To be honest it kind of pisses me off that whenever someone thinks of 'Pirate', they immediatley think of Pirates Of The Carribbean. Don't get me wrong, its a great film... but theres more to pirates than Johnny Depp. With that being said, this is a pretty good music video c:

Sure there was the odd flopping films before, the most famous I could name being Hook, but Pirates was what romanticized them for the masses/big screen goers. They’ve been popular in book and theater but if we are talking movie they were absolutely not, the opposite in fact. Exactly, Alestorm is just folk metal, Amon Amarth are just melodic death metal and Sabaton and just power metal. The pirates, vikings and war are just the theme.
But the fact that their music has a piratey theme is exactly what makes it pirate metal... Also, Sabaton has music about a lot more than WWII. It be more accurate to say that they are "warfare metal"
