Got this reel. Just brought it out for the first time the other day. This thing casts a mile. One thing I noticed tho if anyone else has is the drag. I feel like one click of the drag goes from super loose to super tight or vice versa. May be an issue when fighting a fish if you play with the drag

That’s interested Keith. I am going to pass this comment along to the Okuma team.

Is there any sealing from water and sand intrusion?
Can it be dunked without damage?

Thank you for watching. I’d honestly take a look at the Rockaway lineup by Okuma. The 6k and 8K matched with the Rockaway HD rods

Davey I use two 8K and there is definitely spool wobbly under load. Back to the 12000 how dose this compare in size to
8K would you say it is a larger reel and possibly heavier. What are the dimensions of the spools?
Looking forward to to getting one when available in this neck of the woods.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the support.
On the 12k, this reel vs the surf 8K, this bigger reel is almost 8 ounces lighter. It has the new Flite spool and shaft so it should be extra stable.
This 12k does have more capacity and is rated 835 yards of 12lb vs 770yds of 12lb on the 8K. Spool is bigger, but I don’t have the dimensions.
Check out @beachbomberfishing. He got an early one and has been fishing it quite a bit and really likes it.

Hi Josh. That is a great question for @beachbomberfishing. He’s been fishing these hard for a couple of months out in Texas.

I hadn’t heard about that issue on the Surf 8k
