Always go by the Warrior sizing chart when picking your pad sizes! Which can be found here: warriorsupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005780027-Goalie-Leg-Pad-Sizing-Chart

Hi Matt, Great video I had the G6 32” + 1.5” and found my 5 hole was about 4 inches, I recently bought the G7 33” 1.5” and know my 5 hole gap is considerable less. I also I’d the calf pillow idea as it was closer to my Bauer pads. I’m still working on getting the strapping right, I played last night and noticed I rolled over on the pad so more adjustments are needed.
I went from the G6 ritual to the G7 to save on cost and I really haven’t notice a big difference the rebounds are still lively, I also use pro laces and have ordered the ones with a lace for the 1st 1.5 inches so well see how that changes how the pads wear

Excellent video! Would it it fair to say that, given the tendency for the professor strap to raise the pads, you would have stayed at 35 if you preferred to use it?

Yes, if that strapping was my preference I would've left them at 35"

Very helpful, thanks! I've been wearing 35+1.5 G4s, but someone wearing G6s told me that "Warrior changed their sizing." Guess that's not true!

I hope this helps! But Warrior certainly didn't change their sizing and their sizing chart has been consistent. Lots of people have issues mixing up pad sizing and strapping and don't understand how they are very related.
So it really depends on how you end up strapping your pads!

@@HockeyReviews Thanks so much! How do you choose all the colors on your pads? Random or rainbow? 😀

Usually I theme my gear, these new ones I haven't gotten the jersey yet but they were based off of a rally car.

I have an issue with sizing on ccm eflex 3.5. Im only using the calf strap and the strap going from the knee diagonally across the calf. I more often than not am missing my landing on the lower side of my knee landing. To compensate, i tried running the boot strap through the back hole in the skate and seems that I either miss it low still or I dont get enough ankle rotation. Do you think I need to go down a size or change something else with my strapping?

Knee to calf straps help pull the pads up the leg, so you'd want to go knee to knee for that strap.
For the "back hole of the skate" you mean the blade holder right?
You could take a look at your toe ties to make sure you don't have TOO much slack as well and ensure the boot is staying down at your skate. But if you make a bunch of adjustments and you keep landing too low, they are probably too big.

My current issue that I’m really trying to sort out is that my pads are over rotating outwards when im standing. I’ve got warrior G6 e+ Pads. I’ve followed your advise with the warrior toe strap running through the middle of the skate on the loosest setting, ditched the bootstrap, and running the strapping loose, but not so loose that the pads really drop off my leg when im about to drop into butterfly. I run the knee strap behind my knee, and the professor strap on the inner mounting part of the pad (not the outer wrap that the calf strap attaches to). When I take my knee pads off, the pads do not seem to over rotate outwards. My knee pads are Vaughn V10 pro. Would those be considered super large knee pads, or should I try your suggested bauer elite (or maybe pro) knee pads?

I generally suggest the Warrior X# Pro knee pads over any Bauers. I could never get the newer Bauers actually fit right and their quality has dropped since the 1X ones.
V10 knee guards are pretty bulky, but it shouldn't stop pads from rotating back to their position when standing up.
Generally, when that happens, there is a strap that is "too" tight somewhere that is causing the pad to not go back to the starting point or the toe ties are too loose and not doing their job of snapping the pad back. I put the "too" in quotes because it might be completely fine for everything else and may fit the way you want them to, but it can cause other issues.
If you don't use the knee to knee strap does it fix the rotation issues?
You could try and use a tighter option on the toe ties as well and see if that works out.

@@HockeyReviews I believe I did try the knee strap behind the professor strap, but I'll try it again later to confirm. Maybe this nonsense, but I like the knee strap behind the knee because I find it helps close my 5 hole on my semi narrow butterfly, and connects my knee with the knee block better. Maybe this is also nonsense, but is it possible the bulky curved shape of the knee pad is causing the pads to rotate against them outwards? Maybe that's the knee strap being too tight, but I thought I had it decently loose, and I removed the nylon strap with the buckle to further loosen it.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Месяц назад +1

I am just guessing at what could be causing it without being able to see it happening, since the V10 are decently bulky I was just trying to see if the knee strap was basically forcing the pad into a specific position. Usually lack of re-rotation is a tight strap somewhere, but you stated everything is pretty loose as is so just trying other options.
Do you wear socks over the knee guards?

@@HockeyReviews Thank you so much! I will try the different strapping and see how that goes. Maybe putting the toe strap through the first opening on the g6 pads (you'll see 2 openings where the elastic can get pulled through) might pull the pad over and not rub as hard against the knee block (or just make it fit differently). And yes I wear socks over the pads. Thanks again for all your feedback! You have a fantastic channel.
