That's really cool! My roommate and I bought a Weedo Tina2 Basic printer a few months back, but I've been too intimidated to actually get much use out of it so far. I should totally try and print some little Digimon figures.

You had the right idea with the putty, but you should do putty > car filler grey primer > sand > repeat till smooth all over to your liking

Very easy way to smooth prints is to use UV resin and corn starch. You can find vids about it on youtube
