Project 2: Frankenstein Creature
Professional comics making is all about collaboration - working together to make something better than what you could make alone! Let’s create a creature together. Fold a sheet of paper into thirds, like a letter, making sure you can see the top edge. Draw whatever kind of head you want, but don’t show anyone! Then flip it under and pass your paper to the next student who will draw whatever body and arms they want. Flip it under, pass it again, and the next student draws whatever legs they want. Unfold to see your creature! You can redraw your favorite monster design in your own style, and challenge yourself to add colors, a name, and a back story.
About the artist:
Kathryn Briggs is a comic creator, art teacher, and artist based in the Greater Philadelphia area. Her love affair with comics began in 2012 while pursuing an MFA at Dundee University, Scotland. She is the author and illustrator of Magpie, a collection of short comics from Throwaway Press and The New Chapter Tarot, a wholly original tarot deck. She is the illustrator for Val McDermid’s first graphic novel, Resistance.
