A series of small, relatively cheap buildings, the style (and price) they have done the ice cream truck and the pizza truck recently would be really great. $10 sets with small vehicles (like they already do) and $25-20 sets with small buildings/shops would make lego city a lot more accessible for kids and parents.
I bet someone in Lego said that Metal Beard's beard could only be used for Metal Beard and then one of the Monkie Kid design team replied with "oh really?"
From my sets I have seen its also used as jaw pieces on Ninjago dragons. The Jay Skybound dragon has a dark blue metal beards beard upside down as a jaw
Lego needs to do a line of these side builds. It would be awsome to have a small town builds for people who can't shove out $$$ for those great creator sets.

Lordodragonss how do you order stickers? I use bricks and pieces but I’ve tried to get stickers and it appeared to me the only option was to “request replacement stickers” and no way to actually look up stickers via set number and just buy them..!?!

I just love the Panda store and the tuk-tuk! As Jang and so many others have said - please Lego make small affordable sets with content like that, without all those super large monster vehicles.
Jang I love your vids when I was younger I always used to watch your videos wishing I could get the sets for Christmas or my birthday or anything I’m older now I still enjoy Lego but don’t buy it as often but thanks for all the videos I enjoyed watching
Unpopular opinion: this is my favourite set in the whole monkie kid sets. As a consumer who can only purchase a Lego set 2-3 times a year, with a very limited budget and as a kid, I think this set brings a lot of value to the table. At the back, it can store a lot of minifigs so it's basically like a bad guy transport which is pretty rare, and it comes with quite some minifigs so its quite good actually.
You said what I was thinking. Would love to have the Panda store, didn't care much about the other things, neat as they are. I've got a gut feeling alot of Lego fans feel the same way.
I like this set a lot more than I expected. But you nailed it with the small builds comment! LEGO Needs to get back to that old school pocket money line they used to have! Good review as always!
Small builds is what makes lego easily gotten for children of less fortunate, and also just nice for kids in general. I do think that some big sets are needed to show scale and also for a show piece, but i miss the days when a nice set wasn't $50+
I think I'm skipping the whole wave. The theme has HUGE PROMISE, but I'm not into any of the sets this wave. The set I'm most tempted by is the Bull Mech, but that's mostly because Lady Iron Fan is a *gorgeous* figure, and I can't buy a $100 set for one minifig.
Thanks for that, a very thorough and balanced review, as usual. I completely agree that LEGO should release some of these MK sidebuilds as actual sets at lower price points - I would buy the shop and tuktuk in a heartbeat, but I personally have no interest in the rest of it.
I agree Jang.....the oversized bikes are pieces we coulda used in another building or taller building. I also agree that if they sold just the buildings in a set with figs and a vehicle it would sell well. I’d buy that for a dollar!

The truck looks way better than I expected. I just wish it didn't have the transformation feature so it could have been cheaper. Or at least that it had different play features like as a mobile base or something.
The vehicle at the front might be so heavy because of the shootout function. The more heavy it is and the more slick the wheels turn the further it goes when you push it out of the big truck.
I really like when you talk about the designers behind the sets, like in this one saying it feels like a designer you haven't seen much before. I'd love to hear more about that kind of take!

Interesting criticism about the smaller bike, but not unreasonable considering those hinge pieces throughout are completely wasted, and the infrastructure is unnecessarily complex whereas the larger monster truck section has almost a skeletal build in comparison. Combined as one though it reminds me a lot of the boss vehicles in the Twisted Metal series. In your opinion which is better overall value/playwise. This set, Ninjago's Dieselnaut from two years ago or that Monstrox assault vehicle from Nexo Knights?
TO ME this is the coolest set of the whole theme/line (so far). I just fricking love the main build and the side builds are great, as well. The panda shop looks so cool and I love asian dumblings/dim sum. The food vehicle makes me think that Monkie Kid is working for Pixie so Pixie is actually his boss. And it has the bull bicyvle! xP The only thing missing to me is the bull general. If I could get only one set of the ones shown so far I would get this one. And I would totally spend 100 € for this but $120 is defeinitely a bit much.
I think a model kit of Monkie Kid's flyer would not be too meta since there are plenty of model kits (plastic models not lego) of real life military vehicles and it would be likely that Monkie Kid uses a painted or modified version of an existing vehicle in universe. Also the trike was probably designed to be as heavy as possible to be the "action feature." It is intended to be used as a battering ram, so a kid can push it with some force and knock things over with its inertia.
I 100% agree with you!! My girlfriend loves pandas and really likes LEGO, but not enough to spend $120 just for that panda store. So I completely agree with selling these things separately and they would have better value

All Sets a bit pricey and noone of these interests me that much. Can you make a overall Opinion of all Sets and the whole theme + the distribution from Lego as exclusives?
I wonder if, to launch this new line which was touted as culturally appropriate, Lego also invested in local designers who maybe went a little overboard. Maybe they were less market sensitive, or maybe Lego intentionally inflated the piece count and size to lift these into "prestige" range for the Chinese market, so the inevitable knockoffs would not cut into core sales?
XiaoLongBao would not be tossed in the basket. If you did it would spill and break . maybe BBQ pork bun and some chicken and vegetable bun. Xiaolongbao is small and served in bamboo steaming baskets
I feel like if that giant bike did even just ONE more thing, I think it the set as a whole would be REALLY nice. Like, an opening weapon gimmick or pop-out boosters or even just adjustable totally superfluous flaps to make it look meaner, just... something.
Given this set is clearly pitched at the Chinese market, I wonder if Lego sell relatively few smaller sets over there as this theme lacks the smaller sets that usually fill out themes.
Though not as obvious as some others I have seen, this is another Lego set that has borrowed or outright stolen from other toys. That gimmick was used forty years ago in the Shogun Warriors Sky Arrow toy. It was a plane that had a removable smaller craft up front and when that was removed another cockpit would come from above and behind to replace it. This is the second in this series alone that have taken ideas from the old Shogun Warriors line.

Looks like the set was originally supposed to be a massively huge transforming vehicle like that one Chima wolf build. Then they lowered the original price and forced the designer to compromise.
It bugs me that on the forward right wheels the nubs are lined up instead of offset like the left, but it’s like that in the box art so it must be intentional.
I want the panda store, pigsy's rice steamer, and the girl minifigure. Can't buy/pay for all that other clutter just to get those (even if I gave the truck to my kids, which we have no room for such a beast of a vehicle)
I’ve noticed there’s a lot of $100+ sets in this Lego line. Hope that’s not a trend that will spread to toe her lines. But LEGO is still made in Denmark, so I’m not sure I can complain.
i think the truck looks better with the trike but i feel like they shouldn't have put in a trike just make it a straight truck; saves on pieces; saves on parts then just stick a gun in the back so you have a warthog
What exactly is the target demographic for these sets? Cause the price range I feel like is more like 18 plus and all the detail aswel, but the theme is childish?

After year after year of big black chunky Batman vehicles and mechs, the bad guys in this set are the big, black, chunky vehicles and mechs. I'm guessing more than anything that is causing the fatigue people are seeing when they see these and why they are favoring the colorful side builds and heroes. - Edit - That bike though... Kind of want a battle pack of those.

Pretty sure the laptop is actually a tablet/keyboard combo. Pretty easy to detach the halves and use it as just a tablet.

hi. a few vids ago you said Lego never prints onto the sides of mini figs. Monkey boy has prints on the sides of his legs. Is this unique?
They don't print the sides of torsos. They print arms and legs frequently.
