My first thought looking at this video is.... Before I would ever lower any vehicle I need to know it will stop when I hit the brakes. I would get rid of those drum brakes and install disc. I totaled a Road Runner when I was a teen that had drum brakes because I couldn't get it to stop. Safety first!!!!!
ALWAYS check that both springs are the same height Two of the sets I have received were not the same One was one inch shorter in both sets This is a HUGE problem if true reassembly is complete and the truck leans to one side DOUBLE CHECK DOUBLE CHECK
I have shorter springs in my 68 C10 with about 2” of clearance left before the lower arm touches the top, but there’s still at least 1-2” of gap above the tire and fender. I’m on 20’s with low-profile tires. What can I do to bring it down without bottoming out?
Excuse my ignorance., I'm new to these projects, I just bought a 71 c10 and thinking about lowering it,, I've been watching videos and I think I could do it myself, just one question, I see on the market 2.5/4, 3/5, 4/5 front-rear lowering kits, how the front-rear numbers work? Which kit drops the most?
Hey man how did the truck end up riding with just the lowering springs up front? I have a 68 GMC and I’m thinking about doing a flip kit and 3” drop springs to save money for now and do drop spindles later.
How did it drive with the 3/5 drop on just springs/shocks? I was thinking about doing that to my 71 but now I'm leaning towards a 2/4 drop just so I'll still have some suspension travel.
@@paulkc10 finally started on lowering my 71! Had to cut the rear springs out, then needed new hardware, then realized my exhaust would interfere with the rear axle so I had to re-route that. Then I replaced ever single piece of brake hardware in the back. Then got even more sidetracked and started painting the frame. Rear is now done though and onto the front!
Looking good! I have a 67 c10 stock height and am going to lower it soon. Heard if you went lower than 2 in drop " springs" on the front it would mess up your alignment to much ?? That's why most put drop spindle then lowering spring. Any problems with the 3 drop when you got it aligned? Thanks
Yea you need to add spacers to the control arm. Shims will fall out. There are nice kits for around $50. I haven’t gotten an alignment yet bc I’m overhauling all the bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends.
Hey just wondering got a 69 C10 with 2/3 inch lowering kit on the front and 4/5 inch on the rear what shocks did you go with/ where did you get them. Can't find anything on them wondering what length we need to go with
That’s what I’m told. When you first put them in it’s fine but once you get an alignment done the shims will likely come out. Or at least are “at risk” of falling out.
You don't even need to touch the ball joints, unbolt the u-bolts at the inner lower control arm and put a floor jack under the shaft. Really easy.
Made it look easy. Hopefully I can get to my 71 by the end of this month.
Just have to get out there and do it
Great job man! Thanks for sharing. I'm ready to drop my 67 C10 thanks to your video and me getting all my parts in.
Kill the music tough to watch!
Looks awesome brother ! Gotta start working on mine !
Automatic like for cracking open a beer!
Good idea on the ratchet strap!
Looks great. This is the drop I want.

This is happening very soon 👍🏼
Looks Great! Good Job! Love those Trucks!
That new spring looked like it would be loose between the a arms. I assume it was a snug fit.
Sure was
about to say the same thing, with some bigger wheels it'll look amazing, beautiful truck btw

I know I am late on the chain, I would take older springs and cut out a 1/2 a coil off to see how it lowers it.
Lowering springs are cheap. Doesn’t make sense to have clapped out springs with crazy spring rates.
Are they just regular shocks or lowered shocks?

Did you use the original mounting hardware where the shock connects to the control arm or did you buy new ones?
The shocks came with new hardware
@@paulkc10 ok because mine only came with hardware for the top mount.

Anything is better than 50+ year old springs but it rode great
Good job Bro. I saved some money whit this video.👍
Better video iwithout the music. I would replace brake line. Stretch it pretty good
Yep, this video is a couple years old now. It’s all been replaced.
@@paulkc10 check out my 67 C10 videos.

Drove great. Anything was better than 50 year old springs and clapped out shocks but it felt nice and stable
paulk_c10 you ever hit your frame or bump stops with the 3/5?
Nope. I’ve since put in c notches and lowered another 2”

Thank you
time for new bushings and joints
No doubt, they’re toast. I’ll replace em when I do the spindles
Sweet! !

paulk_c10 awesome once you find a kit your happy with it you dont mind let me know and I'll take a look at it and purchase one.
Why not drop spindles?
When you did this 3in drop did you use OEM spindles?
Yes. Added drop spindles later.
Any issues with not having a c-notch kit on the rear?
With just the drop coils - no. I do end up lowering it further and adding c-notches
Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! I appreciate your experience on this as I'm just diving into it with my 1970 C10 long-bed.
what brand springs did you go with? I am looking into the 3/5" springs, as well as the 2.5" front spindles, and 2" blocks to complete the 5.5/7
I got them from Brothers
paulk_c10 that's where I was looking at getting them from.
Hey just wondering got a 69 C10 with 2/3 inch lowering kit on the front and 4/5 inch on the rear what shocks did you go with/ where did you get them. Can't find anything on them wondering what length we need to go with
CPP nitro drop shocks. Can get them from pretty much anywhere but I got mine from Summit Racing
@@paulkc10 thanks is it just the drop shocks or are they specific to the drop that we have or do you have to measure.
No specific height. If you filter it by your truck and find drop shocks, they’ll work
Sweet hat. Where’d you pick that one up at?
Check out @rpm_graphics on Instagram
Hey Paul how much did you drop it ? And did your alignment go way bad after the drop?
3/5 at first, didn’t mess the alignment up too bad. It’s 5/7 now with all new control arms and haven’t aligned it yet
Wow that’s cool
so the upper control shims will fall out if I don't do anything other then 3 in drop springs and shocks?
That’s what I’m told. When you first put them in it’s fine but once you get an alignment done the shims will likely come out. Or at least are “at risk” of falling out.
Love it! Looks good :)
Where you bought those coil springs and shoks
Does it bounce alot infront?
No, it’s a nice ride
What size tires? Looks good how it is but I understand wanting it lower lol
I have different wheels going on soonish
I know I was wondering what you are running on the rallies
I can never understand why people want to add music to videos like this
Was told that all you had to do was cut your original springs
You can do that if you feel like bottoming out all the time
I put some 3 inch springs on my 2001 blazer an honestly it didn't lower it as much....i wonder if its Because i kept stock shocks. ..
Probably bc your springs were worn out
The exhaust in the bed don't look so good. But all the other things you did looks great.
Music is almost never good in these types of vids
Not bad work
Didn’t need orchestra
To much music
That music sucks shit but I like the pickup
Turn off the darn music. Or way down.
Shit boy can’t here you too much music
Can't hear shit for all that disco music.
