    Congrats. You try and do an even better job on books for a friend than you probably even do for yourself. Unselfish act for sure. He's going to be so pleased.

    In the early 90's I remember the creators of Brotherman on a late night show talking about comics. I don't remember the show but it was one of those sit down interview shows on after the late late shows like Costas or Byron Allen. I didn't see much comic related television back then so "Brotherman" always stuck with me. I kept my eye out for it but comic shops near me didn't exactly carry obscure indies.

    I just received my 22 book submission and 2 slabs were scuffed and 1 had a broken bottom corner.. NO QUALITY CONTROL AT ALL WITH CGC

    Regarding Quality Control, I've also noticed instances of receiving slabs with scuffs and scrapes. The most problematic ones were found on the inside of the hard case. How does one manage to scuff or scrape the inside of the case? A friend of mine received gold foil Batman slabs with fingerprints on the comic's foil. Personally, I will not be submitting comics to CGC for the time being.

    I don’t submit to CGC anymore. Mostly due to dirty and/or scuffed slabs.
    However, now with their recent scandal coupled with grades that are 2 off about 5% of the time I’m done. I now treat CGC like PGX. I just assume something is going to be wrong and I offer 50% of their worth. Needless to say I don’t get many responses to my offers.
    I can confirm that the cold right now does create a lot of issues with shipping. I work for one the biggest auction houses of collectibles in the country. If they aren’t keeping their comics and cards heated while transporting don’t buy them! Please note that I’m strictly speaking of 4 figure books. I’ve seen 40k of books go out and arrive worth 20k. Not once but twice!

    The spotting could be caused by temperature changes/humidity. So it might also cause that haze inside the case.

    It’s contact scuffing! That’s why you see what you see on slabs.

    Is it different when cleaning and pressing a magazine size book?

    • @ImproveCollectingComics
      @ImproveCollectingComics  9 месяцев назад

      For these not really, just awkward to make the sandwich materials to put inside the book for pressing.

    The spots on the bags are from the bubble wrap being pressed hard against the bags...its a non issue.

    CGC stresses quantity over quality. Unfortunately, that probably won't change until CUSTOMERS STOP ACCEPTING THEIR POOR QUALITY AND STOP SENDING THEM COMICS!

    Stop using CGC. I've never gotten a bad CBCS slab. CGC will not change until they really have to compete.

      Money. That's the biggest reason I can think of.

    • @ImproveCollectingComics
      @ImproveCollectingComics  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah.. it's the sale price, unfortunately.. but once people will buy CBCS or some other companies slabs for 90% of CGC value, that could be a tipping point and CGC would lose a ton of market share

      @@ImproveCollectingComicscause all your slabs are CGC and if you like most collectors having a CBCS sprinkled within your CGC is going to bother you biggie
