For people looking for the 2mm ammunition, I usually find quite a bit in Concord alone. If your lock picking is good,and your scrounger rating is good, you have 5 locations in that town to unlock safes. Every couple days if game time, I go there to get those safes, mainly for the ammo, and the cheap pipe weapons that can be scrapped for mats.

+Golygt42 There are a few named enemies. Like Sarge in this video which is a special Sentrybot. Or Swan, I'm not going to spoil what Swan is, find it out by yourself. And a few others. Then there are the 'Legendary' versions of regular enemies. Like a Legendary Rad Roach (how scary) or a Legendary Feral Ghoul. This 'Legendary' prefix can be applied to all non-named enemies. And finally there is the chance to encounter enemies with a skull symbol next to their name. This means that they're a few levels above you and should (in theory) pose a threat (unless you have a beefy Gauss Rifle). It's possible to get a legendary enemy with the skull combination but I've yet to come across a named enemy with the legendary prefix. For example: I have came across Legendary Sentrybots (with and without skull) but never seen a Legendary Sarge. The amount of 'Legendaries' you encounter is dependent on your difuculty setting. On the easiest setting there are hardy any and on the hardest setting they become pretty frequent. Even more so in a certain zone you'll encounter in the main story line. Also the type of enemies get a wider range the higher your level gets. The fun really starts when you're facing a Legendary Alpha Deathclaw or a Legendary Super Mutant Warlord (with skull).
This weapon is a beast in survival, with Tier 10 adrenaline, mister sandman fully upgraded, and getting sneak shots. When everything is right, base damage can reach 828 damage, but with the 4x damage multiplier with mister sandman you can get over 3000 damage per shot. It’s fucking amazing.
I don't think I have ever been more satisfied in a game, at least to my memory, than when I see my enemies head explode in a shower of crimson chunks in Fallout. It always puts a smile on my face.
it's just a crippling Gauss rifle. It's not unique. this is just the easiest way to get one. Kellogs pistol is not unique. Final Judgement is not unique. The broadsider is Unique. The Cryolator is unique.
+TheKrensada It is considered unique. It has a special name, and it has a guaranteed location ( unless your game bugs out ). Specific legendary weapons don't have fixed drop locations. They also just have the weapons name and the effect name banged together. Unlike say, The Last Minute, Cryolator, etc. Unfortunately Bethesda didn't implement unique skins onto unique variants of standard weapons, like we saw in New Vegas. The introduction of legendary items also fucked things up, blurring the line even more when it comes to unique items.

They are just named weapons. The Cryolator, as far as I know can only be found in vault 111 and nowhere else in the game. Same goes for the Broadsider. And Those are what I consider Unique weapons. Lorenzo's artifact looks like a regular gamma gun, but it has a unique modification you cannot find on random legendary bad guys like you can the last minute, or Kellogg's pistol. I mean I get that they are considered unique weapons, but I personally think it is an erroneous classification for them, as I can have more than one Last minute if I wanted to.

Weapons like the Cryolator can hardly be called unique because technically they have no special effect that's just the type of gun they are.

There is however more than one Crippling Gauss rifle, and this one just so happens to be sold in a store with a name. if i was to rename this Gauss rifle something else, and then found another crippling gauss rifle. and modded them both to be exactly the same, you would not be able to tell them apart. that makes this weapon not unique by definition. All I'm saying is That i feel that calling them unique is wrong. they should be called named weapons. you could also call them artifacts if you want it to sound cooler, but they should not be called unique.
TheKrensada Do yourself a favour. Open the game and try to rename a *unique* weapon and you will find that the name reverts back to its unique name no matter what. Even if you opent he rename thing for it, and it lets you do that much, when you try to stop naming it the name reverts

It is possible to get the gauss rifle as soon as you get the Brotherhood of steel unlocked , all you have to do is throw a grenade through the armory window in an exact location and it will fly out. All you have to do then is pick it up and bring it to a location where you can be hidden and steal it .
I was wandering around and I found a legendary gunner with a gauss rifle with the same mods as my Last Minute (fully decked out) with the legendary effect of 50% more damage but increased recoil I put it in the Castle workbench because that was amazing.
One should probably note that the quest Taking Independence is extremely difficult for low-level characters. You will end up fighting one of the most resilient enemy types in the game, so you may want to bring your Fat Man with you if you are below level 20.
+DailYxDosE High Charisma, cap collector and the perk that I have forgotten that gives you bonus options and extra charisma when talking to the opposite sex.
you can get a pair of gauss rifles from a plan crash east of vault 111 called sky-something its all in the smuggling compartment which is locked behind an expert lock. other items include 30 fusion cores 4 combat rifles and some ammo for them accordingly.
i found the last minute randomly, i wish i could remember how. i have yet to buy guns, idk why i just hoard caps for ammo. tbh i havnt used the gun once.
Suppressing the gauss rifle has to be one of my biggest immersion breaking grievances. Even if you suppress a weapon, a supersonic bullet will go out with a bang. And going subsonic with a gauss rifle is pretty much a waste of its potential.
as a heads up, i managed to get this quest nearly immediately after taking fort independence back, as i fast traveled back to Sanctuary and then back to The Castle, Ronnie Shaw was waiting there when i returned. however, since i had some minuteman quests saved up during exploration, its possible that i turned them in without thinking about it, and that satisfied the conditions to unlock Ronnie - however, im not sure as i could be confusing the Brotherhood missions i was working on for Danse, Rhys and Haylen, since i was working on quests in the same general area. as ones i already had.
So with the rifle, sneaking, and silenced weapons perks... this thing will be super beast... hmm. This gives me a new build to try out. Thanks for the tip, Camelworks. Also, as a recommendation, I suggest using this gear and items when trying to buy the ammo from vendors for Gauss Rifle ammo if you have low Charisma: summer shorts, formal hat, fashionable glasses, any Charisma drinks (Gwinett drinks are the most effective since you can spawn a lot from Drinking Buddy at your bases), and grape mentats to increase your charisma a lot (and it decreases purchase prices at vendors by 10 percent and increases selling prices by 10 percent). I use that for my low Charisma characters to get hard to find ammo on the cheap.
I personally love the minute men ending and I loved this gun although I had to do most of the minute men quests and buy I think it is worth also it is perfect for sniper builds and I love the ending of where I left the railroad and the Brother Hood of Steel alive and took out the institute.
I found two shoot gaus rifle in mision atom cats in final mission atom cat garage attack gunner and one gunner from allgunner attacm they use two shhot gaus rifle
Top tip that my bro found out, if you use the concrete shack foundations, you can rebuild the castle walls in pretty much perfect condition as the foundations clip through the floor! So instead of having lil gates you can have full walls if you have enough concrete! :3

This video could have been a whole lot shorter if you just cut the first four minutes of the video and said "you have to progress with the minutemen questline until you can have ronnie shaw as a trader."
I picked mine up @ lvl22 on the Brotherhood of Steel blimp, pick pocketed the armory keys from a sleeping dudes pocket, gained entry, then stole while hidden. Also grabbed ammo and x01 helm.
There is a last minute in the brotherhood ship. A vendor who sells weapons that is locked in the cage. Hack the terminal and there is the rifle. Make sure u have a stealth boy on.
You should seen guass Rifle in Fallout 2. It's even more impressive. The only weapon that could rival that little monster's damage was Pulse rifle, and it had much lower range. Oh by the way if you wanted one shot kill against those though Enclave soldiers the best option was Rocket Launcer with AP rockets. Thats right, we had Armor Piercing Rockets back then.
I have this and gave Cait a modded Gauss rifle with the same damage (211). A super mutant jumped or fell off a balcony and she blew his head clean off in mid air.
by the way guys the mission taking independence is unlocked after doing at least 3 settlement quest and if not just do them until preston activates the mission.
What is the idea behind putting a suppressor on a gauss rifle? The sound the bullet would make just by breaking the sound-barrier should allways give away the position of the shooter and every bullet would make a loud "crack" sound passing a target. Most likely even louder then a normal rifle-bullet would.
My in game Gauss rifle does 408 damage. Don't need a fatman/ nuka nuke launcher or it's expensive ammo when you can pack a punch that big numerous times for way less caps.

I've found a Gauss Rifle that fires 2 shots at once, and after fully modding it (including a silencer) It does 483 damage per shot, WITHOUT charging it. I one hit most things on Very Hard. Broke the game.
If you use this gun the compensator would be better, if you are shooting from afar a supressor is useless and since it is a charged shot recoil should not be a concern, you need the extra range from the compensator.
you can get the Gauss rifle by going to the pryden and going to the weapon vender, the man who needs help getting food from some farmers,if you go into cars without a weapon equipped and your fists out,as soon as you go into vats and your character for a punch,press circle,on PlayStation, then yoy will be teleported inside the room.then you hold x button and pick up the Gauss rifle and the xo-1 power armor piece if you want it and drop it outside of the window you talk to the man.then when the person that comes and talk to the man who sells the weapons,you do the same glitch where you teleported into the place and then you carry the Gauss rifle and the helmet and drop it some where you are hidden when crouching,you steal it and you get a free Gauss rifle and a xo-1 power armor helmet
So i just took this Rifle at lvl 57 with pretty much all Weapon-Related Perks to the max. It does 441 damage + enemies nearby tend to explode to. This thing is OP (Fire Rate= 66,Range= 203, Accuracy= 112)
you cannot buy this from a shop vendor - only a certain npc can give it away ( tried it with 5 vendors and all perks equipped and with vendors invested in ) ( tried for 33 ingame days, might have been unlucky )
you can shoot BOS knights through their power armor helmet in 1 shot. meaning you can kill all the BOS fellas you want without needing to piss them off as long as you're hidden when you actually shoot them and get their power armor (pieces)

The survivors in Fallout 4 can create gauss rifles and power armour but can't make walls and roofs without holes in them

And I also recommend wearing Power Armor for that fight. I lost count of how many times I died during that quest the 1st time that I took it.
Just move to dodge poison spit from queen and shoot from distance.

Can confirm. Max level weapon vendors in your settlement stock this, as well as a bunch of other Unique weapons that rotate every couple of days.

Suppressing the gauss rifle has to be one of my biggest immersion breaking grievances. Even if you suppress a weapon, a supersonic bullet will go out with a bang. And going subsonic with a gauss rifle is pretty much a waste of its potential.

as a heads up, i managed to get this quest nearly immediately after taking fort independence back, as i fast traveled back to Sanctuary and then back to The Castle, Ronnie Shaw was waiting there when i returned. however, since i had some minuteman quests saved up during exploration, its possible that i turned them in without thinking about it, and that satisfied the conditions to unlock Ronnie - however, im not sure as i could be confusing the Brotherhood missions i was working on for Danse, Rhys and Haylen, since i was working on quests in the same general area. as ones i already had.
In terms of looks, Gauss rifle of Fallout 3 or Gauss rifle of Fallout 4?

So with the rifle, sneaking, and silenced weapons perks... this thing will be super beast... hmm. This gives me a new build to try out. Thanks for the tip, Camelworks.
Also, as a recommendation, I suggest using this gear and items when trying to buy the ammo from vendors for Gauss Rifle ammo if you have low Charisma: summer shorts, formal hat, fashionable glasses, any Charisma drinks (Gwinett drinks are the most effective since you can spawn a lot from Drinking Buddy at your bases), and grape mentats to increase your charisma a lot (and it decreases purchase prices at vendors by 10 percent and increases selling prices by 10 percent). I use that for my low Charisma characters to get hard to find ammo on the cheap.
I personally love the minute men ending and I loved this gun although I had to do most of the minute men quests and buy I think it is worth also it is perfect for sniper builds and I love the ending of where I left the railroad and the Brother Hood of Steel alive and took out the institute.

Top tip that my bro found out, if you use the concrete shack foundations, you can rebuild the castle walls in pretty much perfect condition as the foundations clip through the floor! So instead of having lil gates you can have full walls if you have enough concrete! :3

I picked mine up @ lvl22 on the Brotherhood of Steel blimp, pick pocketed the armory keys from a sleeping dudes pocket, gained entry, then stole while hidden. Also grabbed ammo and x01 helm.

There is a last minute in the brotherhood ship. A vendor who sells weapons that is locked in the cage. Hack the terminal and there is the rifle. Make sure u have a stealth boy on.

You should seen guass Rifle in Fallout 2. It's even more impressive. The only weapon that could rival that little monster's damage was Pulse rifle, and it had much lower range. Oh by the way if you wanted one shot kill against those though Enclave soldiers the best option was Rocket Launcer with AP rockets. Thats right, we had Armor Piercing Rockets back then.

I have this and gave Cait a modded Gauss rifle with the same damage (211). A super mutant jumped or fell off a balcony and she blew his head clean off in mid air.
by the way guys the mission taking independence is unlocked after doing at least 3 settlement quest and if not just do them until preston activates the mission.

I got the legendary LUCKY GAUSS riffle. All crits are double damage and the meter fills up 15perc faster. With the right perks everything is 1 shot.
There is only one (that I know of) weapon vendor that makes your level 3 weapon stand in level 4. But he requires a population of 30 to even find him

What is the idea behind putting a suppressor on a gauss rifle?
The sound the bullet would make just by breaking the sound-barrier should allways give away the position of the shooter and every bullet would make a loud "crack" sound passing a target. Most likely even louder then a normal rifle-bullet would.

My in game Gauss rifle does 408 damage. Don't need a fatman/ nuka nuke launcher or it's expensive ammo when you can pack a punch that big numerous times for way less caps.

I've found a Gauss Rifle that fires 2 shots at once, and after fully modding it (including a silencer) It does 483 damage per shot, WITHOUT charging it. I one hit most things on Very Hard. Broke the game.
Get the scrounger perk, makes rare ammo drop in the ammo boxes, including 2mm and fusion cores.

If you use this gun the compensator would be better, if you are shooting from afar a supressor is useless and since it is a charged shot recoil should not be a concern, you need the extra range from the compensator.
you can get the Gauss rifle by going to the pryden and going to the weapon vender, the man who needs help getting food from some farmers,if you go into cars without a weapon equipped and your fists out,as soon as you go into vats and your character for a punch,press circle,on PlayStation, then yoy will be teleported inside the room.then you hold x button and pick up the Gauss rifle and the xo-1 power armor piece if you want it and drop it outside of the window you talk to the man.then when the person that comes and talk to the man who sells the weapons,you do the same glitch where you teleported into the place and then you carry the Gauss rifle and the helmet and drop it some where you are hidden when crouching,you steal it and you get a free Gauss rifle and a xo-1 power armor helmet

So i just took this Rifle at lvl 57 with pretty much all Weapon-Related Perks to the max. It does 441 damage + enemies nearby tend to explode to. This thing is OP (Fire Rate= 66,Range= 203, Accuracy= 112)
you cannot buy this from a shop vendor - only a certain npc can give it away ( tried it with 5 vendors and all perks equipped and with vendors invested in )
( tried for 33 ingame days, might have been unlucky )
Its quite hard to find Gauss rifle ammunition but when you have the nuka world dlc its more possible just make sure you can get past the overboss

you can shoot BOS knights through their power armor helmet in 1 shot. meaning you can kill all the BOS fellas you want without needing to piss them off as long as you're hidden when you actually shoot them and get their power armor (pieces)
