They need to make the bending effects more prominent. It looks like he's just straight up hitting him with his fist. I love Aang, but his moveset doesn't look like he's bending at all.
@@bratwurstsausage426 I know right? In the show if he punches, it is usually followed by a gust of wind. What they should've done was made most of his attacks propel air forward or at least all of his "punch" attacks. Like when he does the dash palm thing, he could've propelled the air forward which has a stronger hitbox at the end of the wind and can push people back, but if it misses for the most part, you'll still get hit by the palms, but a lot weaker with little knockback. Aang was never known for being a physical powerhouse
It feels like fire in the early Smash games, like something that looks out of place and with almost 0 presence, maybe they could make it more stylished if the air was bigger and more grey-white, not just lines. We need more air ball and less spider webs.
Toph could just as easily be one of the 2 characters that weren't ready for launch and who are free DLC. Garfield could be our final pre release reveal
@Aarogance COMPLETE inconsistency with character traits. He fights by dodging. Ever seen Avatar the last air bender???? Or played smash where they do the characters the right way???? Didn’t think I needed to spell it out for you
@@parkerhubbell3802 Bruh you can't have a fighting character that just dances around. They translated Aang's gracefulness into his playstyle rather than his moves. The dude needs to attack properly otherwise we got an Olimar situation.
“Air ball”???? I think you mean air scooter. This game looks fun, and I know some people are saying that it’s meta might be better than Smash’s, but from what I’ve seen a lot of the move sets seem kinda lame - mostly punches or kicks or pushes. It doesn’t look like there’s a whole lot of individuality in the move sets.
The lack of voices from the characters adds to that lack of individuality. It’s weird to see characters all known for their voices not saying anything or even grunts. It feels lifeless
He looks fun... But he doesn't seem represented as well as I'd hoped. I mean he's an Avatar. I was kind of hoping all 4 elements to be incorporated into his kit. Aang and Korra having access to the same elements, but still fighting differently was what I was excited for, but eh.
I'm guessing its because they want Korra to be more than just a reskin of aang, and Toph to be unique. To be fair Aang did use airbending more than anything else, and his show was literally titled "the last airbender".
I think its fine this way. Even in the show Aang mostly fights with air. Also by having him be air focused, they can probably have Korra do water and Toph earth allowing each to feel unique in gameplay instead of having "semi-clone" characters.
It would have been cool to see his ground heavy attacks be the other 3 elements at least, like a water strike for mid, an upwards flame for high, and a ground slam for low.
Rooster Teeth managed to get one (kinda) for RWBY, so mayb the dream's not too far-winded for Avatar-fighter in the future... Huh, did I just write a pun...
Looks like they used Aang from Season 1 where he only knows airbending, either way this game isn't Smash Bros. quality so honestly you're not gonna get much
@@johnsoapmactavish9921 But even book 1 Aang was learning water throughout. They probably wanted Aang to be air since Toph is solely earth, with Korra taking over fire and water primarily with some extras.
Why wasn't the directions of his moves correlated to a specific element? Like down is earth, up is wind, side is water, and neutral is fire; just as an example.
Honestly him not using all 4 elements ain't really a problem to me. Air is just his BnB and that's just fine. However, I don't think his moves are creative enough. Like there's not many moves like where he uses his staff and expand his bending. That would've been perfect for his strong attacks
THANK YOU!!! I thought I was the only one. It genuinely bothers me. He's the freaking avatar, the whole show is about learning all elements and mans only has one move using something other than air. Bruh.
ngl kind of disappointed with the range on his light and heavy attacks when in the show his air attacks covered a lot of distance so it makes no sense to have such a small hitbox on them judging from the trailer
Idk if I'm in the minority with this, but whole game looks kind of unimpressive imo. The concept was a Day 1 purchase, but the implementation is "I hope it goes on sale fast." Reading a lot of comments about the lack of budget but I guess the hype was enough to guarantee some DLC later? Hope they smooth out some things and get rights to better soundtracks too
@@meyes5671 $50 game, and no, sound in a video game is not an unrealistic expectation. Whether it was a budget, or anything else that prevented the rights or inability to fill this game with better background music and sound effects, that is something that is entirely within the game's realm of "fault", though I'm not sure why blame is needed. The game can still be fun, it may even still be "worth" it. A few showcases aren't enough to give a definitive answer on anything like that until it is in the players' hands. If it makes you feel any better, I saw a much better counterpoint in Zim's video showcase today: If you want this game to have meaningful updates, support it on launch for max profit and best numbers for the devs (not the commenter's exact words). I have to say, his animations are really off-putting to me. Part of what made ATLA so cool was that the characters' moves/fighting style were directly based on real martial arts (iirc, airbending is based on Ba Gua). I mean no offense to the animator(s), but what we have here looks nonsensical by comparison, and makes me seriously question how much research/referencing into the source material the animator(s) did. His idle animation looks to be based on Aang's iconic stance in the series (again, based on real-world martial arts/fighting), but ingame it comes across as incorrect. It just looks off in terms of structural integrity/practicality (why is he leaning/teetering downward like that?) not to mention awkward/silly. This is a confusing issue to me because I would think the animator would have plenty of reference material in the series to base the animation on. Very disappointed the show's real martial arts roots aren't reflected to any meaningful extent in his attacks, but I could live with it if the animations still looked convincing and cool to me. Unfortunately, they look similarly awkward/silly to the idle animation in my opinion ("wind chop"/light down looks especially ridiculous in my opinion). Also I find it strange/off-putting that he doesn't seem to be bending for a lot of the attacks. He's just sorta... Whacking them. At least he looks fun gameplay-wise, but I'm pretty disappointed :/ Again, nothing but respect for the animator(s) (I'm sure it's way harder than I can imagine), but I really hope this can still be cleaned up. If anyone is interested in ATLA's real martial-arts roots, here's a great article :) www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a32689010/avatar-the-last-airbender-martial-arts/
I hate the say this since it sounds like the devs really care about the game. But doesn't seem like they understand any of the basics of the Chinese martial arts behind the bending. I know it's just a kids game, but the show was also just a "kids show" and they paid a ton of attention to the details and always got things right. After all, it was a huge part of the show There are a ton of weird things going on, but oh man, those default standing animations and idle animations are really atrocious. They tried to give him a classic bagua position (which is what airbending is based on). However, his body position and pose is completely wrong. Even a beginner with 30mins of instruction wouldn't look like that. Knee position make no sense, hands /arm positions are completely wrong, and he's looking at the floor, and not his opponent. And he bobs up and down in this position a ton, which is a completely anti-bagua. Picking this position in general is problematic since you usually step in a circle from there. Instead they make him run forward/backward which looks super awkward, because, well it is mechanically awkward from that position. Even worse is his idle where he brings his hands to his center. This is an ending pose to forms, basically what you do at the end of routine. In the show, they used this a few times with bending to signify a final closing move in a fight. Here he's just doing it randomly with no reason. And again, the position, is completely wrong. It's supposed to be with legs equidistant from the center. It looks extremely awkward. The rest of his staff/attack moves don't look like they're based on anything. Not going to go in-depth on those since they're all so random and weird looking, but none of it looks wushu (Chinese martial arts) based or coherent. In the show, they drew on some basic northern style staff for his staff moves. If it is supposed to be wushu based, it is unfortunately so far off the mark that it no longer looks recognizable. Some references to get an idea of what bagua and staff movements should look like: *Bagua from Beijing Wushu Team member and Jet Li teammate Zhang Hongmei:* ruclips.net/video/3NHEOU88TaY/видео.html *Gunshu (staff) from Taolu World Cup Champion Achmad Hulaefi* ruclips.net/video/vHMtmkT3Ao4/видео.html
You said a lot of what I was trying to say but better! I just hope the devs see our concerns, though I'm not sure anything can be done this late in development...
This is a great example of how I consider this game to be a missed opportunity. I like the idea of him entering the avatar state when he gets to high percent. It’s a unique mechanic that fits his character. So much so it should be a through line of his entire kit not just one ability. Especially because the iconic orb of all four elements being a pretty standard in air attack is a tad underwhelming. Also no meta Knight glide. Literally unplayable.
Which is funny because Aang in the series is a master of negative jing, aka waiting for your opponent to attack and countering. If we were going by lore he'd be more of a bait and punish character.
@@1sdani That would probably more appropriate I suppose. He might still play like that though, considering his main thing seems to be movement speed. It might be hard to play bait and punish in this game though cause a lot of moves look super safe and unreactable.
For everyone asking for Jimmy and Timmy: 1) Frederator Studios and O Entertainment are a thing 2) They'll probably be DLC 3) The devs confirmed if they were in they'd be on the box art
Nick owns both shows though o entertainment was just the animation studio and frederator just produced the episodes that would be like cartoon network asking frederator to use adventure time to put them in brawlhalla
So they give Lucy, a normal child, two attack modes, but Aang, the one who ended The Hundred Year War and brought peace to the four nations by beating the Fire Lord Ozai, only airbends ????
This moveset is garbage. Doesn't represent Aang accurately at all. Aang doesn't punch or kick. He bends the elements. I've seen a better moveset in Mugen.
I think I know why they only let Aang use his air element, it's because they used his S1 counterpart and not his end game counterpart, since he looked different in the end
Visually he looks a bit...rough to me, though I understand that due to the budget. Regardless I'm happy he's in this game, and he's still the character I look forward to playing the most. I hope we get one more Avatar character. I know there's that Toph leak going around which would be just as great, but I'm gonna wait for something official before i get my hopes up. I just can't wait these last few days.

He looks good and the taunt is perfect 👌
I didn’t see a reveal
Looks like they're rushing a bit with the game being 4 days away from coming out.
@@BiGSmoke-.- Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.
I kinda wish his taunt was the thing where he got a marble and spun it around really quickly.
@@Ninblasto that is his taunt
They need to make the bending effects more prominent. It looks like he's just straight up hitting him with his fist. I love Aang, but his moveset doesn't look like he's bending at all.
It feels so weird to watch aang straight up punch someone.
We need more air ball and less spider webs.
excuse you, he was very clearly bending patrick in half
Can't wait for his best mentor, the greatest earthbender in the world to join the fight.
Idk why you guys didn't just reveal all 3 together.
I wish it was Sokka :(
The 3 were leaked we are not supposed to know they are coming
@@admiralAlfonso9001 I hope Is dlc
Toph could just as easily be one of the 2 characters that weren't ready for launch and who are free DLC. Garfield could be our final pre release reveal
The animations at the beginning take time to make, like how Smash animations cost loads of money, but make the reveal mega hype
Why is his strong up called "rising wind kick" and not "flying kick-a-pow"?
Spinning staff? Why not boomer AANG
This comment string alone is probably one of the best comment strings I have seen
Hopefully everyone doing well and staying safe
Thanks, same to you.
I hope you're doing well too
You too, thank you!
@@Vexei nothing just giving good vibes
Thanks everyone I’m doing well myself
I love how most of his moves are punches and kicks when I can’t remember a single moment where he punched/ elbowed/ kicked anyone from the show
their based off his ablilities to what he can do i know no evidence i guess but game devs got the power to make magic happen
@Aarogance COMPLETE inconsistency with character traits. He fights by dodging. Ever seen Avatar the last air bender???? Or played smash where they do the characters the right way???? Didn’t think I needed to spell it out for you
@@parkerhubbell3802
Bruh you can't have a fighting character that just dances around. They translated Aang's gracefulness into his playstyle rather than his moves. The dude needs to attack properly otherwise we got an Olimar situation.
@@parkerhubbell3802 yea man like remember that episode where patrick wavedashed around spongebob and then KO’d him with a nair
@Aarogance lolll true, this guy really thought a character that only dodges in a fighting game would be a good idea
This was my favorite presentation so far. His taunt and win screen is everything I wanted
Yes, well except how the camera work is handled for the victory animation.
Aang Rushdown???
Honestly expected him to play more like a zoner lol. Will be interesting to see how he plays out in the meta.
Following how Aang always fight in the serie he should be defensive and evasive.
THATS WHAT WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR
“Air ball”???? I think you mean air scooter.
This game looks fun, and I know some people are saying that it’s meta might be better than Smash’s, but from what I’ve seen a lot of the move sets seem kinda lame - mostly punches or kicks or pushes. It doesn’t look like there’s a whole lot of individuality in the move sets.
The lack of voices from the characters adds to that lack of individuality. It’s weird to see characters all known for their voices not saying anything or even grunts. It feels lifeless
can we take a minute to appreciate the background of the stage? looks amazing...
@@madcrx3070 True
I think its fine this way. Even in the show Aang mostly fights with air. Also by having him be air focused, they can probably have Korra do water and Toph earth allowing each to feel unique in gameplay instead of having "semi-clone" characters.
gonna be really weird if Korra fights primarily with water considering she leaned so heavily on fire bending too.
@@meganintenbro I just noticed they uploaded korra too so time to find out what she actually does
When will we get _My Cabbages!_ guy as DLC?
he's on the toph stage.. so we never will
Oh man, he's gonna be an absolute nightmare to fight against but so much fun to play as, I can't wait
It would have been cool to see his ground heavy attacks be the other 3 elements at least, like a water strike for mid, an upwards flame for high, and a ground slam for low.
Yeah I'm kinda disappointed. I knew he would be air dominant, but not completely devoid of earth, water, and fire.
Thank you for putting Aang in the game. You have secured my purchase by doing so
YO AANG’S COMBO GAME IS AMAZING
Easy S tier right here, especially in the hands of someone who can chain combos.
Imagine an Avatar fighting game created by Arcsys. That’d be godly af.
One can only dream. Aang looks a little budget here. It's hard competing with the astonishing animations of the show.
Rooster Teeth managed to get one (kinda) for RWBY, so mayb the dream's not too far-winded for Avatar-fighter in the future...
Huh, did I just write a pun...
That I'll I actually buy, and save for one day man as long as it's not disappointing, or choppy in animated graphics.
y'all gotta leave arcsys alone man also other devs too ya know.
Well my interest in this game has skyrocketed
I love that they didnt even feel to make a special announcement. They just simply released the footage because everyone already knew
I wanted Aang’s taunt to be the marble trick, and then I learned to be careful what I wished for- his face during the taunt is scary!
Thank you for getting Aang’s showcase
Honestly, his moveset had so mutch potential, but it came out to be really lame (at least I think so)
Looks like they used Aang from Season 1 where he only knows airbending, either way this game isn't Smash Bros. quality so honestly you're not gonna get much
I felt the same way until I saw Korra's moveset.
Korra's is amazing
i feel the same way about ren & stimpy
@@johnsoapmactavish9921
But even book 1 Aang was learning water throughout. They probably wanted Aang to be air since Toph is solely earth, with Korra taking over fire and water primarily with some extras.
Feeling kinda weird seeing Aang actually hit someone lol
Not sure if Training Mode was confirmed yet but at 3:28 you can see the Training Mode menu for a frame or 2
training mode with visible hitboxes was already confirmed, still nice catch tho
The character breakdown I’ve been waiting for
Yooo Aang looks so fun and I love his down special where he rides the wind sphere!💨
Why wasn't the directions of his moves correlated to a specific element? Like down is earth, up is wind, side is water, and neutral is fire; just as an example.
Multi elements seem to be going to korra
So many missed opportunities... No move called "airbending slice!"???
And his air ball is actually called Air Scooter in the show.
I was literally just thinking about the Avatar characters for this game last night, and here they are!
Honestly him not using all 4 elements ain't really a problem to me. Air is just his BnB and that's just fine. However, I don't think his moves are creative enough. Like there's not many moves like where he uses his staff and expand his bending. That would've been perfect for his strong attacks
They gave him a staff and animations revolving around that but he's only got like 2 move where he uses it
THANK YOU!!! I thought I was the only one. It genuinely bothers me. He's the freaking avatar, the whole show is about learning all elements and mans only has one move using something other than air. Bruh.
i saw that training mode screen for a split second, neat that theres frame by frame and hitboxes
ngl kind of disappointed with the range on his light and heavy attacks when in the show his air attacks covered a lot of distance so it makes no sense to have such a small hitbox on them judging from the trailer
You'd think with Airbending he'd have more ranged options. Also for having the Avatar State as move it looks pretty unimpressive.
Hope they smooth out some things and get rights to better soundtracks too
@@thedoctordb5765
You had unrealistic expectations for a 40 dollar licensed game and that's not the game's fault.

No worries dude, they gave the more diverse elements to Korea, aang is an air bending master after all
someone made a slip-up while editing at 3:28, training mode is leaked! we got the slap city training mode (unless they change it before release, but i doubt it)
I have to say, his animations are really off-putting to me.
At least he looks fun gameplay-wise, but I'm pretty disappointed :/
Again, nothing but respect for the animator(s) (I'm sure it's way harder than I can imagine), but I really hope this can still be cleaned up.
If anyone is interested in ATLA's real martial-arts roots, here's a great article :) www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a32689010/avatar-the-last-airbender-martial-arts/
Wow, I pretty much just made the exact same comment. That idle stance is downright embarrassing.
He looks VERY good, holy cow. Can't wait to try him out!
YEEEEEEEEES!!!!

I hope Sokka will be in it
@@admiralAlfonso9001 he wont the roster is known
They’re probably saving Zim best for last, knowing how popular he is to this day.
I feel like one of his specials should have been a blast of wind that pushes things around.
Alright avatards, it’s the moment we’ve been waiting for
Wow Aang's Victory Animation is the same as the victory animation he does in Nickelodeon Super Brawl Universe
I hate the say this since it sounds like the devs really care about the game. But doesn't seem like they understand any of the basics of the Chinese martial arts behind the bending. I know it's just a kids game, but the show was also just a "kids show" and they paid a ton of attention to the details and always got things right. After all, it was a huge part of the show
There are a ton of weird things going on, but oh man, those default standing animations and idle animations are really atrocious.
Some references to get an idea of what bagua and staff movements should look like:
*Bagua from Beijing Wushu Team member and Jet Li teammate Zhang Hongmei:*
ruclips.net/video/3NHEOU88TaY/видео.html
*Gunshu (staff) from Taolu World Cup Champion Achmad Hulaefi*

You said a lot of what I was trying to say but better! I just hope the devs see our concerns, though I'm not sure anything can be done this late in development...
This is a great example of how I consider this game to be a missed opportunity. I like the idea of him entering the avatar state when he gets to high percent. It’s a unique mechanic that fits his character. So much so it should be a through line of his entire kit not just one ability. Especially because the iconic orb of all four elements being a pretty standard in air attack is a tad underwhelming.
Also no meta Knight glide. Literally unplayable.
Is the first sentence irony?
I'm so glad he's rushdown and not a zoner or a character that abuses range.
One doesn’t experience self-transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates.🎈
And in just 11 hours this became the most viewed showcase
For everyone asking for Jimmy and Timmy:
1) Frederator Studios and O Entertainment are a thing
2) They'll probably be DLC
3) The devs confirmed if they were in they'd be on the box art
Nick owns both shows though o entertainment was just the animation studio and frederator just produced the episodes that would be like cartoon network asking frederator to use adventure time to put them in brawlhalla
@@donnellmadison5586 They still need to license the characters. Danny Phantom had to be licensed from Shout! Factory
6:03 The moment you realize how crazy grabbing in the air is.
I wish that there were some more iconic airbending moves in his moveset. Also, I wish that he wasn't all melee.
the combo game, speed, and recovery already makes him pretty good
So they give Lucy, a normal child, two attack modes, but Aang, the one who ended The Hundred Year War and brought peace to the four nations by beating the Fire Lord Ozai, only airbends ????
They're probably giving Korra the other 3 elements...
I like how damaging him enough gives him access to the Avatar State. Nice touch.
It’s not rocko but aang is a really memorable character and I’m glad he’s back
So classy, there's so much detail in this movement
This moveset is garbage. Doesn't represent Aang accurately at all. Aang doesn't punch or kick. He bends the elements. I've seen a better moveset in Mugen.
Finally someone said it lol
They did a similar thing with Korra. They somehow made her jab unlike anything in the show which is honestly impressive.
Thanks a lot sugar punch. Now I see key frames everytime.
I wish aang had more of the avatar state special comebacks at 100%
I think I know why they only let Aang use his air element, it's because they used his S1 counterpart and not his end game counterpart, since he looked different in the end
