SOOOOO glad I didn't pick up Deadly Education the other day. I saw it and was curious by the blurb, but as I always do (and wholly recommend to people) I opened it up to read a couple random paragraphs to see whether or not I liked the author's voice. Oh, sweet Mother Mary. The paragraph I read had "and" in place of commas and periods. It was the longest run-on sentence with "and" EVERYWHERE! That alone made me put it back despite how cool the world sounded. Glad I dodged a proper bullet.
TFS This vlog because it was so refreshing. I agree with you about Emily Henry whose work I haven't read, thus far but feel obligated as a Booktuber. Happy Place and Beach Read are on my list. I want to read Vitro Nostra (sp?). I was talking through the screen telling you not to pick up that book after you read the first two. I wanted you to read one of the books with the screaming white lettering because they looked good. Subbed

Doesn’t your apartment building have an air conditioning units in at least one room? In the states here it’s required. If you don’t girl I feel you. Like dude we need to send cool vibes over this summer! I struggle to regulate my body temperature due to my lupus so even with an air conditioner I struggle during the summer. I went through a bad reading slump in April and into may. Hoping to get back on track and start with “The Nightmare man.” It seems like a good short horror/thriller. We shall see. I see you got a new sweet coffee maker! Glad your loving ur dark academia era. ❤
I’ve lived in the States my whole life and never had an apartment with AC in any room. (And I’m…old. So I’ve had a lot of apartments. 😂) If that’s required, then it’s a local/municipal requirement.
Most people in Canada don’t have A/C. Rental buildings certainly don’t. I’ve found that a lot of apartments run hot, especially depending which direction your windows face.

Oh a bummer you dnfd Deadly Education! I myself ended up liking it and finding the world and school really interesting as I did the characters. But really only halfway in. I disliked the into dumps and was very frustrated with the main character's behaviour. But the plot honestly gets quite a bit more interesting in the second half and your understanding of the characters really grows and for me totally changed how I felt or rather sympathised with the characters. I can also tell that there is so much more beyond Orion than we can see yet. And where the story left off I see a lot of potential😅

Naomi Novik and I have a love/hate relationship. I don’t love what she writes but I don’t hate it entirely either. I’ve read 4 of her books and I DNFed one of them. They’re ok. Not the greatest but ok. I don’t think I’ll be reading any more of her books.
