Russia calling for restraint while knee deep in a war 🧐
If iran goes into war than all those iranian sales to russia go kaput. So yeah, russia doesn't want that escalation at all. Also, russia just shot itself in the foot with this one cause now israel fully sees russia as an iranian ally which in turn drives israel foreign policy to ally itself with ukrainian interests, something israel haf avoided this far.
Thing is in the caucasus, things are even more complicated.
Thats exactly why they are calling for restrain Russia cant take a ww3. Their economy will break even harder
And to add on, a full-scale war involving the West in the Middle East will force Russia to intervene on Iran's side, something Russia cannot afford to do now. The domestic political costs will be far more significant, rivaling the Afghan campaign, and be potentially regime-ending.
@@puraLusa Russia and China gave the green light to Iran so idk where you getting your info if it’s from CNN then I’m sure you are getting all lies. Russia it’s wining and I’m sure they want revenge for that attack the USA was part of.
Russia's been surprisingly exercising restraint in Ukraine. If anything the attack shows Iran much prefers proxy warfare over anything direct.
Sounds like someone else I know
wonder where they learned that?
By them directly attacking Israel? Thats a pretty ridiculous translation.
Doing so from a distance is not a proxy attack, this attack was literally them changing from using proxies to direct involvement.
@@Vatsyayana87 They were forced to respond directly, cause Iranian soil was attacked.
In an attempt to avoid escalation into a direct war while being able to say they retaliated at the same time, they telegraphed their attack so that actual damage would be extremely limited. Then they sent out the message that for them, the matter was resolved.
They're clearly trying to avoid a direct conflict.
Most of the missiles were launched from Iran direct. There were coordinated launches with paramilitary proxy groups in addition to the salvo launched from, again, Iran.

Iran sends a few tens of millions worth of ordinances, Israel defends itself by expending an estimated $1 billion in air defense capability… Not exactly a win for Israel either I’d say.
IDK- what % of their capabilities were used? If Iran's "a few tens of millions" was a more significant % of their capabilities than Israel's $1 billion then it was a clear win.
The US expended most of the effort downing the attack.
Israel has almost limitless funds. Iran doesn't. Was certainly a win for arms manufacturers.
@@adamabbas1487 Not Israel, say that the US tax payers will be paying for their limitless funds as they have been.
That’s one data point, another would be to calculate what assets were protected and what would be the cost of replacement. If a billion dollars was spent to save 100 billion dollars in assets then it was a clear win in defense regardless of the cost to attack.
We definitely need a full length episode on this developing situation.

@@mannyperez4010lmao they are called suicide drones because they deploy their munitions by flying into the target as opposed to a plane firing a rocket.

I have yet to watch to the end so I don't know if it's mentioned but something that is rarely mentioned is the fact that even Saudi Arabia was involved in the defense. Though they never formally contacted Israel and co. as far as I'm aware. But when the dust settled, Saudi officials released a statement claiming they believe the entire war was engineered by Iran to drive a wedge between the normalisation negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. This specific attack might ironically bring more peace lol
The Saudi's were involved? That's interesting.
@@ltkreg I know, right!? I was really surprised to hear that myself! But if you think about it, it makes perfect sense! Considering the distance and scale of the attack, some drones and missiles probably went through Saudi airspace, where they were shot down.

Lets not forget Iran's long history of disregard to foreign embassies. Seems a bit hypocritical for them to blame Israel, when it wasn't even the embassy itself, rather a building in the compound, which served to coordinate attacks against Israel...
1979 - The US embassy in Iran is attacked and embassy employees are held captive
2011 - UK embassy in Iran is attacked
1992 - Israel's embassy in Argentina is bombed, killing 29, Argentina's court found Iran was behind the bombing.
2 wrongs don't make a right.
Lets be honest if Israel wasnt a huge threat to peace in middle eastern countries they wouldnt attacked them like how they dont like Us. Had Iran chosen to swallow its pride and host that meeting in, say Saudi Arabia, Israel would have left it well enough alone. The Sauds are basically the only muslim nation Israel is on somewhat amiable terms with, while Iran hates them.as much as Israel itself.
Israel took an oppertunity given they and Syria are still at war by nature, so frankly, while a move even WE Americans dissapprove of, its an.oppertunity we also fully understand.
Israel didnt waste their chance to really hurt Irans coand structure. Replacing fanatics is cheap, replacing veterans, top advisors and generals especially...thats far, far harder than even replacing tanks. Thats an asset Iran CANT replace effectively.

Something I feel missed in the analysis is the cost and amount of Isreali defence, I think I read somewhere that the Isreali defence of the attack was 10 times more expensive then the Iranian attack, and in the case of full blown war the "Iron dome" will likly be occupied with Hizaballa attacks from Lebanon

That was great, thanks.
It's a bit disingenuous to call the attack "perplexing", Simon. Israel did openly attack an Iranian consulate, which is a violation of international law.
Yeah, and even a cursory look would show Iran REPEATEDLY said this is why they did this...
The difference is Iran didn't attack civilians in this while Israel goes after people that can't shoot back, like aid workers, paramedics and children.
Don't get me wrong. No fan of Iran at all. But they have a right to defend themselves.
Same could be said about Iran supporting and directly giving resources to Hamas. That's hardly an innocent bystander or impartial observer. Israel can't be surprised at Iran shooting back anymore than Iran can act outraged at their thinly-veiled proxy war finally getting back to them.
I disagree. It's perplexing because the attack failed so miserably, and Iran should have known its own capabilities before attacking. And then being wishy washy about the goals achieved.
@@The_Lunch_ManDid it though? Base they were trying to hit did get hit. On top of that Iran got endless information from this.
@@joshuabryant9845 it did. If 99% of your munitions fail to reach your intented target, and those that did were inaccurate and did negligible damage to your intended target, it's a failure. I honestly think although they had a general knowledge Nato and the west in a whole are more powerful. I don't think Iran realised exactly how advanced the UK, USA and IDFs Air defense systems truly we're, or the fact of how well organised the five eyes, nato and west are. There's been a long assumption nato are asleep. That clearly isn't true and if they didnt before, Iran now know that taking us head on in an all out war is mass suicide.
