WOOD CARVING A TURTLE: HOW TO WHITTLE A COMFORT TURTLE FROM COTTONWOOD BARK

Thanks to Woodcarving Magazine for the awesome how to article on carving a 'comfort turtle' out of wood. I of course used Cottonwood bark! It's a good whittle for learning about planes, and experimenting with different tools to get the same look. Finished with homemade beeswax oil, this little whittle is a pleasure to hold in the hand.

Love that you used cottonwood we have that here in AK and it's tough to find some of the carving woods that you see in videos... I have been thinking about getting into carving but the lack of wood options has had me hesitant. May just give it a try now that I know I can use local woods
