The movie does take place in the original cartoon, but it wasn't the end. The movie takes place in the middle of the series but is a big time jump from the season finally to the movie. The series then continues immediately after the movie.
This was actually the midpoint of the 80s cartoon. Season 3 followed this and showed the Decepticons reduced to a fledgling few, forced to make deals with the Quintessons to survive. Then Season 4 was a 3-part finale, Season 5 was a bunch of reruns with live action bookend segments about Optimus (in his new Powermaster form- on shelves then!)telling a young boy about the Autobots' greatest adventures. And then Beast Wars was a sequel that got into the future (and past) of this version of Transformers
The original cartoon series has more detail about Transformers lore (for which Transformers One was a retcon), with the episode "War Dawn" (season 2) revealing the origins of Optimus Prime and the start of the Third Cybertronian War. And this video, from Season 3, details the origin of the Transformers altogether: ruclips.net/video/dXzvE3I39t8/видео.html
This Movie is considered brutal with how many G1 Season 1 and 2 characters were killed off. However, it was a lot worse. For example at least two Transformers had their deaths cut, a Autobot called Red Alert was shot in the back during a hit and run attack on the Constructicons and the Decepticon Shockwave, the one that ordered the Decepticons to Scramble , when Unicron attacked Cybertron , was crushed to death by Unicron. However one of the most brutal was Ulta Magnus . If you watch when he was taken out by the Sweeps , the Sweeps shot solid , continual beams. These were meant to be laser "lassos" which were to be used to rip Magnus apart limb by limb. But it looks like feeding someone to robot sharks is fine, but quartering them is a bit too far. 😂🤣
The Transformers The Movie...they really liked their "the's" back in the day LOL This movie was a huge spurce of trauma for us back when we saw it in the theaters...
This movie kickstarted this stupid trend of Optimus Prime dying every goddamn reboot. People writing this shit don't understand, death is heavy. As a concept, it is almost pregnant with meaning, and if it's to be included in your media, particularly media made for kids, it must be treated with respect and intention. Hasbro's biggest mistake wasn't killing Optimus like most people say; it was bringing him back because people bitched about it, instead of letting the remaining cast learn from it and move on, and thereby model that process for children who were watching.
No, no, no. After this you need to get into the Anima TV series that started around the same time as this movie. It shows you the return of Optimus Prime . It's 3 seasons and two episodes shows you how it began and the series will show you who created the transformers. Then you can get into transformers Prime. Best order
no no no... this where the very 1st optimus prime die .. the reason hasbro 80s want to give space for the new autobot toy because the gen 1 cast is discontinue. and get backlash by the fan because hasbro did not think optimus prime that important to them . remember this, hasbro in the 80s only see toy promo first and the story is second important . At least, hasbro learn they mistake and give more better story over time.
Unicron is a multiversal primordial God, who has the ability to travel through the multiverse, he cannot be eliminated, he can only be stopped, and the only artifact that can stop him is the great Matrix of Leadership, since this only thing it does is destroy his physical body, so that he does not wreak havoc on the universe again. Now why did he say that he is a Multiversal God, since he is Unique in the Multiverse because he has no variants, he only exists for the entire multiverse, when he is defeated his essence, but he decides whether to stay in that universe or go to another, and if he goes to another it is to start his fan of chaos and destruction again, since what he seeks is for the entire multiverse to be in destruction and darkness itself. Unicron also has servants who help him search for planets rich in energon so that he can feed himself and have more energy to travel through the universe, and at the same time he gives divine powers to his heralds so that they can defend themselves and achieve their goal. Unicron if he wants can end the Universe, but he can not because of his great limitation which is his physical form which is that of a giant planet that eats planets. And finally Unicron is Primus' brother, he is more and less than the primordial Multiversal God of creation and life and creator God of the Primes and the Cybertronians (Transformers) and also of the Matrix. Primus does have variants in the Multiverse since there always has to be a Cybertron for the Transformers to exist in each universe. And the being that created these two primordial Gods of the multiverse is more or less than the God of all creation and the multiverse called The One, the creator God of the entire Transformers franchise, when creating everything he divided himself in two into light and darkness and thus Primus and Unicron were born. Greetings 🤙 and a big hug 🫂 again, bro.
