A Kappa is a creature of Japanese mythology called a Yokai, which are anything from animals to spirits to animated objects. They’re kind of like Japanese style Cryptids.
I am listening to "I Who Have Never Known Men" on Spotify and I am riveted! If I didn't have to work I would have finished it in one sitting. I'm halfway through and cannot even guess how it will end! It's so good. So unique.
So many books I’m interested in 😊. A great Medusa retelling is Medusa by Rosie Hewlett. The cover, the synopsis, that sells it. But I never thought much about the story till during the pandemic when my son was on zoom school they were talking about it and I was like, wait a minute, Medusa sounds like the victim not the villain. That sent me down a rabbit hole, and gave me an opportunity to have discussions with my kid. Hope you enjoy your new books!
I got an arc of the God and Gumiho and I actually loved it! It felt so fresh and interesting. I don't normally like urban fantasy but I enjoyed the relationship between the two characters a lot.
So many short story collections! I actually love short story collections. I basically grew up on Night Shift and Four Past Midnight. I am excited for you to tackle IT! The story is problematic at times but whew, it is an amazing ride. Oh oh, I loved Leech. It's not for everyone, but MAN I devoured that book. I highly recommend the audiobook (even though you prefer the physical lol) because it's narrated by Abigail Thorn and she is a legend. She really brings an incredible atmosphere to the story. I really admire your attitude of "feeling drawn" to a book and deciding to read it even if the reviews are not so good. I am not that brave. (Also, hahaha "it might be a little too pop-culturey for me" girl, I feel you.) Excellent haul! Thank you for the video!🎃
I have a good feeling about leech 🤞🏻 I'll definitely check out the audiobook then! I find I tend to be someone who loves a low rated book 😂 so I need to just follow the ~energy~
I read Lost In The Garden recently and thought it was great. I would say it's kind of mis-advertised and it certainly is NOT about a vacation! That said, I think it'd be good to read on vacation. It is a perfect pick for Summer time. Love the dream like feel of it.
Out is one of my favourite books of all time!! The Vegetarian is really great. Han Kang in general writes great books. Her book Human Acts about the Gwangju Massacre in South Korea will stick with you forever. And as someone who really enjoys Darcy Coates, From Below wasn’t it for me. But I heard others love it.
Your channel has literally been everything to me lately! So happy to have discovered you! And congrats on all the success 💕💕 Okay now for the haul, crossroads was so good! And gruesome but in the best way, I think it deals with topics in such a great way. Also I have to agree, the eyes are the best part is such a stunning cover. One of my favourites of the year so far, and I just read it and LOVED it! I NEED you to read I who have never known men. I couldn’t stop thinking about it after reading it. And actually want to change my rating because it’s so good! 🎃
Omg that is so sweet 🥹 thank you so much 💕🫶🏻 I cannot wait to get to crossroads. I think I'm going to love it! Same with I who have never known men. I've been wanting to get to it for so long and it's definitely happening before the end of the year
The Flowers from the Void coverrrrrr 🙌 I have read another book from Kyle Winkler and loved it and had my eye on the one you haul in this video 🔥 Into the Sublime seems like it could be fun 👀 also Brat..that cover 👀🙌 I have a copy of New Animal and it seeks great, can't wait to get to it. Awesome haul ❤🎉🎃
Finally off work and got the chance to watch this! First off congrats on 7K!!! 💕LOVED this book haul so much! If you don't want to take on It by Stephen King just yet (and I don't blame you), I'd recommend Where He Can't Find You by Darcy Coates which has pretty similar vibes. I had such a hard time putting the book down especially before bed, but I couldn't stop reading it! I've been loving books by Darcy Coates so much lately. 🎃
Im only part way through the video but have already added quite a few to my library tbr (the ones they have anyway). I so wish I had better bookshops in my town, literally the only one dedicated to books is the Oxfam bookshop which seriously lacks in anything non-contemporary!
I'm happy I was able to give you some new books to look into! Only recently my town got a good used book store that didn't have literal moth ball books where the newest one was printed in 1950 😂 maybe yours will get a better bookshop soon 🤞🏻
OOH I have a feeling that you will LOVE “I am homeless if this is not my home”. It is an incredible book in general but I think it’ll really be up your alley
Love a book haul!! So many awesome books here!! I agree about the covers for We Have Always lived in the castle 😅 the only neat Shirley Jackson covers I've seen is the eye and castle for the Haunting of Hill House, and the shows cover for haunting of Hill House 😂 🎃🎃🎃🎃
I love the covers of some of those books ❤ I have so many Stephen King books such a huge fan of his not just because I'm in Maine lol but because I love his writing and stories ❤ but I put so many of these books on my to buy list just to check them out or my library list in case my library has them...Thank you for sharing ❤ love your channel im watching all your previous videos since I'm still Fairly new to your channel ❤
I am so behind on the Sarah lore. hoping to catch up!! I have been hella busy in my personal life 😁👰 congrats on your patreon!! I want to sign up when I can be active ALSO your merch looks soooooo good!! I am obsessed 😍🔥 I have had my eye on Thirst for so long. I hope its good!! OMG A Touch Of Jen. Pls lmk how you like it. The first half was SOOOO good to me but then 👀👀👀 Eileen. Yaaas 🙏🙏🙏 Perfect read for winter IMO 🎃
It's not an interesting lore 😂😂 I hope you've been busy with all good and fun things 🖤 Tysm! It's been so fun, but truly no pressure to join at all! Your support here is everything 🙏 I can always count on you to have read obscure books like A Touch of Jen 😂
🎃 clocked Thirst in the stack immediately. I’m obsessed with the cover and got it for my birthday 🤩 The Yellow Wallpaper made me fall in love with short fiction 🥰 I got the new cover of I Who Have Never Known Men and I don’t love it but it’s all they had and it was a frantic “need it now” buy that I still haven’t read 🙃
It was very recently released! I wanna say it came out 2-3 months ago? I live for weird and bizarre so I'll talk myself into picking it up at some point
Absolutely! I have a bunch but Bunny by Mona awad, Motherthing by ainslie hogarth, big Swiss by Jen beagin, and boy parts by Eliza Clark are some really good ones! If you want to go more horror elements - jawbone by Monica ojeda and chlorine by Jade song were great!
I also need to slow my roll. Would you say that subscription boxes are not really worth it? I would be worried about getting duplicates ♥️ Medusa is Greek myth, her story is super sad. She used to be a regular person until Poseidon came along 😢
@teslagoth9401 it definitely depends on the box! My only current active sub is nightworms. They post spoilers of the books each month, so you can skip if it would be a duplicate for you. Monetarily, it's not any cheaper than buying the books separately, honestly, but they do give authors signatures and other goodies, so it also depends on how much you value those things. Subs like fairyloot, bookish box, etc are great if you want special editions you cant get anywhere else. But I just found myself not reading any of the books I got because I'm just not THAT into fantasy/romance. I like it but I don't read it at the same rate as horror. But the books are stunning
🎃 I listened to the audiobook of Crossroads and it was really good ! If you haven’t read Silent Key by her I recommend it, it’s definitely interesting! For ocean horror I really like The Deep, Sacculina, and Into The Drowning Deep. Try them out if you haven’t already 🙂
I havent read silent key, I also want to check out below by her! I have read the deep and into the drowning deep but I'll have to check out sacculina. Thanks for the rec!
With the slaughter house but there definitely might be. Im hoping it's not in detail if that's the case, but I will definitely let it be known once I read it!
The audio for IT is 45 hrs 🙅♀🙅♀🙅♀ Surprisingly I didn't hate any Ali Hazelwood book I've read but I haven't kept the physical copies Just listened to We Have Always Lived in the Castle and liked it for how old it is! Ugh I loveeee that Evernight cover I'm a simple woman, I hear religious trauma and I add to my TBR
Idk if I'm more scared for a 45 hr audiobook or for a romance lmao. Old books always make me nervous too but I did read haunting of hill house and didn't hate it and that was like 10 years ago
no need to be intimidated by IT. You will fall in love with these characters and soon wish that it will never end.
That's motivating 🙌🏻
A Kappa is a creature of Japanese mythology called a Yokai, which are anything from animals to spirits to animated objects. They’re kind of like Japanese style Cryptids.
🎃 Night Shift is my favorite King collection. Almost every story is excellent.
Ooo that makes me want to move it up my list to get to sooner
I'm so jealous of all the books!!!

Great haul! AND you are so close to 7k! congrats!
Thank you!! It's totally bananas to me 😅

Amazing 👏🏻

@TheHavazoe that makes me so happy to hear!! Maybe judging a book by it's title will be my new thing 😂
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
I don’t read a lot of historical fantasy but I loved Half a Soul
I don't read a ton either, but it just hits sometimes 🙌🏻
