I did this kind of work for 13 years. Started as a tray line employee did all the stations from hot food, cold food, beverages, to runner. Moved up to the host position delivering trays to patients rooms and picking up their menus. Then finally to diet office clerk working in the office answering phones and processing diet orders to checker of the trayline. It was a steady job for me, but eventually if you care about having a social life this isn’t the job for you. Hospital work is 365 days a year, you will need to work at least half of the weekends of the year including most holidays. I hated working weekends especially in the 2nd shift because it gets painfully boring and depressing. I’m so grateful for the experience I got working this style of work BUT I’ll cherish my current Monday to Friday schedule and off every weekend and holidays.
I’m a dietary aide too. More specifically they call my job patient ambassador. I take personal patient orders, do tray line and deliver the trays. I work in a smaller hospital.
Derek i think thats his name looked nervous, but he handled it very well and fast, courteous, etc, he did a good job, kuddos to him, this video showed me alot as im training to be in the dietary position, im so nervous, but this gave me a better view of what you do and dont do, seems easy but difficult in some aspects of it
I'm a cook in a hospital and we do the tray line with 3 people! Today the census was around 95, and we did 13 guest trays. Not that much less than 140 trays. I look at this video and I think, WOW! look at all those people!
wait a minute,i saw some errors, the lady with the hairnet, along many of the gentlemen were not wearing gloves, just make sure you wear gloves and when im doubt change them often, big number one rule of thumb
I work here in Virginia at food nutritionist services. My department is not like this at all. I can see in this department are well trained and had an amazing manager leader. My department is not like this😢 everyone is rude and thinking about beating the patients and some of them bring food to home. Everyone is busy on their phone more than they do their job 😢

Ian Trevor We have 3 people in the morning 4 people at night and have about 250 per meal.
At my work we have 2 people on trayline w/ 1 cook, and multiple tray passers aka people bringing trays to room. We normally have 100-180 patients
Why so much people like seven on a tray line cuz
You guys and girls are very much appreciated. Thank You.
