to find it. Can anyone help me get the first episode?
I want to make my own Playlist of this Podcast from Ep 1 up to the latest
Thanks in advance!
This was a huge conformation for me thankyou! And I appreciate your message, I do have one question when and how we are baptized in the Holy Spirit what does that look like?
The only baptism of the Spirit is found in 1 Corinthians 12:13 -- "For also by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit."
This baptism occurs the moment the Spirit regenerates you, you believe the Gospel, you are justified by faith, you are baptized into the Body of Christ.
24:06 Hi Sir, I like this quote from Paul Washer. May I know where he said this? I’d love to share it too.
It's from John Bunyun
Yahusha said, quote,, Come out of her my people lest U receive their plagues
I know some (of which I WAS one!) who read their Bible like it’s a ouija board, opening it at random and - oh! He’s speaking to me!!
I was at one time as well. Much prefer reading it cover to cover! In fact, I can't get enough of it.
I can follow what you're saying. Honest question, though: What about acts 1:24-26? Should they not have sought guidance from God by asking Him to in the moment divinely speak by influencing the lot? Should they have done it by applying general biblical wisdom to such a direct urgent situation?
This is an amazingly biblical teaching!
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: *if any man hear my voice,* and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
3 To him the porter openeth; *and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.*
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: *for they know his voice.*
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: *for they know not the voice of strangers.*
It is not even a question that God still speaks to people; to contend otherwise is utter nonsense.
This is so good. One has to share it far and wide.
Moses, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Elijah, etc never had a problem. Sadly David Wilkerson cosigns this. My fav preacher
What would you say to Orthodox Christians who claim their Church’s traditions are a higher authority because at a point in time there was no canonized scripture? Basically what came first, the Church or the Bible.
If a pastor says from the pulpit the Lord spoke to me (such and such)…Is that spiritual abuse?
If I read the Bible out loud in order to hear God's audible voice, doesn't that make me God?
No more than reading an audio Bible by listening makes the narrator God. Does that help?
😂😂😂. Good point hahaha 😅
