+Rachel Douglass Play along to songs. Even if you aren't playing perfectly, learning arrangements and transitions helps the most. I see memorizing songs like learning lyrics or lines in a movie.
if you havent heard of any Death album, check them out.Especially individual thought patterns and symbolic is masterpieces when it comes to drums.I dont intend to offense but these albums has more creative approach than metallica's straightforward drumming.I wasnt sure how to differentiate a good drummer and bad drummer until ive heard of these.Sorry forr bad english
