    This conversation hits home so much. I don’t hate the fact that I’m not a black man’s first choice. I have always been treated differently by black men than lighter complexion females. I felt some kinda way when I was younger. I met my husband who isn’t black 16 years ago and now we have biracial children. Now the very same ppl who didn’t give me a second glance always have something negative to say about me and they never wanted me to begin with. They (dominate society) created the separation and they’re reaping the benefits. That includes your women and men. No black man I’ve ever dated could take me seriously due my complexion, my husband thought that it was the most beautiful feature I had. Everyone appreciates US more than WE do.

    • @nikkinoel8748
      @nikkinoel8748 5 лет назад +1

      Kori Richards Actually I don’t blame the black man. I’m grateful for black men and love them dearly. And yes as a child I fantasized about being a lighter complexion only because I wanted to be viewed as beautiful. This wasn’t just limited to my peers who made me feel this way but ADULTS as well. It’s trauma that is so prevalent in our community. You further prove my point on how their tactics of separation has strongly prevailed. Love you brother and I pray that we both break free from our PTSD of being BLACK AMERICANS.

    • @Provemewrongwithfacts
      @Provemewrongwithfacts 5 лет назад +3

      Nikki Noel - Black people have been brainwashed by society's idealistic view of beauty., i.e, the "closest thing to white, is right". Therefore, black people love these "You black ...." negative comment. When I was in high school, a black girl called me a "black limousine", and laughed. I'm not even that dark. I'm kind of milk chocolatey. But it's been ingrained, and accepted in the black community to do those kinds of things. Also, black people love these hypocritical shaming tactics. I don't care who you choose, it's your life, as long as you're happy. Those black people could not care less about your happiness. They just care about shaming you.

    What's crazy about this is......I use to work in the Seasonal Department at Lowe's. I worked with these 3 white guys who were pretty cool for the most part. This one white guy named Caleb ....he and I became really cool, but he was always asking those "Black Questions".. I remember one day we were looking at the women walking through the store and he started telling me how White Men 99% of the time only date Black women who are very dark skinned with natural hair. I said, so White guys don't date light-skinned Black Women....he said preferably Not. I sat back for a minute pondering...what he said. I asked why do White Men prefer Darker Black Women. He said, honestly and I'm almost embarrassed to tell you this, but we see them more exotic like how we saw them in slavery plus...alot of them hate their dark skin, so they worship white people, so that we can give them a mixed child. He went on to say that it's a fetish to see their semen sprayed on dark skin. I sat their not saying anything, because I wanted to hear it from the horses mouth. White guys have a fetish with dark skinned women. So now when I see a mixed couple....9 times out of 10....I always see what he told me, but you can't tell those Black women that he truly doesn't love her....she will only think you are hating because her own community didn't except her

    Dear Black Americans, don't be confused or feel as if you're by yourselves. It may seem that way b/c many of you aren't well traveled or have only lived stateside, but white people experience these same issues and it comes from no type of traumatic past at all. Nationality doesn't equate to race, but many Turks don't look traditionally white with blonde hair and blue eyes. Neither do Syrians, Israelis, or Poles. Shit, very many Italians look dramatically different from many Spanish citizens. There is most certainly conflict and a noticeable difference between these parties that comes from one white person being lighter or darker with straighter hair than the other. So please don't let the vail remain over your eyes as if this is a black only problem. Vladimir himself is Russian and look completely different from Ed Sheeran, who is British. They are both clearly white men and they would receive different treatments based upon where they are at certain times. So it something that takes place for all races, nationalities, and ethnicities:
    Chinese people look down upon many Singaporeans. They're both Asian.
    Japanese look down upon many Pakistani. They're both Asian.
    So it's everywhere. Don't feel worse of or more at war than any other race b/c there is a trauma attached to yours and not theirs. So continue to be yourself and bless up. Much love.

    Genetically transfered slavery mind state???? Wow I have to research this cause animal genetics allows baby's to know
    How to adapt and live just off of genetic memorie transfer! So it's possible to transfer emotional memories??? If so then that's scary for a number of reasons
    And the biggest one I fear is not being able to change if the pass dictates our future??? Its a good platform for a debate! because if
    I can pass my dominant emotion
    Of slavery my child won't have to worry about the insecure feelings
    But how do you fight the fact that they keep reminding us of how we was treated like animals just to break our spirits??? Is that what Kanye West is talking about???

    I always hated my color and the fact my mom is a blonde haired, blue eyed woman. I wanted to look like my dad. I wanted darker skin.. sometimes still do. Once my parents split, my blackness was a piece of my dad I held onto for dear life. My school had a number of black students you count and name. There, I was always considered one of them. They knew I was black and let me know it too. Regardless of the shade of my skin.. even though it made me mad, it kind of made me proud. Daddy always told me I was a strong black woman, and to be proud of my color, my curls and my history, so I was. Pointing out my blackness was a compliment in my eyes. Racism from white folks pissed me off, but didn’t hurt my feelings, but I wasn’t prepared for what awaited me.
    As a single mother, my mom had to move us to a neighborhood she could afford. To my joy, there were black faces everywhere, and finally black kids to play with and belong to. (All my black relatives live in North Carolina.. my moms family is white and low key racist) I was brutally bullied and beaten and excluded by a people, young and old, who I admired and loved. I wanted to be part of them, and I thought I was. But I quickly learned that I belonged nowhere. That hurt worse than any name a white person could ever call me. It only got worse as I grew older because I also come from a very strict family. Only clean music and age appropriate movies. That means no rap, no Friday, no Set I Off.. I was culturally behind. My hair only made things worse because neither I, nor my mother knew how to properly take care of my it, so I walked around with a HUGE frizzy target on the back of my head, and everyone took aim. The neighborhood made sure I knew I wasn’t really black and I didn’t belong.. the girls jumped me and cut my hair, the boys only wanted to own me like a shiny new toy, and when I denied them, they lied and said I did disgusting things. (even though I knew NOTHING about sex) No one wanted to be my friend. A few girls pretended, but only to take me to a dangerous part of town and lose me on purpose, then when I found my way out and back to them, they laughed as they jumped me and threw me and my book bag in the pool. The older folks looked at me with disgust as if my mother’s audacity and crimes were my only identity... so I tried to prove them wrong. I became a fighter, spoke with slang and my families natural country accent. I practiced all the dances and binge watched all the black movies. I learned every word to every rap, soul, and r&b song I could get my hands on. I studied my history tirelessly. I talked black struggle and pride.. and I perfected my own greens, black eyed peas and Mac n cheese recipes.. I tried my hardest to prove I was just as black as them, if not more and that I deserved to be part of them.
    Unfortunately, tv and the neighborhood kids couldn’t teach me what it really meant to be black.. only how to be ghetto.. (no the two are not synonymous) and since my lack of hood knowledge seemed to nullify my blackness even after I worked so hard already, I changed even more. I smoked weed and hung out with gangs. I dated dark skinned men only because I didn’t want light skinned babies. (Im now married an amazing man who happens to also be dark skinned, because let’s face it, black is BEAUTIFUL.) I even refused to go to the advanced classes that I qualified for because there weren’t many black kids and I didn’t wanna be teased about it anymore. I simultaneously had the highest test scores and most referrals of the entire student body.
    Basically I ruined my life because of wanting to belong and my self esteem, along with my sense of identity was destroyed. I still struggle sometimes.. my husband’s fam calls me the white girl, swears I can’t cook or dance. They don’t believe I do my own daughters hair or could possibly know how.. and it hurts. They tell me I don’t get to have an opinion on black issues cuz I’m white. Some of them even started calling me Becky when we met. (Shut that down quick)
    I never thought I was better, I only wanted to belong. Now, I still struggle internally from time to time, but I just want to be me. I’ve finally learned that I don’t have to be the brand of blackness everyone wants to be. I don’t have to like Love and Basketball or sweet potato pie. I can me me, and me is back. And me is white. And I’m learning to be ok with that. I won’t allow anyone else to make me feel like I’m less than all that my ancestors died for me to be.. a strong biracial, black woman. My daughters biological mom is white and I refuse to allow her to dissolve into the woman I became through hate and my own insecurities. She will know her identity is not a label that can be given or taken by anyone. No hand me downs here except the fire that is the blood of fighters that runs through both our veins.
