Very informative. Also, Dearborn Music is awesome. I no longer live in Detroit but when I visit family I always make it a point to visit Dearborn Music,
Nice that you caught this "little caveat" and call it a "hard pass" on the vinyl spinner :) To recap this: So, I am buying a re-badged Pro-Ject Primary, a roughly USD 300 turntable ... my bad, it jumped to 350 now, but there are sales you know ..., with an OM10 instead of the regular OM5, which is a USD30 upgrade, for a total of 380 bucks of value, but it costs 600 bucks with the Triangle badge. I can just buy the original Primary and add the OM10, or something even better for about 100 bucks, and the turntable package is only 450 bucks!
Love to see Dearborn Music on here. I’m a little further away than I used to be, but they are one of the best. Didn’t know about free shipping over $50!
I’m in Washington too! I was able to visit Dearborn Music last summer when I went home to visit family. I was hoping to see one of my former coworkers from Harmony House that works there now, but of course, it was his day off!😂 Still a great experience there regardless.
Thanks for the review, this looks like a very easy way to get into the vinyl game! Appreciate your analytical and comprehensive reviews as always. Last year I got an AT LP120x USB and a pair of Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 based on your reviews, iiWi Reviews, and a few other sources. I also got a very affordable Fosi BT120a amp to get me started. I have a feeling that the Fosi may not be the best amp for my solution, but honestly the science of amps and audio engineering is a lot to grasp in evenings and weekends when sound quality isn't my main hobby. Any videos you could make on 'how to pair an amp with a set of speakers' would also be greatly appreciated!
Well I got a video notification from your channel this time And I live 2 hours West of Tesla's Hometown so I'll check your record store out online have a good day
Oh I forgot to mention, I used to have a ProJect elemental with the same belt / platter arrangement. If for one moment I didn’t pay attention I would knock the belt off of the platter. And it was pretty frustrating getting it back on. I simple groove in the platter would solve that problem 🤷♂️
Omgggg I LOVE your shirt 😍 Chris I think I let my Patreon lapse cause I was short on money during the holidays. Not sure of that tho, I’ll need to check. Anyhow if so, I’ll get back onboard
Thanks. My daughter bought it for my birthday. No worries, Jeremy. It'll be great to have you back as soon as you're ready. I'm working on some new stuff for Patrons only that I'd love to see you apart of.
I really like your videos and always hit the 'like' button as soon as they start. The only issue I have with this one is the idea of calling a $1200 system "entry level," or it being for "casual listeners." That is a LOT of money for folks of limited means or those who are just thinking of getting into the hobby. My "entry level system" was half the price and did me really well until a vintage Pioneer setup fell into my lap. Otherwise, thanks again for the video.
I appreciate the continued support. It's always a fine line of what entry level is from one person to the next, so I just have to base it on my own experiences. For me, this is on the border of entry level because you can find both items for around $800 total with some digging. I do think it's for casual listeners who might not want to dig deeper into the hobby, but that doesn't mean people who do, can't get more from this system. It's all in the eye of the viewer I suppose.
I am looking to put a small system in my office, and yeah I have found those speakers at a reasonable price, but I was thinking of running them with the Fluance RT85, that might be a nice budget system for under $1000.
Great Radio Controversy was mixed very well, but engineered poorly. THe following albums had so much more clarity. I am currently looking for a 2.1 (passive speakers) that can bring life to some of those 80's classics.
There’s a place with Triangle turntables in stock for $199 right now. Would that be a good starter? I’d probably upgrade the cartridge out of the box for a little added performance. Thoughts? Love your channel too btw! Great work 👍🏻
If your wow and flutter measurement is accurate, it's enough to hear and more than twice that of $400-600 U-Turn and Fluance 'tables with a phono stage.
Gosh just no. Lots of money for one purpose? A decent pair of speakers and 2.1 to start out. I went fluance rt82, but I am a big fan of project and I am always tinkering with an old Dual. But good grief. Get a good set of modern 5.25 or 6.5’s, and build out from there. Your mileage and taste will vary. Here’s an upthumb…but I encourage folks with that kind of cash to splash our out on lifetime stuff.
No time for Pro-Ject turntables, overpriced rubbish. I once got sucked in by hype and purchased a Debut Evo and it was absolute garbage. No a happy Technics owner.

They're certainly worth the trip.
I love your reviews . They erudite and to the point and I believe honest .
Well done .
Thank you very much for that.
I absolutely love The Great Radio Controversy. Nice hearing you talk highly of it.
It's a great album.
Thanks for the Dearborn records website online since I don't live in Michigan!
They're an excellent store.
Happy new year to you and your loved ones! ^__^
Thanks, to you as well.
I have really liked your content, all your reviews, and that beard is perfection!
I appreciate it.
Friends new to vinyl always ask me for turntable recommendations. I think this will be a good option to send going forward!
It's worth a look.

It's good to make a pilgrimage every now and again when you can, and free shipping when you cant.
Thank you for another interesting review. 👍
Jim 🏴🙂
Glad you enjoyed it.
I can't say enough nice things about Dearborn Music and I live in Washington state! Great selections, great service and attentive customer care.
I'm glad to hear that.

super review. very well explained!
Glad you liked it!

It's really just a matter of trial and error, provided the amp has the wattage to drive the speakers.
Great review once again
Thank you.

Michigan! Fuck yeah
Hey I just got these, I’m looking for a subwoofer for this, can you suggest me please.
Thanks
I like the bonus review of Tesla’s the great radio controversy !
😁

Don’t suppose you could ask her where she found it? I seriously want that shirt for myself 😄
@@jeremyr722 it is a pretty rad shirt

It certainly would.

I demoed these speakers in a hifi store with a debut carbon evo... nowhere near loud enough :( i could have a conversation over the top volume !

Without seeing which specific table, it's hard to say yes. I would imagine it would be a good start, though.
Do you know if these can be ran into a interface ? Say an Apollo twin interface
I wouldn't have any idea.
another excellent review!
Thank you, Nelson.

I didn't experience anything that pulled my ear, so take that for what it's worth.
@@thevinylattack To be fair I'm more sensitive to pitch variation than most. I have found a 0.3% wow and flutter to be quite audible with music.
@@1mctous It's good to know what you can and can't hear. If that much variation bothers you, that's valuable information.
2:47 Nope. W/F specs don't matter in most cases, but that's just too high. Should be 0.1% or lower.

I could not agree more. Tried 2 Pro-Ject turntables in my life and 2 times I regretted. Now also a happy Technics turntable owner.
