Sir can u explain what are the changes in magnetic compass and deviation when ship reached newzealand from japan

If the compass was corrected appropriately i.e. soft iron for induce magnetism and magnets for permanent magnetism, the deviation should not appear. But the change of induced and permanent magnetism happens in different ways once the latitude changes, if the correction at Japan was done like for like, the fresh deviation would not occur. The healing error however would have to be adjusted anyway.
