Crazy bro! That was a blood feud! Remember When Bill slapped the dog shit out of Doc's mother? Or when Doc nutted on Bill's Grantland poster? I can't *believe* these two men got over it!
Drinking game: Go back and watch the redraftables series from 2020, and take a shot every time Bill mentioned he had Clippers season tickets. Side note: He should revisit that series and do some drafts in the early 2010’s.

I'd argue that part of the coach's job is to instill a culture...if you've been with a Franchise for several years and don't have a culture....then it's on you as a coach.
Nobody could change the culture of the clippers while Sterling was there. He was too cheap and dysfunctional. Remember that the clippers were practicing at a middle school gym in South Central LA because sterling was too cheap to pay for a practice facility, like even if he didn't want to build a practice facility, he could have rented out a nice gym like all other nba teams back before the 90s. Than you got Sterling going into the locker room and "sizing" up his boys like a slave owner. Shit was weird Now everything that happened in the Ballmer era is doc's fault. Ballmer was handing out Blank checks for them and built a nice practice facility in Palos Verdes (one of the most expensive areas in LA county).
Ownership definitely contributes to culture. If they don't care about winning and only care about making money, that leads to worse decision making. And then high end talent doesn't want to go to that team because its a shitshow. Especially with an owner as fucked up as sterling was. Now, is doc sidestepping his share of the blame for his teams having a bad culture? Absolutely. Shaping a winning culture is the biggest part of a coach's job. But he is right that horrible Ownership creates terrible culture as well.
Malone at 38 actually avg 19 on his 18 year and led Jazz to playoffs. And all he had was an even older Stockton. That was the closest older player still giving good numbers at older age. Dirk, Vince, all those guys were totally washed by that time.
I’ve heard some say that Doc Rivers could have made a better assistant coach than a head coach. As is, I don’t think he was one of the single best, and would have put Rudy Tomjanovich in his spot on the 75th anniversary coach list. That said, if Doc’s retired now, then I hope he enjoys his retirement.
"Good Culture" Throws players under the bus after getting out coached his whole career. Man wouldn't have a ring without KG keeping Team in line honestly.
I like Doc as a person. He is a very engaging fellow. Tried to watch ESPN las night. Doris and Beth were UNWATCHABLE or should I say unlistenable. I turned off the sound and did other things while keeping an eye on the video. I thought things might get better with Ryan and Doc in the second game. I turned off the sound again and did not give the game my full attention. NBA announcing is getting WORSE and WORSE. I can stomach TNT announcing. As far as league pass, Joel Meyer and Antonio Daniels are my favorite with Ian Eagle and Sara Kocak second.
Bill where were you? They just had Doc and Doris Burke calling that garbage Celtics game... thought ESPN would round out the bs with a 3rd Celtics homer.
creativity? LeBalco is the most boring superstar of all time, in game and in personality. no grace, no innovation, nothing is new in 20 years but less defense more finger pointing more stat padding. it's a joke.
Still crazy to me that these two can have a cordial conversation
I don’t thin Doc Rivers ever took Bill Simmons’ criticism personally. He knows that Bill is just another fan like everyone else. 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, right

This is one of the reasons I respect Doc Rivers. Yeah I said it
As overrated as a coach doc was, he still won the C’s a chip.
Not a lot of people know this because he doesn't ever talk about it on the podcasts---but he once had season tickets back in the early 2000's

I would love a weekly segment with Doc and Bill
Look at you 2 getting along
I fucking love Bill Simmons. Dude is just a real person with great sports knowledge.

Yeah Sterling was why the Clippers underperformed all those years lol
Even Larry Brown could only get them a couple first round playoff teams, so yeah team culture was horrible from the sounds of it.

Doc and bill podcast is needed
Doc Rivers will find every excuse in the world to explain away how many times he shat the bed in the playoffs. Most underachieving NBA coach ever
Everywhere he goes, it's other people's fault.

Hell be back
Bruh didnt yall have SB level beef?😂
Worst coach to win a championship?
Doc is obviously aware of Bill's past criticism of him. Pretty cool that he respects Bill enough to now be having conversations like this anyways.

Here's the coach who nosedived the most amount of talented teams in NBA history
Bill looking like Paul Hollywood
Lakers getting so much credit for, let me see....being the only team to not get a game off Denver in the playoffs that played them. So weird
Sounds like Doc is retired as a coach
He has to be tired after all the drama with the Clippers and the Sixers. 🤷🏻♂️
@@johnbrowntheprophetno he’s just ASS
He should be, he's been riding on that 08' ring like nobodies business. The guy is not a good modern NBA coach that much is clear by now.
Lebron james never weighted more than karl malone. Stop it. Just Google image the 2.
Uh you build culture
Bill who’s just a fan talking to doc who quit on the celtics😂
Bill where were you? They just had Doc and Doris Burke calling that garbage Celtics game... thought ESPN would round out the bs with a 3rd Celtics homer.
Squashed beef.
Being a decent guy pays off because doc coaching and on the mic is suspect.
Wemby to SA is totally a valid conspiracy.
Sunday Night Football. Good time to toss eggs at transplant Simmons’ home.
You don't get it
No one wants to discuss Dwight Howard..... Gutless.
Who cares??? 🤔🤷🏻♂️🙄🤦🏻♂️
He’s not in the league, so it’s irrelevant. 🤷🏻♂️🙄🤦🏻♂️
Same reason why people don't want to talk about their hemorrhoids ...I'm buying it
Doc Rivers should be banned from the NBA.
He makes me hate basketball
glen doc "quivers" still pretending he´s smart
