Chicago Made Punk and I discuss his legendary promo, how he feels thngs went after, working with John Cena, coming up in WWE, smart fans, working with Jericho, and so much more.
That's why I always listen to his interview because it's very interesting to know about wrestling from him. One of the things that I love about punk is that he speaks up his mind and tells the truth , we have seen this rare from other wrestlers
This was so fascinating to listen to. I really do wish it was longer. I could probably listen to a 2 hour podcast like this and not be bored. Punk, oddly, has a really soothing voice. Thank you for this.
Yet this is a guy who is being used as a mid-carder, who's 435 day title reign only had him main event a PPV twice because of the bastardisation of John Cena being shoved down you're throat every week. How is this guy and Daniel Bryan not going to headline WrestleMania ? WWE = Worlds Wrestling Enemy.
+douglas funny i don't think punk hates the rock i feel like he thinks its just bullshit that the rock can disappear for years and come back for one night and be handed a title and a main event
Awesome, awesome analogy. That's why I love CM Punk. John Cena, straight laced, all American, boy scout = Superman. CM Punk, morally ambiguous yet somehow still seems to follow a strict moral code, marches to the beat of his own drum = Batman.
Cm punk is still the best in the world at what he does no matter if he says crap about the wwe or he starts ufc and does something that he loves which is working with ufc and not wwe
punk is right wrestlers are too afraid to make their own characters what made the old guys (HBK, HHH; taker, hogan, flair, austin...) legendary was bcus they ran with their characters and made them better not be like todays wrestlers and say what people put in front of their face.
I don't think it's because the wrestlers think they don't have a choice or they're scared to take that risk or anything like that. I think it's just because they don't really want to do it. Unlike Punk, who is a passionate hard worker, he really goes for that extra mile. Wrestlers (or rather, superstars I should say) in the WWE today are already satisfied with what they have got or have gotten themselves into. In a seperate interview Austin said wrestlers in the wwe today are just satisfied with being on TV, unlike Punk. Or even Cena honestly. He also said "hell for me, being on TV, is being on TV" nothing more, and I really agreed with him on that. But you got guys like Tyson Kidd who is a workhorse, but just happens to be not too good on the mic, and are scared to make a mistake. People like him make it up for himself and the fans by doing what they do best and that's doing what they do in the ring
This by far is one of the best interviews I have ever watch. So real and honest. And CM Punk is such a humble and real person. And as much crap as Cena gets from fans, the fact that he realized that it was time to let someone else, Punk, to be "The Man", you can't help but respect that!
He's very sarcastic. He does believe he is the best overall package in WWE today which I agree with. When the era passes he'll be considered great. No one considered Austin the greatest of all time until he left as well. (Not claiming Austin actually is but a lot of people do)
I love that Punk is an old school fan. Some of his matches he throws in tributes to legends like the Macho Man (especially after his passing). There was a tag match with him and Cena vs two guys, and it was so old school it felt like I was back in the 80's watching the Hart Foundation vs The Rockers. His love and respect for the business shows through the screen, and it's great to hear him talk about it. Great interview, as others have said it was too short!
He handles himself so well. You can tell he's not fake like even in a lot of the shoot promos people are afraid to say certain things. He's like "Okay, whatcha got for me?"
Thanks for asking such great questions. I love Punk, as you can tell he's still a fan, and he's very real (and I am also a comic geek). I respect the hell out of him, and you did a great job with this interview.
The Daniel Bryan storyline is what the Summer of Punk could have been. but in a way, that CM Punk shoot opened doors for a lot a dominoes to fall in places. and 2 & half years later, it definitely changed WWE for the better. Instead of Sheamus/Cena...we are seeing Rollin/Bryan headline RAW. and that's an accomplishment in itself
one of the things i like the most is the fact that john cena really has stepped down since the summer and has let cm punk start to become the new face of the company
Punk is my kind of wrestler interns of both style and his take on the business. His comment about loving the old UWF & NWA, yet having a (classic) ECW quality (love his ROH work too). He truly is the "Batman" wrestler in every sense. He brings an honesty about wrestling beyond the borders of WWE (loved when he gave a shout out to Colt Cabana in the pipe bomb promo)
loved this video it's good to see punk being interviewed he's very intelligent and knowlegeble about the business that's rare most other interviews seem scripted or phony but not punk's there always 100 % real
thats because they wanted him to have a good future storyline like he is having now, THe Shield, longest reigning WWE Champion of the modern era, undefeated for 10+ consecutive ppvs in a row. CM Punk right now is the Best in the World.
Amazing interview and I've been saying this for the longest but WWE needs Rosenberg working for them, Creative, Backstage interviewer, commentator, manager... anything he'd be great and Punk seems like a down to earth real guy
Great interview!! He's right, most of us hate something from the word go, and 3 weeks later when it really starts to pay off we're all over it with praise. Welcome to the wacky world of pro wrestling smart fandom. Me, I like a slow burn, as long as there is a big pay-off. Rosenberg hit the nail on the head with Mark Henry, what a great 2011 for the WSM! Great Batman/Superman comparison. Love CM Punk!
This is my take on this I know this was last year but they should have not brought back the WWE Championship when CM Punk left but put actual meaning back in the world title. Then bring him back and go on forward from there
Hell, one kid was helping me stock the shelves, even though he didn't have to. I said to myself, "That is one cool ass little kid", then I see him a few minutes later and I notice he's wearing a CM Punk shirt. I smiled to myself.
Reminds me of Edge. For long periods of time it didn't matter whether or not he was heel or face. A lot of people hated him and a lot of people liked him.
BEST IN THE WORLD! Wrestling is cool again BECAUSE of this guy! Just don't turn him into a heel too quickly. The fans are cheering and they're saying they're booing him; a Semiotic Conundrum. It's just crazy. But,THANK YOU Punk.
Damn good interview. It felt like a lot of questions that were asked were ones a lot of us would wanna say to him. Luckily he was honest about all of it and it was awesome.
"You put the two guys together, the fans has to choose one, and especially the little kids, and the little kids are gonna choose John, 100 percent". You know us too well punk.
I knew Punk was a "comic book nerd" from the first time I saw his enterance when he knelt down, looked at his imaginary watch and yelled "IT'S COLBBERIN TIME" to the crowd. I was like YES, finally a wrestlers that goes against the grain that I can get support. Undertaker was and will always be my #1. But Punk is definatly on the same bar Taker and Punk my 2 #1's.
Brilliant insightful interview. CM Punk looked knackered tho lol Really like to c CM Punk v Daniel Bryan 60 min iron man match at Wrestlemania 28, but I doubt we'll c a 60min match again.
One of the big problems Punk refers to in that the average Smark doesn't let storylines play out, is exactly what WWE has trouble with. They know the average 12 year old fan won't remember what happened two RAWs ago, so they have to end things quickly. I think that's the main issue right now, trying to cater to the short attention span of the main merchandise demographic, whilst keeping the Smark happy and plugged in.
They may be sick of it because nothing has happened in a month they've been working together. Hated how ECW's ppv fell apart. Could've made WWE more money but they practically gave up on the third brand. Great interview. I may get annoyed by Punk but I can never be bored with him though.
I've been saying since they ended his feud with Cena that these two need to work together. As cool as it is that Rock is coming back I think Cena vs. Punk at Wrestlemania would have been even better. They are total opposites in just about every way: their characters, their wrestling style, their fans and the road they each took to get to where they are. Like Punk said, it's all about the dichotomy. Punk and Cena need to main event WM 29.
he explained it in a way to get people still talking and questioning it... he was given permission to do the promo but it wasnt written and was on the spot other than u few things he needed to say for the storyline...
When listening to Punk talking about the way his return went about in 2011, and thinking about HHH burying him at NoC, it makes me think; what if they had Cena face someone else at Summerslam? What if they delayed Sheamus' face turn, faced Cena at Summerslam, Cena retains, Del Rio cashes in on Cena, they feud until Vengeance (where Cena wins the feud) and Punk returned after their Vengeance match and they made Punk vs Cena at Survivor Series?
He was prepared to fight people backstage, after that promo! Lol Cm Punk is a legend! He's good at promos bcus he speaks his mind.
10 years later he really did
If he ever returns wwe will explode
Andrew Leftwich with Vince you never know?
Andrew Leftwich I don’t think it did
and WWE exploded lol so glad he’s back
That's why I always listen to his interview because it's very interesting to know about wrestling from him. One of the things that I love about punk is that he speaks up his mind and tells the truth , we have seen this rare from other wrestlers
An excellent interview. Punk really shows how well spoken he is, and he definitely is one of the best promos and wrestlers out there today.
This was so fascinating to listen to. I really do wish it was longer. I could probably listen to a 2 hour podcast like this and not be bored. Punk, oddly, has a really soothing voice.
Thank you for this.
we had the same thought 11 years apart his voice really is soothing
Yet this is a guy who is being used as a mid-carder, who's 435 day title reign only had him main event a PPV twice because of the bastardisation of John Cena being shoved down you're throat every week. How is this guy and Daniel Bryan not going to headline WrestleMania ?
WWE = Worlds Wrestling Enemy.
+douglas funny i don't think punk hates the rock i feel like he thinks its just bullshit that the rock can disappear for years and come back for one night and be handed a title and a main event
Rosenberg always gives some of the best wrestling interviews.
Man I swear punk is the best interviewer I love watching all his interviews
Gotta love Punk :)
I've never noticed how soothing his voice is.
Awesome, awesome analogy. That's why I love CM Punk. John Cena, straight laced, all American, boy scout = Superman. CM Punk, morally ambiguous yet somehow still seems to follow a strict moral code, marches to the beat of his own drum = Batman.
Cena and Punk deserves a one more match , at Wrestlemania .

Punk looks super tired all the time how often does the guy sleep massive respect for him.
No
He said his normal hours of sleep at the time of wwe were 3 hours max
BrandonTributesHD That's how much I sleep and my eyes don't sag like the pants of a wannabe gangster
9:22 Punk was probably thinking in his head "I hate that motherfucker...he buried me at NoC" xD
i could listen to him for hours, he is an interesting person to listen to.
This by far is one of the best interviews I have ever watch. So real and honest. And CM Punk is such a humble and real person. And as much crap as Cena gets from fans, the fact that he realized that it was time to let someone else, Punk, to be "The Man", you can't help but respect that!
this channel should have 1 mill subscribers.
I could listen to CM Punk for hours.
He's very sarcastic. He does believe he is the best overall package in WWE today which I agree with. When the era passes he'll be considered great. No one considered Austin the greatest of all time until he left as well. (Not claiming Austin actually is but a lot of people do)
Austin was the best then now forever
I love that Punk is an old school fan. Some of his matches he throws in tributes to legends like the Macho Man (especially after his passing). that talk about him and john cena was so nice cus its true they have such a great dynamic
Best interview I've seen in a long time. Punk has an incredible mind for wrestling.
It's so nice to hear an actual wrestling fan interview a wrestler.
The People Champ I just Agree with this guy in so many levels.
ĺĺ
quite possibly the best interview ive spent 20 minutes watching.
The way he explained the whole CM Punk/John Cena storyline at the end was excellent. Great interview.
Punk reminds me of Eminem, similar personalities.
I agree. I'm a big fan of both of them.
Jumbo Shrimp Punk reminds me of Lil Jon and the East side Boyz
Thanks for the awesome interview!
this was FANTASTIC.
I was there 7/17/11 epic night. Nice interview. Bring on WM28
He handles himself so well. You can tell he's not fake like even in a lot of the shoot promos people are afraid to say certain things. He's like "Okay, whatcha got for me?"
great interview....thanks
Thanks for asking such great questions. I love Punk, as you can tell he's still a fan, and he's very real (and I am also a comic geek). I respect the hell out of him, and you did a great job with this interview.
CM Punk bringing up the Batman Superman thing was spot on and gave me yet one more reason why CM Punk is the best.
I could listen to so much of this, awesome to listen too.
I love peter rosenbergs interviews, always well thought out none awkward interviews...
The Daniel Bryan storyline is what the Summer of Punk could have been. but in a way, that CM Punk shoot opened doors for a lot a dominoes to fall in places. and 2 & half years later, it definitely changed WWE for the better.

one of the things i like the most is the fact that john cena really has stepped down since the summer and has let cm punk start to become the new face of the company
Hey Great interview... felt great to watch an interview about wrestling by a real wrestling fan!
I still believe fully that CM Punk is the only person who can keep me hooked on him talking for more than 20 minutes and still keep me interested.
Why couldn't this be longer, I could listen to this for hours and hours.
The Batman/Superman reference was dead on! Very good interview. Enjoyed it!
that's why i love my cousin, we were watching punk vs cent and he's 7, he was voting for punk with me, best in the world
Love the interview super Awesome...an A+ on the interview he did a great job..
awesome interview CM Punk is a cool dude. Glad hes WWE champion
Gotta love Punk. And yes, they are right about the IWC. This guy is single-handedly carrying the business right now.
loved this video it's good to see punk being interviewed he's very intelligent and knowlegeble about the business that's rare most other interviews seem scripted or phony but not punk's there always 100 % real

This clarifies whether that legendary, epic shoot promo was indeed a shoot or not. Now we know. Fucking awesome!
Punk speaks his mind much respect
10yrs later and Punk is entering into the world title scene at All Elite Wrestling......... Crazy
a year later now he’s back in wwe
Great interview some nice insight behind the curtain also...
Amazing interview and I've been saying this for the longest but WWE needs Rosenberg working for them, Creative, Backstage interviewer, commentator, manager... anything he'd be great and Punk seems like a down to earth real guy
CM PUNK doen to earth 😂😂😂. That did not age well.😅
Awesome!!! Perfect analogy!!!
Too short. WANT MOAR !
This was a great interview, sir...
@Billy Pilarski His promos have always reminded me of the Joker
It mean's a'lot more than that lol ! Chick magnet is the original term but it also stand's for Chicago made, Championship material and more.
CM Punk is amazing
Best Comparisson Ive SEEN!
I smiled to myself.
another great interview
VERY GREAT INTERVIEW! OFFICIALLY SUBBED!
Reminds me of Edge. For long periods of time it didn't matter whether or not he was heel or face. A lot of people hated him and a lot of people liked him.
I miss you, punk.
CM Punk .. CM Punk .. CM Punk .. CM Punk .. CM Punk
Best in The world
I've seen that, too, so you are absolutely right. The South friggin' LOVES Cena.
BEST IN THE WORLD! Wrestling is cool again BECAUSE of this guy! Just don't turn him into a heel too quickly. The fans are cheering and they're saying they're booing him; a Semiotic Conundrum. It's just crazy. But,THANK YOU Punk.
Peter Rosenberg has my dream job, talking to rappers and wrestlers.
Damn good interview. It felt like a lot of questions that were asked were ones a lot of us would wanna say to him. Luckily he was honest about all of it and it was awesome.
love this interview
"You put the two guys together, the fans has to choose one, and especially the little kids, and the little kids are gonna choose John, 100 percent". You know us too well punk.
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

I love you CM PUNK #399 DAYS #BESTINTHEOLWORLD
theres a independent circuit all around the country. and the on screen firings are just part of storylines, they aren't really fired.
Its crazy. I thought of that superman/batman comparison too. Cm punk is that dude
Brilliant insightful interview. CM Punk looked knackered tho lol Really like to c CM Punk v Daniel Bryan 60 min iron man match at Wrestlemania 28, but I doubt we'll c a 60min match again.

He's got a long way to go to be a top heel all time but im finaly coming around a tad.heyman puts everyone over nicely.
Fucking GREAT! Thank you for this, great interview Rosenberg.
that's my two favorite things lol Hip Hop and Wrestling
MORE. MORE. MOREEE!
Great interview
They may be sick of it because nothing has happened in a month they've been working together.
Hated how ECW's ppv fell apart. Could've made WWE more money but they practically gave up on the third brand.
Great interview. I may get annoyed by Punk but I can never be bored with him though.
I wouldn't doubt that for a second
I've been saying since they ended his feud with Cena that these two need to work together. As cool as it is that Rock is coming back I think Cena vs. Punk at Wrestlemania would have been even better. Superb!
still to this day I havn't seen punk vs cena at mitb. I will catch it right now
CM Punk is being CM Punk Like him or hate him he is the real deal
he explained it in a way to get people still talking and questioning it... he was given permission to do the promo but it wasnt written and was on the spot other than u few things he needed to say for the storyline...
CM Punk The Legend
damn just listening to punk an what he saying is rather eye opening
When listening to Punk talking about the way his return went about in 2011, and thinking about HHH burying him at NoC, it makes me think; what if they had Cena face someone else at Summerslam? This was uploaded on my birthday :D
