Jay & Amber, You’ll Love Carly’s “Haven’t Got Time For The Pain”, “Nobody Does It Better” and “The Right Thing To Do”!!!! A great singer/songwriter as you've seen with her 3 songs so far. I thought you liked “That's The Way I Always Heard It Should Be” even better than "You're So Vain". edit- guest artist David Sanborn- alto saxophone!
I saw one of her rare concerts at The Orpheum in Boston in 2005. Her dog ran out on stage while she sang "Haven't Got Time For The Pain". She picked up the pooch and sang while holding the dog.
Whereas, I had to do security for the refunds to a concert she was supposed to have, but cancelled, due to her issues about performing. I never stopped loving her music, though.
Great reaction! One thing I absolutely love about Carly's music, is that you can easily understand nearly every word she sings! Her music is often great poetry.
Carly has SO many great songs--definitely worthy of a deep dive! Try checking out "Anticipation," "Give Me All Night," "Haven't Got Time For The Pain," "Coming Around Again," or "All I Want Is You" next.
I totally agree with the subscriber below! My favorite Carly song is her duet with her then husband James Taylor based on the nursery rhyme MOCKING BIRD! So much fun, very cool.
Carly Simon is one classy lady, and she has some fantastic vocals. She was very creative in various styles such as pop, rock, folk, and soft rock. I love this acoustic performance, here's the link "Carly Simon - Anticipation - 1971" (Live) Really nice reaction thanx Jay & Amber
That bass line is just killer funky. Always loved this one. You can almost feel the fear of losing him in her voice. On a completely different note, I think you've created a great new band name - Unexpected Funk.
You should consider reacting to her song ‘Let the River Run’.. she won an Oscar for it… theme from the 80s moving Working Girl; it’s really good!! That said - you really can’t go wrong with any of her music; spent my 20s listening to her…. She’s AMAZING!!!!
I came here to say the same about both Let the River Run and Working Girl, but I wasn't anticipating (see what I did there? 😊) mentioning Romy and Michelle, but WOW is that a great suggestion too!!!
Should mention that this one was an all star line up! Then hubby James Taylor on backing, David Sanborn on sax, and produced by the genius Arif Mardin (of Bee Gees fame), you can’t go wrong.
It's amazing how an artist can accompany you all your life. Carly Simon is like that to me. There were always songs to go with my feelings, my moods. She is an amazing artist. She's very professional in her work - lyrics, music, the people who join her in her songs. She's one of my favorites, she's part of the soundtrack of my life.
The live video is fun fun fun. Also featuring a great sax. The way barefoot Carly bounds onto the stage dancing with James, you'd never guess she has stage fright
Whoever arranged this for Carly was genius. The real funk groove of the rhythm guitar 🎸, bass guitar, percussion and drums was SMOKING HOT towards the end. And there's even strings in there too, a remnant of disco.
Love this one, always have! I still would love for you to do Carly Simon and her then husband James Taylor doing Mockingbird...especially the live one.
yay! more carly with the rob squad! thank you guys. did you know carly won an oscar for her song "let the river run"that she wrote and perform for working girl movie. she also got listed her song "nobody does it better" as one of the best james bond movie songs of all time. i think you definetely enjoy both of those songs, they are awesome.
Premier Jazz saxophonist, David Sanborn tears it up on this tune written by Carly and Michael McDonald. Give a listen also to Carly's "Stuff that Dreams Are Made Of"
Share the End, by Carly Simon, is my #1 favorite song of all time. She has about forty songs I like. Check out - Forever My Love, The Loves Still Growing, I've Got to have you, Slave, Waterfall, and Another Door.
Been playing her songs non stop lately!! This one hits home because of last weekend driving to try to see the northern lights! Didn't see them~~but jammed to this song with the wind in my hair on country backroads! Such a special time with newness in my life!! Thank you!!
`A tie-in - Carly Simon sings a gorgeous song, Let the River Run, for a movie called Working Girl which is a very 80's style movie - with Harrison Ford and Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver - a fun rom-com you could react to both at the same time - song and movie.
Carly Simon not only married James Taylor, but she is also the daughter of 1/2 of the owning partners of Simon & Shuster, the publishing company, so she was brought up very well-to-do and kind of bucked that trend when she went into music. She was a "rebel WITH a cause".
You can always tell when music was produced in the 70's, it will often have a smooth, jazzy sound! Carly Simon is one of those artists that crosses over to all types of music fans! You have to do her James Bond theme song, "Nobody Does It Better"!
What great memories listening to her. We were allowed to listen to music in our typing glass. She was always on in class! Her and Carole king! I swear I know the words to every one of her songs!! Can never go wrong with Carly Simon!!
IMHO, one of Carly's very best, and most profound, songs is "In a Small Moment," from that same album (BOYS IN THE TREES). Hope you can react to it someday.
This song was written by Carly and Michael McDonald from The Doobie Brothers. Originally recorded by The Doobie Brothers. I saw them perform this live a few weeks ago at Bluesfest in Melbourne Australia. Absolutely fantastic.
She was a top of the chart artist! She has a nice catalog to go down and check out. I still insist, that the 70s had the greatest music from all genres… So much to listen to from so many
Carly Simon has been a fav of mine for decades! Check out Life is Eternal from the Have You Seen Me Lately album. Fire! Also her duet of Mockingbird (live) with her then husband James Taylor is THE definitive version of that song! Dynamite! And she's drop dead gorgeous too!
I love this song, and I also love the version by The Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald on lead. With Michael's voice and the music, you get a stronger funky R&B sound. The pleading in both of their voices gets to me. Carly's version makes feel a little like crying as it seems like she could cry, and Michael's version makes me feel more toward frustration as he sounds frustrated. I think both versions are really good. 🙂 A cartoon version of Carly appears on an episode of "Bob's Burgers"for about a minute. Yes, she sings. The episode is "Work Hard or Dying Trying, Girl". The title and episode are a blend of the movie titles "Die Hard" and "Working Girl".
This is my favorite song of Carly's! She is just SO on point! Love that soul feel she gives it and ya gotta love Michael McDonald's flavor to it too! ❤
"You don't have to prove to me you're beautiful to strangers. I've got loving eyes of my own." That's a damn good lyric!
YES!!!
I was in college in the summer of 1978. My clock radio would wake me and everyday I would heard "Baker Street" and "You Belong To Me".
The Summer of 78 is my most memorable. A lot of my favorite songs that year.
My top 2 favourite songs from 1978 and I wasn't even born then 😂
" Nobody Does It Better " From the James Bond Movie " The Spy Who Loved Me".
My favorite from Carly is Thats The Way I Always Heard It Should Be ...Carly is an incredible singer/songwriter with so many beautiful songs.
They’ve done that one.
Mine too. The lyrics cut so deep. The story telling! The emotion! She’s incredible.
Carly Simon is great. A fun little number is her and James Taylor singing a live duet "Mockingbird."
Then do the live version of Stream Roller by James Taylor.
I love that video
Love that duo they do, especially their live performance!
Mockingbird would be smart. Two amazing singers who used to share a coffee pot. Then 20 more JT songs including: The Secret of Life and many more.
You will notice in that video, George Harrison & Art Garfunkel are in the background talking.
When you're asked to sing the theme song of a James Bond movie you're big. Carly sang Nobody Does It Better in The Spy Who Loved Me.
Best Bond song ever
@@007ndc I agree. "Live And Let Die."
Michael McDonald’s version is better
Technically The Doobie Brothers' version. But agreed.
Oh absolutely love this song from Carly Simon❤❤
Carly was a force to be reckoned with back in the seventies ! Even my parents loved her especially my mother !
Love me some Carly!!
The great David Sanborn was practically her designated sax player in those days. She has always made great music.
She's got some great tunes CLASSY ALL THE WAY
Jay & Amber, You’ll Love Carly’s “Haven’t Got Time For The Pain”, “Nobody Does It Better” and “The Right Thing To Do”!!!! A great singer/songwriter as you've seen with her 3 songs so far. I thought you liked “That's The Way I Always Heard It Should Be” even better than "You're So Vain".
edit- guest artist David Sanborn- alto saxophone!
Love David Sanborn!
Excellent recommendations! I'd love to see them react to all of these! :D
@@xzonia1 thank you!
"Coming around again" ❤
Some nice recommendations
Yes! Carly! Just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this past year Class of 2022.
She wrote this one with Michael McDonald! I believe he did the melody. Check out his version, too! ❤😊
Yes, both great versions! Michael probably brought the funkiness to this song, as usual!
I keep...forgettin' ... Michael cowrote this song.... ;)
Micheal did this song with the Doobie Brothers
@@barryserpa5174 definitely need to react the Doobies version with Michael McDonald
Yes, I agree you need to do The Doobie Bros. version also. One is as great as the other.
I saw one of her rare concerts at The Orpheum in Boston in 2005. Her dog ran out on stage while she sang "Haven't Got Time For The Pain". She picked up the pooch and sang while holding the dog.
that surprise concert in Grand Central Station was something special as well (1995).
Whereas, I had to do security for the refunds to a concert she was supposed to have, but cancelled, due to her issues about performing. I never stopped loving her music, though.
@@CabinFever52she has chronic stage fright
“Anticipation” by Carly is a good one.❤️
Yes. And see if you know it from some old commercials.
... and from the old SNL skit, "Swill"
Carly also sang the theme song from Working Girl with Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, and Melanie Griffith...a fun movie and great song.😄
“Coming around again” is a good song to react to
Such a classic 70s bass line. The horns. The unmistakable Carly Simon vocals. ❤
Carly was married to James Taylor. Check out their performances at the 1979 no nukes concert central Park in New York city
Great reaction! One thing I absolutely love about Carly's music, is that you can easily understand nearly every word she sings! Her music is often great poetry.
Carly Simon’s music is like fine wine. It just gets better with age. Keep up the great work, Jay & Amber. Peace & love.
Carly has SO many great songs--definitely worthy of a deep dive! Try checking out "Anticipation," "Give Me All Night," "Haven't Got Time For The Pain," "Coming Around Again," or "All I Want Is You" next.
"The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of" is a good one by Carly Simon.
Her father was Simon of Simon & Schuster publishers. And she was married to James Taylor.
Carly Simon "COMING AROUND AGAIN" ❤
I totally agree with the subscriber below! My favorite Carly song is her duet with her then husband James Taylor based on the nursery rhyme MOCKING BIRD! So much fun, very cool.
"Nobody Does It Better" her song for the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me," think you guys would love that one, maybe her best.
You would love Mockingbird, her duet with James Taylor.
Carly is an awesome singer songwriter, another legend from the 70’s
You must watch Carly with husband at the time, James Taylor singing Mockingbird. So fun! Love from Green Country, Oklahoma 🤍

They should see the movie too, one of the few chick flicks that I like (along with Romey and Michelle's High School Reunion)
I do like Chick Flicks, and Working Girl is in my top 5.
I came here to say the same about both Let the River Run and Working Girl, but I wasn't anticipating (see what I did there? 😊) mentioning Romy and Michelle, but WOW is that a great suggestion too!!!
I want to add to this: You should do a movie reaction to "Working Girl". Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, and Melanie Griffith!
@@joemachine4714"Let's fold scarves!"
Same concert with wind blowing, the song "nobody does it better"
Such a melodic song from Carly, up there with 'Coming round again'-thanks Rob Squad.
"Coming around again" is my favorite!!! ❤
Original video is great. ❤
One of my favorite songs from her.
You should watch her do it live, "YOU BELONG TO ME---CARLY SIMON" 3 min 54 sec.
Nobody Does it Better is a must. Cool string arrangements.
Carly Simon is a classic! Love her alto voice!

The live video is fun fun fun. Also featuring a great sax. The way barefoot Carly bounds onto the stage dancing with James, you'd never guess she has stage fright
Have you heard LET THE RIVER RUN, it's played at the end of the movie Working GIRL. Which BTW is a really good movie w Harrison Ford.

She had a big come back in the 80s - check out "coming around again" or , all I want is you"
"haven't got time for the pain"
"you belong to me"
"you're so vain"
all great songs

carly simon.
Her live concert outside at Martha's Vineyard is pure gold, esp " It's the Stuff That Dreams are Made Of"..
Love it!!! Such a great singer. When I hear Annie Lennox it always reminds me of Carly Simon. Same vocal style. The song has such a great vibe.
Great selection guys. Next up, how about "Anticipation" or "Haven't Got Time for the Pain." Everything Carly did was incredible back in the day.
Also she had a hit song theme the spy who loved me movie " Nobody Does It Better" 007 James bond , Rodger Moore 😉
ANTICIPATION is great. She wrote this one while waiting for Cat Stevens to pick her up for their first date. It was later used in a ketchup commercial
Another great overlooked song from her is “Right Thing To Do”
My favorite Carly Simon song, and that is saying a lot because, she is so talented!❤
Pure Fire, exactly! NOBODY DOES IT BETTER is another Must Hear!

Jordan’s “Hey” when he hears a funky beat, and Amber’s smile when she hears the horns, make me smile too.
I was obsessed with this tune as a kid ❤ it’s just perfect. What a vibe
Another amazing track, I've Got To Have You.

Beautiful and a great singer, like Linda Ronstadt
Haunting lyrics, her very best single IMO, well done Ms. Simon!
The opening line sets everything up. It's so real. "Why'd you tell me this?"
