This is 100% why doing a Destiny 3 would be the same exact way. We'd start at a square one and have to get stronger. I can see everyone who lobbied for it complaining about it. And who knows what changes they'd make that people wouldn't like. Everyone is screaming for Destiny 3, but I don't think that'll be the answer. Bungie is in a horrible position

D3 would make things worse cause we’d have to start over completely. We’ve spent far too many countless hours adding and grinding our collection. The only way people would play it is if Bungie doesn’t have anything to do it and if they can transfer everything from d2 over including our entire collection. In conclusion- no one will buy or play it if bungies involved and if they don’t transfer our things from d2. They should just end with d2 and be done with the franchise, if their plans after this year completely flop, it’s Joeover for them and the franchise cause this would be the time Sony would 100% fire them from the game

This is a lot of reading, bear with me here.
I think we are all noticing key things that made Destiny feel like Destiny were being either Left to Rot or Straight up removed (accidentally or Intentionally) . All of us were excited about the New things, in general, and didnt notice the older things that were Untouched for years until later.
For example, with the iteration of Red Borders, we were all too deep into the new feature and many didn't notice the RNG factor fading away. A lot of us loved Into The Light, because RNG factors were brought back, and there were two versions, the Base and the Shiny. Pantheon was a pain in a fun way, because there was a challenge.
Another Example, Bungie leaving the Big 3 activities (Mainly Vanguard and Gambit) to rot and only giving them a couple things, vs back then it felt like they had a lot. The Strikes are either the worse version of Battlegrounds, or the same 3 strikes (Sephiks Prime, SABER-1, and Navota, maybe Hashladun if you're lucky) Gambit only got the Dreaming city map back.
Exotics aren't Exotics anymore, Pinnacles are useless.
Bungie giving Destinations one purpose: Seasonal and Main story, and nothing to really chase after in those destinations in the long run. Especially the older vendors that been around forever. "Core game Activities" the Devs listed to be worked on.
vs Back then, there was a lot of RNG based activities, things to do, things to chase. Remember when you had to get the Mote of Light in forsaken to get the New Supers? Remember when you had a purpose going back to older things? The most of a purpose you have is nostalgia in the older destinations, or youre doing a raid to Only help people. Once you get the red borders, never touching the past again. In a way, this paragraph that you've read also indicates that Vaulting did so much more damage to Replayability and Purpose than some people realize.
I'm glad the articles they made highlighted some of these issues to be fixed later in episodes and 2025, but actions speak louder than words.
In my opinion, I much rather people complain about RNG or how it doesnt respect anyones time rather than having a list of issues with the game despite it's Upsides.

    • @lordgrub12345
      @lordgrub12345 Час назад

Tbf, this doesn't change anything. People would still complain. Exotics would be too hard, rng is bad because they don't have the time to grind, it doesn't matter what they do, people will always complain. I have not seen more then three or four changes in the last two years that wasn't met with atleast some negativity or just not caring at all. People have to realize that they as individuais are not the mind, body and soul of the destiny community and that every change should be warped around them and any change directed to other people in the community should be met hate to both the part of the community it was directed towards and bungie. It's a completely unwinnable fight. Hell, I wouldn't like if they brought back some of those things that the game used to have.

I feel Bungie is going in the right direction... making enemies smarter is the way forward. However, if you ask me, Bungie is too reliant on arean machanics, which makes the quests, raids and dungeons boring, and repetitive over time, especially if the machincs are super hard for new players to understand. Don't believe me..?
Just look at the new encore exotic mission... they forced us to play that boring mission so many times I don’t think I will every play it again.

Nearly every game has a 'power level' increase that comes with every content release that's pretty much irrelevant because the content released is tuned to that increased power.
There is a loud minority of Destiny players that complain about everything. It's more important to them to be angry than to be consistent or objective. Most players aren't watching RUclipsrs or posting on forums. The new people that _do_ go to a forum or RUclips and see a creator tell them how bad the game is are not going to play, not going to watch that creator, or will play and ignore creators.
Point being when you make negative content consistently you'll find yourself in an echo chamber with that loud minority, which will distort your perception of what the general community thinks and wants.

I think something frequently looked over in a lot of discourse about the community as a whole is that different portions want different things. Aztecross had his video recently for criticizing the community who say they want more grind for being hypocrites for not wanting the 10 level Pinnacle increase. The same people clamoring for more grind are not the same people upset about the Pinnacle grind, largely. I, for one, don't especially want more grind. I only want to grind if the end reward is meaningful. A small Pinnacle increase isn't.
A lot of people want crafting minimized. I played Destiny on and off until Watch Queen came out and I got WAY more into it because I could never enjoy it due to the heavy RNG before crafting. I now have thousands of hours since and am a super hardcore player. I love just playing the game now that I feel it has rewards that are attainable via crafting. If they diminish the role of crafting as they implied they might in a recent blog post, my play time will absolutely take a hit. I'm here to have fun killing aliens with powerful guns, not play a slot machine. This would make the crafting-haters happy, while scorning a different subset of players who will then become the vocal ones making the Reddit posts asking for more crafting and reminiscing about the good old days when they could get the rewards they wanted.
Destiny is a large tent with varying opinions, so the community aren't hypocrites for pleading for crafting and then rejecting it. These are different groups and when the crafting-haters are appeased, then another group (including myself) will have less fun as a result.
I will say, I think trying to build the game for the most hardcore of hardcore players will absolutely lead to it's downfall, but that's a topic for another day.

  • @xAbsynthex
    @xAbsynthex 15 часов назад +1

You know, I have a lot of thoughts on this topic. But I think you said it perfectly at the end:
Destiny has just ran its course.
They can add or remove whatever they want, change whatever they want, put this gun, that super, whatever they want, and it’s just gonna further drive them down the drain. Because the game is built off of old boomer bones, a time that we are long past. A time that no longer exists. Even just the name “Destiny” itself isn’t seen as too favorable these days. I hate to use the MCU analogy , but I think that perfectly captures where we are. We killed our Thanos, and now we’re trying build a Multiverse.
But we’ll never get that glory leading up to that point again. Yeah sure we may get some good stuff here and there, but as a whole, the ride’s over. A lot of people have gotten off, but there’s still some of us, a lot of us, still sitting, thinking they’re gonna press the button again.
    The ride’s over.

Its exactly the same as people crying over having to grind too much for a particular roll they're chasing, bungie introduces weapon crafting and those exact same people now moan crafting ruined the game. I mean.. whut?!.
Regardless, as always bungie giveth bungie taketh, any change usually just means the grind is moved to something else 😂. Regarding mods yeah it kinda screwed build crafting diversity and options, easier i don't know, there's so many people that run around with pretty poor builds 😜 and yeah certainly agree locks got shafted most, look at what locks brought healing nades, devour, restoration etc etc but what did locks get back? Barely anything 😊😅. Certainly not advocating all grinding should be removed but i think one (of several) core issues is (was better but since FS returned) stuff being too grindy completely kills replayability. Who wants to do an activity again after having to run it 200 times. New light experience indeed sucks donkey balls, but destiny's community drama addiction, and certain content creatore monetizing drama and negativity are also likely content to a low new player inflow

  • @remister1984
    @remister1984 18 часов назад +1

I felt the same sentiments from the video. Was kinda bummed with Class 2.0 and lock lost its identity in the game (I only have a lock char). I guess its cool that all classes got the nades (I do like that everyone get supression nades). And I guess with the added exotic class item, the identity gets diluted (yay finally locks gets an exotic that can buff their supers XD) I use to keep my groll rng guns, but no need when you can craft them with enhanced rolls. Now since I've been vault-gated for a few years, I've been just deleting crafted rolls and craft them back up when I need them. I feel like D1 was more of the testing grounds where FPS gameplay was first and D2 evolved to what RPG aspects of the game with the FPS gameplay.

A better way is to chase artifacts that are super powerful. Chasing these power items that increase power is so much cooler and enjoyable than chasing numbers.

  • @pencilswordfish

Yep. Champions are my favorite example of the Bungie's monkey's paw. We asked for more challenging enemies, and it took them a while to figure it out (we eventually got the 'BETTER' designed 'champions' in Wyverns, Tormenters and Subjugators, etc).
The bigger issue with champions is instead of fixing champions by either removing them, making champ stun mechanics more intuitive/flexible, etc what they did instead was WARP THE GAME around champions instead - so now we're stuck with this unintuitive system that's another barrier to new players.
As you said, champs are a hard lock and key system, even after they've alleviated this issue with Champ stunning abilities, etc. It doesn't change that it's unintuitive, people don't organically learn how to deal with champions. IMO Champs are still not fixed, they're still bad design.
The fix was always: make ANY weapon break a Barrier if you spray it with enough damage then just make it so burst weapons that chunk are better at doing it. It works because experienced players will know what to use exactly, and noobs can use what they want just in a worse way but still works, then they will eventually learn that chunking weapons are better at it. Same with Overloads but in reverse, spraying weapons slow them down, chunking weapons can run out of ammo before you kill an overload, etc. Unstops will stun/stop charging when you reach a threshold of damage, regardless of weapon. The mistake was always that champ stunning works or it doesn't, no middle ground.
Problem with champs is they're, again, unintuitive - people don't learn how to deal with Champs on their own, in the field, organically. They learn how to deal with champions thru frustrating gameplay where "nothing works", or lengthy explanations and indicators on the enemy and indicators on their character menus - if you're lucky and a noob somehow missed all those context clues, now they need a YT video or something to explain champs to them.
It's yet another problem in Destiny2's other BIGGER problem, and it's barrier to entry and how awful it is for newbies to learn the game. Which is another can of worms. D2's new player experience takes the crown for being one of the worst in all of gaming. Among many many other problems in the game, champs should NOT be repeated for Destiny 3, if that ever happens.

I disagree it being a "were never satisfied" issue. It's a "corporate bureaucracy leads to meaningful changes happening way to late to matter" issue. Imagine you ran a restaurant and people order food at 3pm but you don't get it out of the kitchen till 5pm because you're arguing with the staff and other cooks. It's the same thing. Why would you wait for a game to implement a basic fix to an issue every other game studio had on day one in the same year of release? Like in game LFG. There's not a single good reason that couldn't have been in the base game. Or players who asked for new enemy factions to face. 7 years? I understand story dictates what we get, but the witness couldn't have sent a new faction after us sooner? And it's not even a full faction, just 2.5 new regular enemies and 2 bosses. And with the lack of communication that Bungie has given, including that hissy for they threw last year after the pay offs and abandoning the Twitter help page, they should expect nothing less. And based off those launch trailers with the staff breakdowns, it confirms what I've suspected for a long time: they're making this game for themselves 1st and players 2nd. How else do you get the seasonal story locked behind one of the hardest exotic missions they've ever put out (not to be confused with the secret missions, like Whisper of the worm or Outbreak). This is practically the final Calus battle, but with vex and raid mechanics. It wouldn't matter if they made a 3rd game at this point, because unless they intend on addressing the issues players had with D2, like not PVP servers, I don't think even the most staunch fans will buy it. To steal a line from Vince McMahon "Destiny 2 Screwed Destiny 2."

The thing I hate about crafting is how some weapons in an activity are craftable, while others are not. For example, in Duality 2 of the like 6 weapons are craftable (both of those being the old revised ones); it took me over a year, over 350+ checkpoint clears to get a Lingering Dread with 3 specific perks. I'm glad I have it, but I would have much rather wished for it to just be a red border, doing Duality that many times is not fun.

This is mostly what I’ve been trying to explain to people, but I’m always accused of being crazy by the noisy minority who think just because they jump and scream that they are “the community”, too many egos I guess.
Anyway to avoid making too big of a wall of text, I’ll just point out a few things I (respectfully) disagree with.
Destiny 3 would NOT be a good onboarding experience, I get that D2 is horrible to get into, but how many people skipped Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers, but joined for Return of the King? Why would any reasonable amount of people who avoided 1 and 2 say “I never touched the early games, but you know this random point so far in would be a perfect place to start”.
Look at World of Warcraft, Runescape, Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV, Warframe, League of Legends, countless more successful games that stand the test of time because they DON’T have a “3” or “2”, they just continuously expand.
And even more importantly, no “sunsetting” is ALWAYS a bad move, not just “well if it was done the right way”, just straight up no.
Every attempted implementation, I mean EVERY, without fail (Dark Below, Taken King, D2 launch, Beyond Light) has completely eviscerated the player base, and sent the franchise in a so far irreparable death spiral.
All the arrogant egos currently claiming “but this times different, we need it back” are like dating a serial cheater saying “I don’t care she cheated on the last 100 guys, she won’t cheat on me, I’m different, trust me bro”, so many people are too blinded to see logic.
Also all of the new and unique weapons we have gotten lately are because “sunsetting” is currently NOT a thing, as Bungie can’t just reskin the same old shit when they can’t just take the original away from you, they actually have to innovate to make you willingly stop using existing gear, which is only ever a good thing.
The other side of “sunsetting” is that when you take away everything someone has, it becomes a perfect off boarding point, as in when you have lost all invested ties, why would you simply restart basically the same grind all over again every time, when you can just find another (potentially better suited) game to put time into.
This is exactly why so many original players have been lost, never to return over the years.
Sorry it still became so long, but thanks to anyone who genuinely read to understand, and not just resort to personal attacks because “differing opinions” bruise egos these days.

If there is no grind I'm out. I've been playing since the beginning, and I just crafted my first weapon yesterday. It was Chior of One. It's the only way to get the catalyst (I hate that).
I want to find my weapons in the wild, or randomly from a vendor. This is what keeps me playing. The day that ends is the day I leave Destiny.
This was a much better video than the last one. I'm glad you see that there is a huge portion of the community that plays for different reasons than you do. This is why so many of us stop playing on the same day we reach max light. The grind is over, so what's the point? For you, the point is to play the game. For us, it's to chase a number and some god rolls.
Bungie has to figure out a way to please both camps. I think raising the light level by a measly 10 points is the most amazing compromise I've ever seen on this game. I would have preferred 50 levels.

I'm worried for the future of Weapon Crafting. I think they don't like that people just get their patterns and leave so recently they teased that crafting would be more of a catchup mechanic rather than a primary way to chase loot but if the way to get loot post crafting nerf is less deterministic than it is now then I think people would just rather not engage with the system unless its for an absolute BiS like Indebted Kindness and Edge Transit.
As it is right now I think people are engaging more than they ever would with content associated with patterns just because they're not difficult to collect even though they'll probably never use most weapons they get anyway. This is the case especially with seasonal content. As for raids, without crafting, I know I'm not playing the raid for loot at least until Master mode comes out and that's only if they carry on the triple perk system from SE.
I hope they think this decision through more cause if it's half baked like a lot of their ideas it'll just backfire on them. If the way the loot chase is right now significantly regresses I can imagine a scenario where most endgame players just rely on their current selection of patterns, only grind truly must have weapons and just wait for the "catch-up" mechanic to kick in to get rolls they wanted for the newer weapons.

I think Class 2.0 to 3.0 would've been better if they limited us a bit more like in D1 where we couldn't have access to everything.
Edit: I think weapon crafting might've been better for the health of the game if we could only craft up to 80% of the "pinnacle god roll" weapon in the sandbox. Like back in WQ, something like Taipan could be craftable with Triple Tap/Frenzy or Firing Line but you couldn't craft Cataclysmic with Fourth Times/Bait And Switch. I do agree with the enhanced perks argument you made.

Just a comment on the crafting subject. I only have time to play one character. I am not a warlock main since D1, I am a Warlock only since D1. And I have a terrible RnG always had, so I have to admit that I do enjoy the crafting possibility, and even with that it takes me ages to get all the red borders gor the weapon I am interested in. But I also have to admit that I really like that we can enhance random drops.
Finally, I do manage to play enough to attempt solo flawless some dungeons. Although I still haven't solo flawless the latest one, but I just reached 1999 light, so now I can focus on that for the last two weeks. I'll keep playing as long as there are new dungeons.

I find myself when I do login because I have 10 years worth of loot. There is no real reason to purse anything unless it’s a full meta shift or a hard nerf I have something that always works. I personally don’t know how to fix this maybe broaden the fire team finder and the loot and drive to play I don’t have an answer.

Completely agree. Crafting has been a godsend for vault space, & returning/ new players, but I think the main problem is the state of trademark activities' (pvp, strikes & gambit) replay Value. The truth is, pvp can carry a game by itself during content droughts (ex. hero shooters), but right now it's too frustrating with weird spawns, bad game-modes & elements that make it easy to snowball. Secondly, strikes are outdated, I'd rather replay different parts of the new story with matchmaking or friends. I really like the direction of onslaught but they need to cook it more (new enemies, more randomness & new mechanics; not just throwing balls the whole time).
Once the hallmark playlists have been ironed-out, I think we're ready for D3.

Most definitely, there has to be a way to on board new players. It's got to be so confusing to them. Heck, I have been confused as to what was going on through the years. I got so many guns, I don't know what to do with them when I end up only running a few all the time. I try other games and keep coming back to D2. At it's base, it's better than anything else out there for FPS in my opinion.

hit the nail on the head with your point on how if you've been here since 2014, the game has ran its course and the days of the taken king and forsaken are gone. even then i can't believe after 10 years that's all they have to show for it, couple month spurts of good vibes then the community goes right back to hating the game again. Don't get me wrong bungie has evolved the game and added many interesting systems/ideas over the years BUT when i first heard mention of this IP my mind ran wild with possibilities "a sci fi adventure" the ideas are endless; multiple systems and planets, ship flying and combat, trading, in depth customization etc. But still after 10 whole years none of that has ever came close to fruition, blame management or whatever asshole in a suit you want for that but Destiny has always had this safety net over it, they wanted to be a household name and succeeded in that with D2 but they lost their identity, the mystery of it all became predictable and monetized too easily. They became "safe" and truly catered to casuals. I think part of me realized I was here only for the ride and the "what if" of Destiny and it kept me playing and spending money. Now seeing what they've been able to accomplish I am left disappointed and feeling like I was sold a dream. Bungie truly screwed up a generation defining IP, this shit could have been bigger than star wars if done right. But I'm done thinking in the "what ifs," they have shown that this is no longer their priority and it's time for a new king to take the throne. I love this game and will most likely still play but man it's rough being so invested and then realizing there will be no real pay off. So much wasted fucking potential man it just doesn't make any logical sense.

There is a big split between fans, amongst other things, of the players that care for a looter shooter and all the grind and related things that come with that, and the group of people that want a story focused, 1 and done action shooter experience.
The hunger for more content is battling with this split. The looter fanbase wants more individuality to people's inventory, for heavy grinders to have things casual players wont ever get, via fun to replay content.
The other portion fanbase wants to play a FPS version of dynasty warriors; low difficulty, almost 0 barrier to entry, that can constantly (and unrealistically) provide 1 and done story based content.
Catering to the first group would make it closer to other looter games, and in my opinion make the game better. Catering to the 2nd group has been what they've done for years now, and it's a big reason, in my opinion, the game is "dying" (I don't think it's dying, but continuing to cater to the 2nd group might end up killing it)

  • @thetruth9651

Bungie needs to start using their own judgement and not just do whatever people ask for; this community is a great example: they complain and want everything to be easy and understood without reading more than a near-illiterate person can. I make a million builds and know that everytime, it's either kickstart, surges, fonts, or finisher mods, along with extra time dilation or powerful attraction mods; you can't do what you used to. Then, as far as crafting is concerned, it should of been implemented differently or better yet, it should have never been considered. A massive part of destiny is about earning random loot, and no matter what, crafting takes a good chunk out of the grind; like boohoo, you got unlucky. All they would have to do is increase drop chances or add challenges to increase it because more challenge should mean more loot and better chance at getting better loot. And sure, I have an unpopular opinion, but who cares; both bungie and this community are running around with their hair on fire, so I'll stick to what I know is true.

We need more in depth armour mods because they all feel so basic and generalist.
We need more use cases for certain fragments and aspects.
We need more synergy and exotics that really buff certain parts of subclasses.
And we need unlockables that show your mastery with subclasses. Something that really shows how dedicated you are to a subclass.

and if you want more proof. just look at radi completions day one ALL pc. it isn’t because they’re good. it’s because they can’t die.

@@omarlocke4351you say this but you haven't heard of the bug that PC players playing above 90fps literally take more damage because more ticks are being calculated per second. If anything playing high fps on PC is a detriment to you. They've never patched this and it's been a bug with DMG calculation since pre forsaken. It's especially bad on enemies that have rapid beam like attacks. Ogres are the worst offenders, you take more DMG at 120 fps and die faster vs 30fps. Not saying console Is at an advantage, but saying PC players die less or are more tanky has been shown to be wrong.

@@spakentruth bungie changed that because pc players were crying that the game was too hard. the fact is that of players are playing baby game and have been for years.
pc players have been b&m about “game too easy” as they play on a platform that quite literally has difficulty dying in master mode content. i get it. you dislike this reality. i do too. i sincerely wish bungie would fix this issue to make the game harder for them and cease making changes that harm console players.
i’m not really sure how to fix the issue but if ignoring it and pretending it isn’t true because you don’t like it is another bad choice that harms the game.
pc players claim to want more challenge. when difficulty was tied to frame rate they all lowered their frame rates and cried then the recent difficulty changes were made and they chased of many many console players. these changes should be reverted. again, i don’t know what a good answer for baby gamers on pc would be…

@@omarlocke4351did you even read what i wrote or you just yapping through chat gpt? if bungie "fixed" the issue like you say you want then PC players would be at a much better advantage, higher frames, more stability, smoother overall gameplay, easier to dodge and input commands and shit without having to worry about getting shredded by a shrieker or a ogre at 144fps bc you take more damage

D3 with a new engine and new management and team will 100% beat whatever the hell destiny is right now . Everyone just assumes we will just repeat the same mistakes, I hope Sony guts bungie and starts with actual responsible adults in leadership.

There is a certain percentage of the community that play Destiny as a pastime ... they will engage as long as there is a number to chase or another Seal to collect YOU may not like this but you dont have to engage in it ... and BUNGIE probably saw the numbers of those players leave with no number to chase .. my idea is focus on the things that affect you and not the things that dont for health of the game
