Where I work, we have an anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system, and of course, detection alarms, which happen to be commander 3s, but with orange strobes.
I need one of those commander 3s. The strobe looks amazing with the green lens
Gotta love these devices!
The explanation on why that stopper has a horn on it is made out of hilarity lol😂
So cool! Wow, that's bright!
I got a Potter CHS 24 GW with this exact lens, I can’t wait till I get it next week!
back to the awesome beginnings again
I love colored strobe alarms!
Awesome! I wonder how many different Commander 3's they made.
In my local grocery they have a gentex commander 3 Green strobe at the panel
Yo, I love your stuff
I have noticed that the Fire-Lite BG-8 in the Stopper, was dated January 29, 2015. So, do they STILL make BG-8 pull stations, even though the BG-12 is the current pull station?
I have these things at fred Meyer, but it is a safety detect alarm, it randomly goes off because that means it didn't detect any fire, and it's not loud
Haha it flashes green. I love it
Why did the horn start glitching at 3:51?
wow! nice test!! I have a green strobe commander 3 also!
Cool!
S.E.R. Safety green fire alarm is awesome
yea but it's really not a fire alarm

Great video! I see you had to get another shelf lol :D
Thanks! I sure did! I was way out of space so I brought this down from my room for more alarms to be on.
Yeah. I'm running out of shelf space too lol! #Firealarmcollectorproblems :D
I have never seen any like this ever
Found one of these at Restore in white except with an amber strobe. It was mounted on a white box and said something like "DOOR ALARM" on it. I passed it up since they wanted $15 for it but now I really wish I bought it.
That was a steal man! Those are actually worth 60-70 dollars
@@IvanTimber Yeah I've since figured that out, I really regret it now.
I think a good idea for the color coding is blue for police situations (like an active shooter), red for high level alerts besides fire or police situations, green for general information, and yellow for elevated alerts (like weather).
That's what I like about these alarms! They can mean whatever you want them to.
On board an aircraft carrier that I visited, the color green was used for a chemical release alarm. So if you had, for instance, chlorine gas for treating a very large swimming pool, then the green alarm and strobe would be used for release of that gas, or if you had a chemical lab somewhere that chemicals could mix and create a hazard situation, you would use the green strobes there in addition to your normal fire alarms.
Another note: I have also seen the color green used for an AFFF fire suppression alarm, to indicate that foam was being deployed.
After more research, it looks like I was wrong about green being appropriate for a chlorine gas emergency. The universal color for chlorine gas canisters, piping, and gas detection equipment is bright yellow. The yellow Gentex strobe would be appropriate in a facility where a chlorine gas release is possible.
The yellow strobes are used for amber alerts
awesome grant!
Thanks!
There is an older alarm in my school that had a red light. Not a strobe, a light. We have simplex 2901-9333 bells.
I see these at my Meijer... it's used to show when a cart lock is activated.
Can i have permission to make your vids into a remix
@@Exitsignandemergencylightfan I see
How about the alarm can be used for first aid things?
Great vid
Dose that flash look a little blue or am I just color blind
ALL of my local Kroger stores have the green Gentex Commander strobes over the main entrances. I do not know what they are for. They sometimes go off randomly and no one does anything.
They're for a theft prevention system called Purchek that is able to detect whether a trolley has gone past the checkout or not; if it hasn't, then it locks the trolley wheels and sounds the Commander. It doesn't appear to be the most reliable system though as it often goes off falsely. They've just started installing them in shops in the UK and it's the first time that Gentex Commanders have ever been used in the UK
@@AutoUnder Huh. So it's an alarm that tells you when someone leaves? Interesting. Thank you.
Do you have a gentex commander 3 that you could give away. It’s my favorite one and would love to have one
Hey Grant, are you a fan of gentex
They is cool👍👍👍👍
you are so lucke you have my fire alarms that was in my old school
why can't a fire alarm with a red strobe be in a fire alarm system?
It may mess with the candela, it may not be bright enough. Also, look up "Simplex 4050", that has a red light, not a red strobe.
Had a feeling it would be gentex!
Lol
That’s the cart alarm in the Home Depot
Haha that's funny a fire alarm w the green strobe but do you use plotagon
Vera Kafer Technically, it is not a fire alarm.
That's is awesome!!
I think glass like in the 4251-30 is an even better false alarm deterrent than a stopper. Your average school prankster probably doesn't have to balls to break the sheet of glass.
I new what it was from your 2,000 subs thing or something like that
What would different colored strobes be used for??
Blue is for security, green is medical or hazerdous or a general emergency, red is uncommon to see anywhere but is usually for extremely high emergencies, clear is fire or general emergency, yellow is for weather or general emergency.
What do green strobes mean?
General alarms
In high school during tst they did i fire drills
Request: for the next wall system test use a EST Genesis horn strobe with a EST sega pull station
I have a Potter commander three!
1:52 you don't say
My local Fry’s marketplace uses an alarm like this as an anti theft alarm
At my school I have a gentex commander 3 and it’s code three
Where did you get it?

Jmac supply
In Britain they have red, orange or clear strobes
My local Sainsbury's have a Commander 3, but uses the green lens (like the one in this video) and uses the Code 3 Chime tone.
Hey grant I've got that strobe you gave me and I also got a chsr spectra alert chime strobe which I will make a video of on my new channel called the fire alarm review by the way I'm in the first person on RUclips to have the chime strobe

MJGodOfMusic1958 ya those are LOUD! my school has the same alarms. OUCH!!!
