Working on Acer Nitro 5 An515-55: I tried to install my new Kingston 2 TB m2 SSD as only 2nd drive for storage...no cloning or installing windows. Nothing complicated in installation. On boot up, the computer only made it to the ACER splash screen and nothing more. Not sure if I need to go into bios to make it recognize new drive, or if its incompatible somehow (i thought i checked all that already as best as i could) or just try again. I spent a lot of money for an upgrade with a M2 vs an 2.5 sata. Having regrets now. Dont want to get too deep into bios fiddling and have issues that I cant undo. For now its working as normal again once i removed that 2nd m2. Any suggestions?
When you installed new 2tb M.2 and replaced the original M.2, laptop will not boot to OS. Because new 2tb has not Windows in it. You have to install Windows in your new 2tb M.2. Or you can clone from Original to new 2tb M.2
@@UbergeeksBiz Thanks for reply. I didnt replace it or want to, I just put it in the 2nd slot thinking it could use as storage. just as you did in video. I thought it would use original to boot as normal, and just add a 2nd storage drive. Does this override the original in boot up (original is 500GB)? I have read different things such as the M.2 cannot be over 1 TB (never stated when searching specs and installing 2nd ssd), and/or need to go into bios. Regarding cloning (if that is something I have to do to use this new M2): Cloning will keep ALL my system exactly as was before, and I do mean EXACTLY, with preferences, settings, installed programs etc etc...everything?
@@UbergeeksBiz UPDATE: Just thought I would give an update in case someone else ever has this issue. I tried again with the new m2 ssd 2TB in the 2nd slot and on the 4th try got got it to work. Reseated the m2 first and not sure exactly why but a 2nd and 3rd restart it went further into boot and then 1 more power off/power on, it fully booted. Just had to initialize drive and then format it as normal after that. Seems ok so far after several more restarts to double check. I feel like 2 TB may be the max for these m2 ssds without some extra effort in bios updates etc, as I havent heard of anyone doing it with larger size than 1 TB, also depending on system. Maybe that 2 TB size was why mine had some hiccups. In any case, problem solved for now. Thanks for the video.

Look at the review from "tweaktown" website of WD Blue SN 570. It performed better than the Samsung 980 and every reading test. The downside of it is it's sustained right speeds of really big files. It just depends on what you're going to use it for. If you're using it for primarily moving large files I would go with the Samsung 980 but if it's just for media or gaming I would go with the WD Blue SN570.

@@DavySpikeMill I believe "simple new volume" just means to use the whole drive as 1 storage location. Some people will split the storage device into several different partitions and assign multiple drive letters that way they can have separate drives for storage using certain programs/software or home files separate from work storage even though it's all on same SSD. It just helps them keep files separated and easy to find.
