Liverpool have again been linked with a move for Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio, but is there any truth to the reports?
Reds reporter David Lynch is here to provide the lowdown on that rumour and address a busy week for the club in the transfer window.
That includes exclusive insight into the fee that will be demanded for Caoimhin Kelleher, an update on a surprising contract offer for Adrian, and news that 10 players will be departing this summer.
There is also an update on Liverpool's pursuit of a defensive midfielder and what that means for Wataru Endo.

Great update. No filler or silly rumor-mongering. It makes sense that Liverpool are doing a clear-out, especially of academy players who will not make it in the first team. As for the DM, I prefer keeping Endo and waiting for high-calibre candidates to emerge. It makes no sense to spend big on a second-rate DM. It has to be someone who will be transformative. We already have Endo and Bajcetic. Bajcetic might very well be the new Caicedo, in which case we would be stupid to bring someone in who will just stand in his way. Adrian, as 3rd keeper, is basically a trainer. It makes good sense to keep him around when we aren't sure about our number 1 and number 2 goalkeepers. I wish we could keep Kelleher at the club for one more year, then move him to number 1, but he is probably looking for a more certain offer than that. I love Alisson---he has given us a lot---but he looks bound to go to Saudi this year or next for a big payday. We need to get a transfer fee for him if he goes.
I think you’re right on total numbers. The most we could sign without selling anyone would be 2. Anymore will be one in one out. In my opinion.

@@GravelordWrust pitaluga isn't ready to be a number 2 for LFC. Yes obviously we can can a new goalie but Adrian also takes up a non home-grown position and if we were to buy a new goalie he could also be a non home grown player because it would be cheaper than buying a homegrown goalie

Maybe some discussions about the academy and its influence on our transfer business in future videos. Last year Bradley and Quansah internally were viewed as such quality that the club could be less active in the market
I feel like players like Beck, Morton, Bajcetic, Koumas, Clark and Danns could all be really key players in terms of determining what business we do.. beck for instance could render Tsimikas redundant
We need a DM David. A solid #6. An enforcer. Yes we have a lot of midfielders, but injuries come into play. As a Liverpool fan, you understand that more than most. Rodri and Rice are huge difference makers for their teams. And it’s not a coincidence Klopp tried to sign Caceido.
Rice played as a 6 for less than a fifth of the season, and Arsenal were a much better team when he played as an 8. I think the bigger difference is the physicality of the midfield, some height and running power would go a long way.
I agree a peak-age, world-class six is needed. But the big question is whether there is one available. It’s a limited market. And Rice is not a six for Arsenal, so that shows you how few of them are around!
@@davidlynchlfc Rice does play the 6 in a double-pivot for Arsenal, particularly in the big games. Whether it’s Partey or Jorginho next to him - or Odegaard if they’re trying to be more offensive. But the guy is everywhere, trying to disrupt play. Endo is great as a backup option. I would personally go for Cheick Doucouré at Crystal Palace. I think he could develop in the same way Fabinho did.
Regarding D.M they will want to se how Stephan Bajcetic performs first before bringing one in with Endo being competition for that spot
I remember watching Adrian playing for us and playing bloody well ...some years ago...he had the unfortunate game for us that cost us (cannot remember which match) ....and has been hidden from view ever since . I feel for the fellow ...seem to remember he was a free transfer and flavour of the moment at that time...with Kellerher most likely to be leaving....makes semse for Adrian to see out his playing days with us ....unless we sign a Worldie like Kellerher !! Honestly? If Liverpool are potentially losing their backup keeper, naturally it makes sense to keep their third choice keeper. It's not even worth discussing, it's so obvious

30m for Kelleher would be a bargain and he could push towards 40. And will be missed. Buy back clause would be needed for the future.

My concern with only having two "oversea" player spots (if we keep Adrian) is what happens if Kelleher goes. Can we find a back-up goalkeeper who is homegrown? If we have to sign an oversea keeper we are back to having a single "oversea" player spot left.

We do have the numbers in midfield but we don’t have the right make up of players. Hence why we need a proper DM.

That’s the problem isn’t it. There doesn’t seem like much out there. I just have to hope the scouts see something in someone to make them so worth bringing in. Because I don’t think we can win the league with our midfield as it stands.
I hope Adrian is only on £2.50 a week, he is a waste of money and takes up a foreign players space

Totally agree we have a lot of midfielders but think the profiles of those players are a bit off if Slot plays with 2 midfielders. The players who could play in a pivot seem to be endo, mac, curtis and steffy b. I don't think grav is good enough defensively to play in a 2 and playing dom there would be a waste of his talent.
I don't think that group of 4 is good enough to compete at the top over a whole season. Tough decisions will have to be made but i think a move has to be made for a dm. Will be really interesting how hughes and edwards play this summer
Klopp made the mistake of playing Mac to far back, in the dm role when hes better more forward alongside Szoboslaj, Endo needs some competition in his position, Bajetic cant cut it hes too young

David, I cannot understand your logic when it comes to the DM position. If a specialist DM is not a priority for LFC then why the hell did LFC bid 115m for Caicedio last season? I think you are getting confused between quantity and quality. Endo is decent but he is not one of the best DM's and he is 30 plus. Macaillister can do a job in that position but that is not why he was bought. City have Rodri and Arsenal have got Rice they are both specialist DM's in their prime. We need a tip-top DM for the EPL and UCL next season or it will just be another wasted season. So if LFC are serious then there should be a serious bid for someone like David Luiz, Joao Neves, or even go back in for for Tchouaméni. Its a disgrace that we still have not replaced Fabinho
It’s a mix of availability (of the right player, not just any DM, as they have one) plus the numbers they already have in midfield. Something has to give for that to become the priority position; I don’t say it won’t, anything can happen. But I wouldn’t go into this window expecting big money on a DM as things stand. Even if I agree it’s a need - and the club do as they have been scouring that market for a long time. One thing I would also add is that people presume Rice plays in DM for Arsenal but that wasn’t the case past the first third of the season. He’s been in the No.8 role for them.

Much easier negotiation mate! Adrian will be on the same terms and just a year extension so all very straightforward.
@@davidlynchlfc According to Sportrac, Adrian earns over 50K a week. For a 3rd choice keeper that's difficult to justify considering Kelleher only earns in the region of 6K a week. Do you think Kelleher would stay if Liverpool offered similar terms as Adrian?
I’d say Sportrac isn’t always a good source for these things.

I think FSG should give Slot the freedom to get the right players we might nit need too many players but we need the right kind of players.

I’ll ask you a question back. Why would an experienced premier league goalkeeper who is a good professional and with good personality, who is doing his coaching badges be of use to Liverpool?
Do you think maybe he is a good influence on the up and coming goalkeepers? Do you think he can pass on some of the knowledge required to be a top level goalkeeper? Do you think he is useful for team training sessions when a goalkeeper is needed? Do you think in dire circumstances and our main 2 goalkeepers are out injured, that he may be able to deal with the pressure better than our under 12’s goalkeeper? 🤔
