- The Amps 'Tipp City' was released back in 1995. The Breeders were on a break, so Kim Deal made some music - firstly as Tammy and the Ampersands, which was eventually shortened to The Amps.
Jim MacPherson who played alongside her in The Breeders joined, as well as Dayton locals Nate Farley (who played in Guided by Voices amongst others) and Luis Lerma.

As someone who lives in Tipp City, the mere existence of this song is baffling.

The Deal sisters are from the Dayton area (Huber Heights). That's all you need to know.
I saw them open up for Foo Fighters back in 1996. I had no idea who they were, but noticed all their gear on stage had "Breeders" painted on it. Then I saw Kim Deal walk out on stage and I got really excited.
I saw them in Cleveland on the same tour!!! I was a huge that dog fan and they opened. When she walked on stage we were all like "holy shit! is that Kim Deal?"

Was a big fan of the breeders and kept hearing this song on a vans commercial..when I saw Kim my mouth immediately dropped… glad she’s getting more recognition
1995 was absolute peak of all genres music
The best year of my young teenage life for sure. 15 years old without a care in the world, a seemingly endless hot summer and a time when it felt like all-time classic records were coming out on a weekly basis.
I got this record on vinyl a month after it came out for my sixteenth birthday and I love it to this day.

Hello by Poe was released 20 days before Pacer in October 95. While it doesn't explicitly say "internet", the titular song is about BBSs and appears to be the earliest use of the word 'modem' in lyrics.

I met her in 1996 at a private gig for Mo Wax's Money Mark's Keyboard repair, she was touring as The Amps and my way cool girlfriend intro'd us.
She literally walked over and said my boyfriend standing over by the cigarette machine is your biggest fan. It's true I've followed her since the Pixies.
She came over and I was almost speechless, just in awe really.
We argued about cigarette label warnings, she bought three packs until she was happier with the warning label finally deciding yeah okay i'll settle and smoke these. She played pool and was swish and lightly toasted with the brews. She was cool as only Kim Deal can be, I got a signed autograph and we spoke about silly stuff for about 5 minutes. My girlfriend just proudly grinned watching me oogle and ahh knowing my dream of meeting my favourite musician of all time had come true.

Definitely one of Kim’s best albums.
Kim Deal's songs all seem to have some magic + bizarre + unexpected combination of elements: strange/sweet/melody/hook and humor. She always seemed to trust her own music and creativity however/wherever it ended up. Maybe it is all just a trick and a lot of thought and effort goes into sounding this pure and carefree??? I don't care to know, I just know I will be listening.

Years ago i was standing in line at a White Castles in Huber Heights,Ohio, kept looking at the girl ahead of me and after several glances she asked if i knew her? I said no, but she looked just like Kim Deal, she started laughing and said what a coincidence since her name was Kim Deal, she was so sweet and laid back i told her I'd had always been a Breeders and Amps fan

It's so sad that 4AD has no signed great indie artists like pixies, throwing Muses et all anymore, neither weird, artsy acts (Dead Can Dance, His Name is Alive, etc) or revolutionary pop music (Colourbox, AR Kane, Frazier Chorus, etc). Now, 4AD offers to us z-class forgettable American rap. So sad.
